Sega's gone, bud. They announced they were moving strictly to game development after the Dreamcast (which was a damn solid system) sold poorly. I believe anticipation of the PS2 was to blame for that, though I could be wrong.

It's so sad that Sega got out of console development. The Dreamcast was an awesome system. It's one of the best, and has so many good games. I still play mine all the time. Shame Sega dropped it before it had time to blossom.

On the 64, you've got to get Perfect Dark. Great game. The sequel on the 360 isn't quite as good.

See what pisses me off with sony, is that you'll see blue ray players come out about a year after the ps3....

Fortunately, I think microsoft learned their lessons well, and Im thinking 360 is the way to go...

sigh*.... everyone is complaining about the price of the PS3 while if you compare it with the price of the ps2 in the beginning and add the inflation it's the same price. I really don't like ll this negative news all the time. Just wait until it is released and then judge if you ask me. I'm personally just as hyped with the Wii just like I was with the DS... totally NOT I mean. My experience with gimmicks is that they rarely last and everyone stop bitching about that the PS3 stole the Wii motion control stuff because it's BS. That technology existed already for a while and I highly doubt it was developed by Nintendo. They were just the first to announce that there controller would have it.
Anyway any sane person that likes FPS should be sticking to the PC anyway since the controller set-up is way more precise and as far as I know most console FPS are very mediocre (at least Halo 1 was imo and I don't think Call of Duty wasn't much better). If I could choose one out of the three I would probably choose the PS3 (I'm a ratchet&clank fan). The Wii is not for me (let them prove me otherwise first) and I've never cared for a XBox since most it has is on the PC too, but better (atleast what bothers me minus racing games perhaps). Not that I'm intending to buy any of them since I'm going to buy a new Powersupply and a new graphicscard. Too bad that I still have an AGP slot though. I'm still wondering if I should take the cheap option Club3D 7800GS for 245 euros or the uberversion Gainward Bliss 7800GS+ for 370 euros (best ever last card for AGP and on par with the PCI-E 7900GT).

Yeah, that "gimmick" sure has sold a hell of a lot more than other portables. Oh, I wonder why... Yeah, because that "gimmick" makes great games, and is reasonably priced. Sounds like success to me. Open your mind to new things. Also, they may not have been the first to use motion in a controller, but they are the first to use depth.

You don't have to lecture me about the sales figures, mainly because it doesn't say anything about the product (in the way like iPod, don't like that one either) and I am aware of them. I personally tried out a DS and while it's initially fun it wears of very quickly for me. I also have a GBA which was a good system (I had it two days before the original launch date), but I never bought more than 5 games for it. One major drawback (besides of the unlit screens in the first ones) was the tiny screen. I mean they ardvertised with 50% larger screen while small screen + 50% small screen = still way too small screen for me. I was actually waiting for the new 'gameboy' and when I heard from the dual screen I had something like WTF?!?!
That pushed me to my PSP I currently have and I already have 6 games for that and it's gonna grow bigtime. It may not have the most 'original' games ever, but it's stil very solid and there are many good titles coming. The amount of games available for a system doesn't matter, the amount of good ones does. When I see the DS I sometimes have the idea that I'm playing some upgraded flashgame, with the difference that I have to use the touch screen to move. And about the pricing: every game drops eventually and I picked up three games for 20 euros already.
This doesn't have anything to do with 'open your mind to new things' stuff, since I'm pretty open minded about most things, but I fail to see the hype. The DS has a new controller style and the PSP is PS2 on pocket format. If we're going to look at that they're both revolutionary.
One added note is that I probably don't fit the 'audience' for nintendo's systems these days, but hey if they can deliver the games that I could care of (hell, I liked Spyro(PS1 ones) and Loco Roco)... Kiddie is also probably not the term to use in combination with the Wii.

    wii.

i want a games console, not a fucking all-in-1 system.

Nintendo lost me with gamecube. I cant play with something that looks that much like a toy, and makes me feel like looking at it wrong would break it...

Plus, Im a hardware manwhore. The more raw power you can cram into something, the better. The more realistic the guys face looks when its getting punched in a boxing game, the better. And of course, the cooler the explosion looks/sounds the better.

the REAL competition wont begin until christmas '07, once all the systems have had time to blossom. thats when the stores like GameStop and EB will be flooded with customers
