Anyone else see this documentary on the National Geographic Channel last night?
I especially liked the bits about the proposed "Golden Gate Bolt", an invisioned extreme hypercoaster that would travel the support lines of the Golden Gate Bridge. They said it would have a top of speed of 220 MPH.
I also enjoyed the bits about "Robo-coaster" & "Sky Surfer". Robo-coaster is apparently a new concept hybrid of a 4D coaster where a robotic arm actually twists & turns the cars a full 360 degrees during the ride.

Didn't see it, but I'm sure you would like to upload it somewhere for me.
Sounds really interesting. -

I wanted to watch it, but then there was one tiny problem... we have ngc europe... which means we probably need to wait a while... sigh#
(and I don't want to see that kingda ka documentary... again) -

It'll air several more times, in fact, its on this weekend 6/3 & 6/4, then again on 6/7. I'd catch it then if you can.
Anyway, here are some pics for those who didn't see it:
RoboCoaster
Sky Surfer (couldnt find an acutal pic, but like this only on a track) -

I don't have that channel.
The idea for that robocoaster has been around for a year or two now though if I'm not mistaken? -

Yeah, both that and the Sky Surfer are actually fairly old. Though the tracked robocoaster is a lot newer than the older non-tracked one, so I suppose it's still innovative. I don't think it's been out for more than a couple years, as opposed to the non-tracked version. But I think I've been hearing about the Sky Surfer ever since I first got into coasters, which has been about 7 years now.I don't have that channel

The Golden Gate coaster sounds interesting, if a bit silly. I would've watched, but I only get that channel at home. -

I watched it last night and although the sky surfer looks cool, the riders per hour would be horrible.
Overall, I thought the show was fantastic and had some good info that could be applied by a novice coaster builder in RCT.

I saw part of it. It was indeed interesting. I'd watch it again. I liked how they compared the woodies to the steel. -

So you must've accidentally watched it then. Silly me.
No wait, you're too smart for any television that's educational....
its all making sense to me now!

Funnily enough, that isn't possible...because...surprisingly, as we are concerning History(a study of the past), the people are more likely to be dead. Unless you somehow have access to a chamber with important historical figures perfectly preserved ready to answer your every question, that is. -

He obviously believes that movies such as Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure are non-fictional then. -

The show was the best theme park related show I've ever seen. Unlike the Travel Channel, what they said was true! They started talking about all the cool stuff about Kingda Ka, and I whispered under my breath "heh, too bad it never works...", and then they said it! Greatest show EVER!! So glad I Tivo'd it!
