Fizzix@ don't change anything, the colors are right
  • J K%s's Photo
Lovely! Slight overuse of different coloured flowers that aren't quite matching together but I'm sure you'll sort that. Perhaps a bit more detail on the dull brown walls but other than that I love it.

Fizzix that is a very nice waterfall but my eyes were drawn to the right of the photo. I don't know why but I liked the stairs alot too.
  • Austin55%s's Photo
Yea those stairs are neat, got me wondering where they lead.

Coupon, you've gotten some great advice. I feel like that screen will be great with some tinkering.
  • Liampie%s's Photo
Very nice. The only thing I'd definitely change is the colour of the stairs - should be the same as other paths, no? Also to separate it from the walls.

Love it Fizzix. I hope there will be some guest viewpoints from the base of the falls. I never understood why people use the ice behind their falls. In reality behind the falls there would be rock or grass.

fizzix, that is very good. beautiful landscaping. just put a pole on the corners of the path on the top?

I use ice behind when I want it to look like a rushing waterfall instead of just a trickling sheet. For me it adds depth.

^ As do I, rushing waterfalls completely trump trickling streams!

What do you think about those border-tiles?
    Posted Image
  • Fizzix%s's Photo
BigB, not sure what you mean by border tiles, but I think all that rock and the Egyptian walls kind of clash. Maybe change the land textures a bit?

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys! Glad you like it.

Cocoa, the railing up there is curved, and doesn't touch those corners at all. If I put a pole on those corners, it won't even be touching the railing.

Liampie, will do! That all makes sense, should've done it already.

J K, thanks! I'll tone down some flowers, and address that wall.

I'll open a topic soonish, not sure when though.

I like the rapids in your picture BigB. I think unless in an egyptian themed area something more natural may be better.
  • BigB%s's Photo
Fizzix, I ment those tiles which keep the boats in the track (in reality, like beams)
BTW, nice CSO-Picture you posted on the last page ;)

^Anyone know how to make the waterfall better. Any good rock sets perhaps?
  • Ling%s's Photo
You could start by adding more white water to the bottom than there is at the top (look at any waterfall in real life). There are quarter-tile landscape sets that include rocky texturing, you can play with those - I don't think I know of any actual rock objects that are used often anymore. Something else you can try is varying the face and giving it some levels to break up the flatness.

@salsaontop: try checking the post 18 posts back from yours. (bottom last page) There's plenty of interesting things/techniques to see which make a waterfall more interesting/better right?

    Hope it helps. :)

hi everyone, I am pretty much a rookie At park making however I am going to make a run for spotlight. I was wondering is there are any Unofficial tips and tricks to make parks better. I am going for a more realistic feel to it. Will be posting pictures soon

@Ruben I saw that awesome picture but I don't get how he made that waterfall. :'(

You are familiar with custom objects right?

In that case, the smaller (quarter tile etc.) waterfall blocks, the quarter tile landblocks and those ''rocks'' (they're called ''1k ruins'' as objects) are all essentials to create a nice atmospheric waterfall. Especially the first two groups.

After that it's just practice, try creating multiple levels, try and get it to interact with its environment, try to make the foliage fit the waterfall etc. It really isn't rocket science, so you should ''get'' it, it's really more a matter of practice and really paying attention to how other's do it. That combined with personal preference should get you a rocking waterfall within no-time.
