^ Thanks for the comments however I’m not sure what you mean by more elaborate buildings? Are you referring to the details on and around the buildings or the actual shape of the buildings.

Yes, that was what I meant...

This is a tough balancing act with this area in that the area is called “Yankee Harbor”. Think of it as a small fishing town with older wood buildings. These buildings are designed to be kinda plain in appearance. Although this is not a recreation of the real park, I am trying to stay true to the concept of the park/area and I really don’t want to go overboard with the details just because it looks good in the game.

...but now I get your point...in that case, leave like that :)

Ride6 - Thanks and I did fix the fence on the slanted foot bridge. Part of the problem is that particular fence does not line up well when slanted. I also fixed the other missed fence. :)

Elegant and classy from our angle, no doubt, but here's the big question: as a guest would I ever be able to see those letters?

I hope you've got a tower of some kind nearby or something for that reason, otherwise it's all very very pleasently, refreshingly, clean....

I like it, "elegant and classy" are perfect descriptive words here. Just one question, what are those statues of? The one looks like a whale or a penguin.. I don't think I've ever seen them before.

    I agree with ride6...
Anyway, I think it looks very elegant and classy. I like the fact that you keep the realistic and pleasant atmosphere in this park.

Looking forward to seeing more of this. Keep going.

He, really like what I see so far. Get that tower in for the peeps on that last shot or they will miss the beautful shrubbery. Always been a big fan of the "classic" Mariotts duo of parks and it's a shame they went the way of the dodo bird. Your Tidal Wave recreation evokes some great memories of the lost ride from my childhood. I tried a recreation once similar to yours with the chaseing lights themeing, but it really didn't come out right. Anyways, your park does look awsome! and in my opinion from what i've seen in these pics is definately going to be a keeper in my parks file.

Well James. Whether you want to take this as a good comment or not. You have the most "classy" work in rct, that i have EVER seen. Great work.

Todd Lee and RCFanB&M - Thanks again!

aero21 - Thanks. What park did you visit? I used to work at the SC park for one season as a ride opp. Glad it brings back memories and I hope you like it when it gets released

JDP - I do take that as a good comment and thanks.

    omg, wow!!!

i totally missed the rapids and steam train screen. veeeeeeeeery nice.

    what's the overall project process?
  • RCTNW%s's Photo
Good question – The whole project will be released in phases. Each of the parks will have room left over for future expansions so that I can continue to build on it after it’s been released (I guess like a “park wars” map)

With that said, here is the status of each map for the initial release
    MGA map - 70%
    MMW map - 20%
    Parking map – 90%
    Resort map – 25%

However once the MGA, parking and resort maps are complete, I will then have the grand opening.

    I hope that makes sence!

oh, so you're trying to emulate real-world parks by having a new 'season' with each release, and new rides in each?
  • RCTNW%s's Photo
^ yes and no. I will not have a "Season" release but rather when I add new coaster or make significant changes to the park, I will release an updated version It will always be a work in progress. This project has all the elements of what I enjoy about building in RCT.2 I have three different types of parks, and area for structures only (such as the convention center) and areas for a resort(s). So as my interest shifts from one aspect to another, I can go in and build without having to go into the SE and creat a new bench.

For example, right now I'm working on the one of the stadiums for the Dolphin Show on the MMW map. If I want to work on the station for The Demon on the MGA map, I can shift. This way I don't get burned out on a park and then not finish it. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy building parking lots (i'm sick like that)

In short, this is a project that will never really be "Finished". I will build on it and when I feel there is enough for it to be released, I'll release that map. The sad news is that this project will not qualify for Spotlight, SRU or even RU as it can not be a released park. I knew that going into it so I'm OK with it.

Again thanks for the comments so far.

    James - RCTNW

edit - If everything continues as planned, I'm hoping for a release around March 2007!

I grew up in Santa Clara, so I was at the park every summer from opening up until about 3 years ago. I was very involved with a lot of the open calls for people such as Fright Night and many of the off site productions and musicals. I have many great memories of that park. When I started RCT Great America was one of the first parks I did, it got my name out there. I also visited Marine World quite a bit, at both locations. It will be interesting to see the amount of influence these parks have had on your work.
