Nice idea ^ Im glad this is happening because some people need the recognition they deserve. -

Don't let the community decide. Most of the community don't even remember Mala, let alone LAA or Scheussler. I'd pick some people who actually know what they're talking about, and listen to them. -

If SA doesn't belong in the hall of fame, who the hell does?
I think this parkmaker thing doesn't really matter. If a parkmaker makes a couple of nice parks, and you see that it will inspire the person in question to make more, possibly even nicer parks, why not? It never started out as quite the elite thing some of you have in mind for it, does anyone even remember?
It's for fun, people, and the more you stress the importance of 'becoming a parkmaker' the more people focus on it, the more some will achieve it and feel like they've achieved what they were going for and sit low. Let people strive making a good park, and inspire them to keep doing so by whatever means necessary.
I'm not saying you should make everyone parkmaker now, just don't make such a big deal out of it, do whatever you can to inspire people to make parks. View the parkmaker status as putting the parks of that person on your website, because you like their parks, don't look at it like they've made a huge step up in the world.
^ this is all true. I'm just saying, that there already exists a bit of iconography in the idea of a "parkmaker", so you really can't stop people from putting importance IN it. I'm just saying, if it IS going to be important to people, you might as well use it wisely to keep the community from polarizing. To keep the community from polarizing is to make sure attention isn't so unbalanced that whole schools of thought go out the window as they get less and less attention, and thus stagnate the now progressive state of things. There is no ceiling, but when you stop pushing the boundaries, you'll soon have a mental concussion, and not have the slightest clue as to why... -

I believe the idea of the Hall of Fame is that worthy members of the RCT community get their names placed in the hall, correct? So I'd like to propose Amazing Earl for the hall, he wasn't the best parkmaker by a long way, but he was the easily the best ridemaker, and many RCT2 Spotlights and Runners Up contain his attractions. Without him we would have been stuck with the limited selection of Flat Rides in RCT2, unlike now where the selection is more varied. As a final advantage Amazing Earl was an inspiration for several other parkmakers, proving that new rides could be done.
In a simular vein, Toon would be another excellent choice. While some may argue that his parkmaking skills are not as good as another parkmakers, surely no one can deny the collossal contribution his objects, especially the quarter tile building blocks, have made to RCT2 park building. -

if you think like this I would sugest Doctor J above all....if it was not for him we would still be playing with the custom scenery....
but I understood the hall of fame is only for the best parkmakers -

If you think like that, then Mr. Drexler deserves the utmost honors!!
Yeah... this is a slippery slope. -

No way ^ You need to be the best of the best to be a parkmaker or build alot of decent sized parks...
why would building a lot of decent sized parks be a qualifying factor if one isn't 'best of the best', that's like giving an author a lifetime achievement award just because they wrote a lot of decent books but none of them were bestsellers, aka stupid -

Well im more on J K's side then. Let's use RCTFan and Six Frags for examples...
If iris were here I think RCTFan would have been offered an NE Parkmaker spot (I wonder if he would have turned iris down to? well thats not the point...) because it's pretty clear that he is very skilled and the most skilled non-Parkmaker. Now I was not ready to offer a parkmaker spot to him no matter how skilled until I could see a nice sized finished piece of work, Kukana was great but he did have Turtle helping him.
I don't think iris would have offered Six Frags a NE Parkmaker spot because his skill level, while not bad at all, is not as high as some of the other guys parkmaking at this time. However I took into account all his past work and decided he has earned it thought effort. Maybe it goes back to when I went about a year without being an NE Parkmaker when a lot of people thought I should be one, but iris never gave me the spot even tho I was one of the hardest workers at that time.
Basically if I need to pick between a guy thats done a lot of really nice work and a guy thats done 1 or 2 two really awesome things, but does not look like a solid investment to stay on the active NE Parkmaker list to long, I will always go with the hard worker even if he's not as "skilled". -

Hell, why not? Atari are blatantly not going to put him in any hall of fame they own... -

OK, you are now talking about adding people to the HoF that really haven't done any kind of parkmaking. Not a bad idea in itself as many HoFs have areas along these lines. A good example would be the Baseball HoF. They have added people to the HoF that didn't actually play in the major leagues but definitely had an impact on the game. If I remember correctly, there are umpires included. But most notable additions are the additions about the Women's Professional league and the Negro Leagues.
So, along these lines, the HoF could include people that have had a dramatic affect on how the game is currently being played. Definite inclusions would be Chris Sawyer as the creator of RCT; Amazing Earl for the rides that he's created; Josef Drexler for the RCT1 Drexler patch; Doctor J for the object editor and Buggy for his RideMaker. There are others that could also be included like ja227/Parkitect, humble_programmer, etc. While these wouldn't be considered Parkmakers per se, they would definitely be worthy of entry into this are of the HoF.
Whether the RCT community itself should ASSIST in determining who would be entered into the HoF, possibly. While I don't really recognize some of the people you're talking about, I'm sure that others within the community would.
You might also want to consider breaking out between RCT1 and RCT2. Most of the people that are current NE Parkmakers have created parks in both RCT1 and RCT2. But some have worked strictly in RCT1 or RCT2 and not the other. This would be one way to differentiate some of them a little. People could be added to the HoF based on their work in either version, or both.
In the future, possibly add RCT3 as there are quite a few good parks being created by people now. But I don't think that RCT3 needs to be included at this time as NE hasn't really embraced it by any means. But it's possible that in the future RCT3 will gain more attention here; it will just take a lot of time for this to happen.
Just some of my thoughts, nothing to be take seriously unless it sounds reasonable to include as part of the Hall of Fame. -

Basically what im trying to say is you can't build a one hit wonder, then be offered a spot. Thats my opinion and if you don't agree thats fine, i just feel that entrees must have a few amazing parks under there belt. -

Well, I have to disagree here. When did you last see that one hit wonder? From my point of view if you can create one of the amazing parks (like as a beacon park for rct), you really don't have to have produced that many parks if you ask me. Mainly because the HoF should contain the ones with the highest quality, quantity shouldn't matter. Prerequisit is ofcourse that it's not something like design, but only a full blown solo. -

I think it should go like profesional sports. The best CURRENT parkmakers should hold the place of NE parkmakers and then once they retire, the best of those should be in the hall of fame (kinda like NE parkmakers=MLB allstars and NE HoF=MLB HoF. I personally dont think active parkmakers should be included in the hall of fame, right now, I say chose names from the list of the NE Retired Parkmakers only. but thats only what I think. -

Kinda late in this topic, but whatever...
Well, I think entering the HoF is actually about the RCT player's importance, which combines quality and quantity. The one who is chosen for the HoF doesn't really need to be better than the rest of the parkmakers, while his/her skills are good enough for being a parkmaker, which would be an actual fact. Now, we have somebody with the skills, but he/she needs to use them...how? making a few parks that don't need to be enormous IMO; they just need to be good enough in all the parkmaking aspects: theming/concepts, layout, coasters, architecture, and so on...
After 3/4/5 years of work, this parkmaker has gotten some NE accolades(and other site's aswell), and had succeeded in the RCT community, he/she is very known and considered as a great and important parkmaker, who has achieved many of his/her goals, and has contributed to the "RCT world" with his/her parks/releases.
Like I said before, I think it's all about the person's importance as a RCT player...somebody who has owned that title just for 2 months can't be selected for the HoF. The HoF is something that takes a long time to reach, and you can't expect a new parkmaker to be there, unless for some reason he/she has released many good parks, has got many accolades, and was very underrated so he/she had never been a candidate for getting a parkmaker spot, but that's totally stupid.
Anyway, to conclude...HoF is not a thing of like "anytime" get what I mean? There are moments for everything. Why do you think it's called Hall of FAME? Significance...enough recognition...

Damn, I kinda messed up...it was hard to write it...hope you can get my point.
