Cedar Point will announce the new ride in 9 days! September 7th!

That's catchy, I'm looking forward to see it.

The rendering was leaked a few days ago. I'm not sure if it is accurate but if it is you have an overview already.

It was found out at Screamscape btw.

Maverick - Breaking News - (9/1/06 - 3:00pm EST) Screamscape has been provided with a first look at one of the pieces of concept artwork for Maverick that you don’t wan’t to miss. Check it out!
(9/1/06) A Screamscape source has decided to spill the beans today all about Maverick. First off the ride and train may be themed as an old train ride, using several smaller trains instead of one train. In fact the trains may only hold 12 riders total and only three cars long. It will also be Cedar Point’s first use of the new Intamin shoulder restraint system they’ve been using on their other launched coasters lately. It also seems that the two part rumor I had months ago will also be true, where the ride will climb an LSM lift hill that stands only about 107 feet tall, pass over the top to a beyond vertical 95º angle and then drop to the ground into the first segment of the ride. As the ride approaches the station again, it will enter a tunnel directly under the station and lift hill where it will encounter a LSM booster train that will shoot the train out of the tunnel at 70 mph to complete the rest of the 4150 feet of track that will include a third inversion, a very low to the ground heartline spin. Our source wasn’t quite sure, but there also seemed to be a near-inversion element near the very end of the ride that was described as an “exaggerated Stengel dive”. Speaking of which, apparently Maverick will be the 500th coaster designed by Werner Stengel. The final cost is said to be around the $21 million mark.

If it's accurate, I'll be wondering how you will be pulling off the 95 degree turn and the 2nd launch.

^I agree, and somehow, most people feel let-down.

I have completed a layout the best I could with the layout. The layout is almost exactly the same length and height. In the game it runs a top speed of 60mph. I will now theme / support the design, so look for some screens soon. The

How do you know the speed, we dont know how fast the launch is yest.
  • eman%s's Photo
Well, theres the supposed speed in Screamscape, and speed doesn't matter to him since RCT2 has an innacurate physics model so he would have to make the ride much taller if he wanted the speed right. Instead he;s going for scale. I can't wait to see it. :)

Well, if that's really the layout, then I'm somewhat disapointed...the real ride, I mean. I thought it would have a little more track. I just hope that they really do theme it up as well as the rendering.

As for the to-scale one, how WILL you pull off the 95 degree drop?
Otherwise, hoping for a good recreation of a ride being built.

4D track is the only way, afaik. :<img src=:' />

The 4D track goes 120 degrees, a 90 degree drop would be better since 5 degrees is barely anything.

I was more concerned with getting past vertical, rather than recreate the 5 degrees exactly, knaamean?
  • Nitrous Oxide%s's Photo
Yea, I just used the 90* track.
  • RMM%s's Photo
Hack the drop so it is invisible where the verticle drop is but use extra track or something (iverted coaster) so it looks as if it is a past 90* drop. The actual train will go 90* but the track shows past 90*. I hope you understand what im saying.
  • geewhzz%s's Photo
    Vertical track cannot be invisible.
  • zodiac%s's Photo
plus how are you gonna make that launch in the middle of the ride?
  • RMM%s's Photo
I thought there was a way to do it with codex.

The only way I can think of is to make the regular lift hill a cable lift hill so you can still max out the lift-hill chain speed. But there's gotta be a better way...
