I downloaded a park called "Disney Extreme Orlando" and everytime I try to open it, Windows XP says that I have to choose the program to open it with. I choose RCT2, the game starts but the park isn't open. Can anybody help me? -

You probably are missing some of the objects required to open the park. If there were any other files in the .zip file save those in your RCT2 ObjData folder first, then try opening the park. Otherwise there should be a little red box that pops up when you try to open the park which tells you the filename of the object you're missing. Write it down, find the object, and place it in your ObjData folder. -

^Yeah you usually get those after trying to open the park in the game. If i'm not mistaken, Disneys Extreme Orlando is a LL park. Are you trying to open it in RCT2, because that wont work. -

I had an inkling this would be the case before I even read this topic.
Anyway, the problem is that you do not have Roller Coaster Tycoon 1, with the Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes expasion packs installed. Therefore, you cannot open the park, because RCT 2 cannot open RCT 1 parks. -

Ah man thanks for reminding me of this park! Even though I prefer the original Disney Xtreme (Species!!!!) this was a pretty awesome park too.
Fuck i've been so nostalgic today! -

LOL
Guess I should have checked to see if it was an LL park first...
If it's LL, don't forget to get the Drexler Patch. -

Hey emo faff I think RCT1/LL only costs like £3 or something on ebay so you could get it pretty cheaply if you wanted. -

^Maybe read the park description?
Anything older than a few years is going to be LL. Plus, a quick look at the screens should be able to tell you as much.

This site needs a label telling you which is a RCT or a RCT2 park?
It's quite simple, actually. If you open the .zip file and find a .sv4 file, it's RCT 1. If it's .sv6, then it's RCT 2.
To enable file extensions to be shown on your computer (always a good idea IMO):
- Go to My Computer
- Tools > Folder Options
- Click on the 'View' tab
- UNCHECK the box for "Hide extensions for known file types"
And there you go. Now you'll always know which is which. -

the only park for which this is an exception is maybe cajamarca. or older rct2 parks. -

Haha I remember the first few responses to Cajamarca: "I can't get this to open in rct2!! what's wrong?!"
I bet Coaster Ed was chuffed with that.
