(Archive) Advertising District / Cedar Fair Parks Introduces....

I love compact coasters like that that still pack a punch. Those screens really remind me of Magnus Polyspaston/VHS/Urban Shakedown's work. And that's really nostalgic for me, which means you must be doing a good job!

    Pre Update 4

A week ago Cedar Fair LP collaborated with Intamin AG for a new coaster that could be added for the 2007 season. After the removal of Thrust Cedar Fair has decided to slide in one more coaster which will be a Wingwalker. The Wingwalker is a new coaster style. Taking the characteristics of a Rocket coaster and a Hyper coaster. This style of coaster has airtime, helixes, and twists. Because of the late addition to the park the ride has been chosen to be opened at the 2007 season along with the brand new expansion of the kiddy area.

    Also, stats have been realeased:

    Max speed:89 MPH
Elements:Barrel Roll, Helix, Several airtime hills.
Trains:7 cars/2 seats on opposite side of each car.
    Tracks Style: Terrained

Cedar Fair has released two pictures that give a taste of the ride.

I guess 4D trains could work, but the layout would be nasty as it not having animations for certain elements. Also, the seats facing backwards would be weird.

And they wouldn't be accurate to the actual wing-walkers, which have 3 seats per side. It will be intersting how you pull off the wing-walker look. The layout looks interesting.

^ Actually, the real wingwalker has 2 seats per side. That was just some concept drawing or a drawing done by some random person. The actual patent shows the blueprints with 2 people per side, even the video for the first one being installed shows 2 people per side.

    Yeah what he said^

I know you can't really pull of the wing walker easily but it's the closest thing. I could try running it backwards but I'm not sure wether it will be successful. This is part of the 2007 season so I don't have to full worry about it. My main goal is to release the park.

Ah, thanks for that clarification, I had always thought it was wierd that they'd have 3 seats a side. In that case, it should be a little bit easier. Can't wait to see how it turns out. :)
  • A2nxpimp%s's Photo
Actually, just now I've found a clever way of getting it to go forward. It took a little bit of time to find out but I think this is going to be quite sucessfull!
  • mantis%s's Photo
Sounds like an interesting concept - and from the screens it looks like a flowing layout.

Looks interesting...I'll wait for some more pics.

I am curious to see how Wingwalker pans out... hope to see actual screenshots soon. I like the storyline you've incorporated into this project of yours.

    Update 4!

What can I say..This park has gone quite far and I'm no where close to giving up. After giving myself a rather LONG break Id ecided to come back to Good Ol' Idlewood. I don't know what sparked my inspiration but I'm sure it will last as long as I can finish the park. I'm no where near quitting since I've done way too much work and I'm not throwing it away so surprise to those who thought that lol.

Anyway on with the update. What you will see in the following pictures have to do with the "Atlantic" themed section(A pretty small area of the park. I'd say about 1/5 of the whole park.) and some of the Frontier area. Most pictures are close to done and I probably need to either add detail or foilage to em. Anyway enjoy Update 4!

You've got good ideas at making rides that little bit more accurate. And the architecture is different and interesting. I don't agree with the idea that realistic has to be bare, though. That second screen looks a little incomplete and could do with a little more.

it looks pretty nice and I see I'm not the only one who likes hacking :p .

the atlantic theme gives me more a greek feeling but the buildings looks nice only the type of path I can't really understand.

the wooden buildings looks very nice to :)

and those support are good to :) , I only don't like that it become a bit smaller at one place and get larger after that ....

the whole thing is pretty nice-looking, but reading through this whole topic, I noticed that X-wings has the riders on their backs most of the time. After riding a flying coaster for the first time back in May, I found out that the ride is very rough when you're on your back. So for "realism" most of the coaster should be under the track.
    Everything else looks great, though

Looks good but I feel that something is missing, but im not too sure. Anyway looks okay besides it being unfinished.

oh yeah, looking back through the first pics, most of the coasters are glitchy and two of the supports are misaligned in that pic with X-wings and Thunderstrike

It was a Zero clearence isue because I was forgetting to put it back to normal ;) anyway I forgot to mention this to everyone. Benches and lights come after the whoooole park is done.

the water coaster works for me.
    well done.
  • RCFanB&M%s's Photo
That looks good. You have improved your archy skills, and I like the fact that you keep the realistic atmosphere. I just don't like the supports on the last screen.
