The "fun" factor should be the driving force in anything any of us do with this game. If you're not having fun, you're missing the entire point of 'playing' the game. Whether your weapon of choice is RCT/LL, RCT2 or RCT3. Also, I think the "NE style" is somewhat a thing of the past. With all of the newer (and even some of the older) members displaying such diverse styles now that have little to no resemblance of what one could construe as "the NE style"...which used to permeate this place but, with the diminishing numbers of active players has taken a back seat to the more individual 'styles' that we see now. I know, from my own perspective, that I've never sought to emulate any particular 'style' that seems prevalent at any particular RCT site at any given time. I just build what looks/feels good to me. I mean...sure, it's a good idea to 'borrow' from some of the legends here. They're legends for a fucking reason. But, at the same time, you can only 'borrow' so much before you're pretty much just copying.
Anyway...all I'm saying is that everyone should strive to be themselves with the way they approach this game. The people that became 'legends' did so because they did things differently than others. Whether their 'style' caught on and became the norm or not would be irrelevant if they all followed the same pattern and adhered to any particular style or trend. -

That's always the dream, ain't it? Do what you want and not give a rat's @$$ about what other people think. But that all comes crashing down when you get choosy over what advice to take. God forbid you should chose not to take advice over a period of time. You get played the... "Well why did you bother to post anything if you don't want to take advice?" card. Then you get royally reamed by some pre schooler and your topic gets ignored by everyone else.
Yes... The "NE Style" is alive and well. I get a dose of it every time I post an image of my current projects. -

I wouldn't say we need a fiesta since a lot of people won't participate because they haven't got anything to show I think... -

i must disagree woolly. following the advice of better players than myself has never led me astray. -

While I fully agree SSSammy I don't always listen, I often do do't get me wrong but sometimes taking all advice given doesn't always add up to your own style and more to the style of the person giving the advice... -

As of yet, I haven't posted any screens of the parks I've worked on because I felt that the culmination of various suggestions and tips would result in a park that simply conformed to a wide amount of personal preferences and which displayed no sign of individuality. I also felt that by showing snippets of a park, the screen would be critiqued as is, without the surroundings being taken into consideration (and once again influenced into conformity).
Its not that I disagree with the advice given on other parks, but I feel that the same rules are frequently being brought up footers on supports, change land under the path etc. and that these quash any unique choices the player has made.
With regards to the earlier NCSO debate, I am currently working on such a park myself. I see it like a starter pack with which I should become better at first, learning the basics of aesthetics, layout and so on with the fundamental pieces. Once I have a grasp on this, Ill use the booster pack custom objects to develop a park with greater detail and immersion. -

i suppose i think of it differently than other people. when i started accelerating rapidly in terms of skill i scarcely showed anything at all. this led to all my feedback being about my focus on certain things. cks was a thing apart from most at ne, and i was reuctant to let people turn it into a themepark. this lead me to concentrate my efforts on "why" i build, "why" i place cerain objects in certain ways, and the general advice shaped my outlook instead of my screens. -

The foliage is meh. Idk.. Just the combination of all those objects looks weird to me. Everything else looks charming. -

Ok. That's a given. Souly on the pretense that you have to decide what advice to follow. For instance, I was working on the Montu recreation, and a lot of people posted pics of what they think the track should look like. Some people got pretty upset that I didn't follow their advice. (Some suggestions and threads were pretty off base, not that I'm going into details about it here.) But in the end, it's the builder that decides what advice he or she will follow.
It's impossible to follow all the advice, no matter how good it might be. Usually because that advice doesn't fit in with the theme, or it suggests altering the track to be more nauseating than before. Or it creates non-existant track elements that turns the track into something unrecognizable from the original track design. All in all, people have good intentions. And they should be aware that they are making suggestions. Not dictating what to do.
That the final choice is up to the builder. Getting bent if the builder doesn't follow your advice is only creating anger. And I pretty much believe that there are a small group of members who get ticked off if their advice is ignored. I'm pretty much going to do what I think is best for the project, if it's a suggestion or if it's an idea I came up with on my own. The kids can go have their hissy fit somewhere else. I don't have time to worry about them. -
