Behringer? eh. They're alright. Otherwise that looks pretty nice.
More importantly though:
HOLY @)#*(%^(#&$(!*&@)%@(#*&^%&$*($$$!!!!)(%&(#&$(&#(&$^&$O&(&$@#$)(*($&@* it's LiquidCrash!

Yeah, the amp isn't all that great. The only thing I use it for is to jam with friends. It's the cheapo KX1200. It gets the job done for what I want it to do, that's all that matters, lol. -

Despite this making me look really really old-school....but are you *the* Liquid Crash?.....the one from Danimation Days? just curious. -

Good to see you too. And yeah, that was a long time ago (9 years? Damn I was only 13 years old), but it feels like yesterday. Time goes by too fast, lol. -

you still have that sky cymbal..
i think i'm going to rehead everything, all coated white, don't know which brand or what though. -

it is not that high...but my tom angles arent the best here they are fixed i promise.
i have relatively small sizes for toms (8x10 & 14x14) but a 18x22 bass, so it makes my kit look weird setup.Edited by twister12, 28 July 2007 - 06:31 PM.

it's the toms that make it look so high. your hi hats are really low actually, and i'd level the ride and crash--you don't want to hit the stick flat against the top of the cymbal, you'll crack them in no time. last thing, out of curiosity, do you ever crash or really lay into your ride? -
twister12 Offline
i did recently level out my cymbals when i got my new cymbal stand. i dont like to crash my ride for 2 reasons: i personally like the ping sound of the stick hitting the bow of the ride, and i have a really crappy ride (zildjian zbt ride) and gives a horrable sound. ill have to take some new pics.
also, you said you were goin to rehead, you should try g2 coateds (by evans). im tryin them next, have the clear versions, and theyre perfect except i want more warmth.Edited by twister12, 28 July 2007 - 11:40 PM.

._.
i'll never understand how percussionists find a drumhead that gives them more 'warmth'.
then again, i don't expect most people to quite understand what i mean when i tell them my King horn is like bathing in chocolate. -
penguinBOB Offline
it sounds less sharp and more round and slightly bassy. really all it is is a little bit of muting. bathing in chocolate on the other hand... that's a little more to the point, but doesn't tell you a thing about the pitch and timbre and such.
i think i'm going to get those g2 coated heads. i think i'll put them on the other side of the drum so i can choose between 70's sounding very open sounding toms and whatever the g2 will entail. i don't know if that'd work or not though. -

Well, pitch on horns is a bit harder to describe. Especially on French horns, which are notorious for being awfully out of tune. And by "bathing in chocolate", I would imagine he means the timbre is very dark, meaning it has a mellower tone (as apposed to "bright", which is very sharp and peircing. Think jazz trumpet players.) -

hey, hey, hey. the horns aren't out of tune, just the people playing them.
seriously though, i just pulled mine out after a week of 9 hour days with the crap mello and my tone and intonation is completely effing shot. I'd hate to hear myself after, say, a Div1 tour. -

Sound is naturally impossible to describe. Even a word like sharp, if you think about it.
But I know what pBob's talking about with warm drums, and I think I know what Intamin's talking about with chocolate bath horns (although that'd be a waste of chocolate, that is for eating). -

are you kidding? most of the stuff Hershey's puts out is barely suitable for consumption. lucky Europeans. -

Well, first off, the air concept should be the same for both, so your tone shouldn't change, and they are both in the same key, so you can't use that excuse. Any changes in your sound are due to you incorrectly playing, you playing too much, or you playing too little. And in a band camp situation, any and all of those come into play. If you get tired, back off, no matter what the band director tells you to do. Your face will thank me. -

...
air concept is not the same for horn and mello.
in case you weren't aware, they're different instruments ._. breathe-dah doesn't apply quite the same to everything.
that said, my problem is almost assuredly the mouthpiece- i've been playing a Yamaha MP14F4, which is more like a flugel/cornet mouthpiece. well, pretty much IS one, actually. so after all the band practices with mello embouchure my horn tone quality is different.
