Before you go off and say "Who the hell is this n00b with teh weird screename?" Its the artist known as Homer thats found on several other coaster forums. Notably on Theme Park Review and CoasterForce. I seriously wish I could change my username...
Why am I posting this mediocre looking park on a place known for detail? Well, criticism of course. For my earlier works, which use a somewhat basic style, check out and download Funzones Ulrich Lake.
And now, an old archived press release from 1983...
Funzones Las Vegas' logo, the park is the first general theme park in the area.
FUNZONES PARKS to build next theme park outside VegasBy: Mya Buttreeks
August 1st, 1983
Valley of Fire, Nevada -- Las Vegas, from a family standpoint's stereotype, doesn't seem that friendly with families. With casinos and strip clubs, it seems like little Billy and Jamie have nothing to do in the town. Well, just outside of Las Vegas, Funzones Parks has announced plans for building a new theme park at SR 169, outside of Las Vegas near Valley of Fire State Park.
"A theme park would do wonders for the city..." says Funzones CEO Herb Hancock,"... it would attract families to come to the city and boost the economy." Funzones Parks have little information about what attractions would be coming. But, to keep the park family friendly, the park will not have any gambling. However, alcohol would be served at some park restaurants and there would be designated smoking areas.
As for an opening date? Herb says," Some time in the next 3-4 years. I can tell you one of the park's unique features is going to be a man-made Canyon." Groundbreaking on the project is going to occur this Saturday.
Funzones Parks is headquartered in Denver, CO. They operate Wonder Lake in Indianapolis, Indiana and Ulrich Lake in northern Conneticut.
And, time for some first screens.
Trying to make the canyon, good or not?
The main entry area, bland and basic, I may redo. Guests enter through the fake "canyon arch" that leads into the park's first section, Fun Street (yes, a ripoff of Disney's Main St.).
And now, I kick back and wait for criticism... -

I can see what you're going for with the wooden sides of the canyon, but I think it's too distracting a texture even if you want the red sides. I'd just go for bare rock instead.
And do you want me to change your username to 'Homer'? -

Do you have wacky worlds?...if you do, you could use the canyon objects that comes with the Northamerican theme. (For the canyon of course)
The rest is ok...I suggest making some buildings with walls and windows...BTW, which the exact function of those buildings? -

It seems like you have the right idea and you are in the right direction but you still need to work on beautifying your work. Try building less blocky architecture and such. The canyon looks pretty good but I agree wit Mantis. View some Spotlights and RUs to get some new concepts also. -

Like other people have said. Take a look at some spotlights and search through the RU's. There some parks there that should have made spotlight.
May i recommend using the PT2 bench? I think it will have better scenery choices for you. Making your own bench might work against you.
Well the structures look disjointed. I think you have the right idea, but you need to think about more logical things like how high the buildings are. They all look like headchoppers at the moment!
Also, i dont like the path. I think it would look better if you used a normal grey path with a one tile width border of the concrete path. Almost acting like a sidewalk. That looks good.
Just keep going. You'll get better. -

I decided to restart using the PT2 bench. While it has a nice mix of scenery, theres a few bits n' pieces I enjoy using I miss. Oh well...
Anyways, I started construction on the entryway. Only one attraction in this section would be the park's observation tower, the SkyEye. Other than that, some half done archy. -

Yes so I would definitely recommend completing far more before you decide to advertise, especially if you're going to restart like that.
I think it's best to have enough material done that you could show two or three more screens than you actually do. That way you'll always be in control of your thread, rather than scrabbling for updates where there aren't any.
So i'd suggest finishing more buildings/rides before asking advice.
Also, do you have a name you'd like to change to other than Homer (since that's taken)? -

It's better than before...
I have to be honest...I don't like the colors selection and I also don't like the paths...the architeture, talking about structure, is ok, but the colors ruin it. You can make colorful buildings, but that doesn't mean that you have to put a lot of bright colors, which some of them don't even fit.
Anyway, that pic shows progress, and that's good.
