General Chat / The Worlds Hardest Game Levels.

After playing a few furiously hard levels, I decided to start a thread dedicated to the hardest game levels ever, The rules are, If it's not hard it doesn't count, It has to be hard and take you many multible tries to beat it, My Hardest Game Levels are.

1.) GoldenEye Rogue Agent - Volcano Lair
This is the hardest level seen in a videogame ever, Not only do you have to memorize the events, You have to fight soldiers with the O.M.E.N. rifles, fight sheilded units with O.M.E.N. rifles, and try to avoid the O.M.E.N. blasts, Prepare to spend a really long time with this as you use your favorite curse words, Release Your Anger and Swear at the Top of your lungs.

2.) Battlefield 2: Modern Combat - Flying the Flag
This mission is tough as hell, Not only is it tough, But it's furiously tough, No matter what side your on, You'll have to kill everyone while your enemies engineers kill off your crew, and if that wasn't enough, There are turrets around each silo, and worse, There are people under the silo that want to kill you and waste your time, and if your sucessful, You can plant the C4 and then plant another C4 at the same silo while getting killed, Then you have to fight your way to commander 31, (XBOX - You can just use your laser target on the tower to win this) which is tough cause there are tanks, helicopters, and more engineers, You'll be using your anger very furiously, also prepare to have a chew toy ready cause this will make you really, really nervous.

    3.) Half-Life - Nihilanth
This boss battle will commit you some time, First you have to destroy the 3 crystals above the Gonarch while avoiding the green energy balls, The green energy balls will teleport you to 3 rooms, If you fall into the 3rd one, You have to fight a miniboss, Once you destroy the 3 crystals, You can crowbar at his brain, But not before the ball clips and gets you, Than you have to climb up again and beat his brain out until he dies, This will commit you some time and also ramp up your anger.

4.) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Cesar Vialpando
This mission really pisses people off, On the PS2 and XBOX it works okay, But on PC, It's a nightmare, You have to use your spacebar and the arrow keys to sync with the beat, The problem is, There's no way to find out how to get it to sync, It's impossible and cannot be completed, You need a lot of time and a lot of patience to complete this mission.

    5.) Grand Theft Auto 3 - S.A.M.
This mission is what I consider unbeatable and uncompletable, Thanks to Air Pipes blocking my way and the fact that I can't find another boat anywhere, This is considered uncompletable and frustrating that you can't complete the game.

Well, Those are my picks for the hardest levels ever, Sound Off, Post your hardest levels here, We'd like you to release your anger.

Mr. 182, there are potential negative effects on your physical health from  excessive video game playing. I understand you are spending excessive periods of time playing video games and it may be at the expense of more active pastimes.  We are very concerned about your well-being and its time to fight this worrysome addiction.

If you're finding it difficult to control your game playing, we may need to help by encouranging your parents set limits on how much time you can play.  This will hopefully stimulate you to be involved in other activities.

If you are unwilling to cooperate, we see the only alternatives as Fat Kids Camp or a Video Gamers Detox Program

Aztec 00 agent Goldeneye was fairly hard. As was the last level on Perfect Dark on Perfect.

    half life isn't hard.

    sorry.
  • ACEfanatic02%s's Photo
Pfft. Just because you suck doesn't mean the levels are that hard.
My hardest so far? Halo 2 - Cairo Station - Legendary

Even that wasn't too difficult once you learned the strategy.

Here's a tip: Don't play by the game's rules. Bend them til they break.

Uhm... how was this hard and since when you needed to use the spacebar for this??? I don't know how your controls where configured, but I believe I needed to use the num-pad.
    Hard things on GTA:SA
-driving school (some of the tests are just hell)
-flying with keyboard (not that I had that problem because I have a joystick) + that the N.O.E (not sure mission) is a lot easier if you don't retract your landing gear... slower but more stable and you have time to spare.

    The rest of the games:
-No one lives forever on superspy mode (3-4 hits is instant death)
-Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within: one particular Dahaka chase and the Empress as final boss (also hard as the mid-boss if you didn't have any filled sandtanks like me)
-Prince of Persia 1&2 (the originals), those where damn hard and yet we got very very far. We finished 1 per-level basis (level 1-7 where easy and so where 11-12... 8-10 where just near impossible...) and I count that I finished 2 (in the right order this time) also because I simply didn't know I had to die at the flame... (I just killed the guard that was supposed to kill me... too easy)
    -Farcry without the quicksave-mod
    -Doom3:RoE endboss
-Warcraft3, several missions were pretty difficult (couldn't get past the last human mission on hard mode...)
-God Of War: any scene where the grab you trying to drop you in to the gaping abyss below and that you have to use the analog stick rapidly to avoid falling down... I HATE those parts.
-Sim City 4 without the easy option.
-Supaplex... finished about 75% of it. Damn hard game!
-Volfied (don't expect anyone knowing it, but if Stix for the c64 rings a bell, it's something like hat) the later levels where hell
-Bubble and Bobble (the funny thing is we never knew the controls where poorly configured. If we walked left he would automaticly jump too. We actually came very far with that handicap!)
    -Commander Keen (all of them)
    -Lemmings

Come to think of it, a lot of games I played on my old 486SX and my friends C64 where actually pretty hard. Strange thing is however, these days people would drop them much earlier if they where to hard/frustrating, while in these days we would keep trying. Supaplex and PoP are very good examples of that.

    EDIT

    i do speedruns...

Most games made more recently really aren't. that. hard.

Exceptions? Some Japanese shooters, a few badly made survival games, and a few fighting game bosses.

Ecco was a fairly hard game, but i wouldn't know for sure anymore since I commited myself to breaking it for speedrun purposes.

ok, here's a list of some games I've played now that I've had the time to think about it, that are honest to god the most frustrating games on the planet:

    Ghosts and Goblins
    Silver Surfer
    Fester's Quest
Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom
    Chubby Cherub
    Battletoads
    Section Z
    Faxanadu
    Rygar
    Bayou Billy

take a moment to realize this: they are all NES games.

I think the last level of Z was really hard. Still haven't done it!

Also i haven't played it in ages, but there was one puzzle in monkey island 2: Le Chucks revenge that got my knickers in a twist.

    You must be joking :X

I loved Lemmings! Bloody hard though, expecially considering I was about 13 at the time I was playing it. Prince of Persia was good then as well, along with the original Railroad Tycoon against three other computer players.

    i want to play lemmings.

I remember Zombies Ate My Neighbors was hard for me. But I'm not that great of a gamer.

I thought rayman on the n64 was hard :(

I thought God of War on PS2 was hard. The actual fighting wasn't that bad (except for the Gorgans turning you to stone every 10 seconds), but the mundane tasks such as climbing the rotating log of death saws was very frustrating.
  • Casimir%s's Photo
    The PoP2-Big-Black-Monster-Sequences
were a bit frustrating for the first time.
But when one get's used to, it isn't that hard anymore. You have to learn the way by heart, that's it.

Does anyone know the Simpsons game for Atari 500+?
That was a peice of really hard sh*t from the beginning to the end... 8@

GTA III - SA: The mission that you must fly towards a plane, make a quick 180 in the air with your plane, fl true the circle to get on the plane you are following...

that is crasy.. i mean how could i get there with a keyboard????

Don't forget the commandos 1 and behind the enemy line game. that was nuts... commandos 2 and 3 where easy if you compare it with commandos 1
