Hello everyone! I am currently building a park called Exo-Sport Resort. It is a resort for athletes of all ages that can come stay in the condominiums and practice their skills. Exo-Sport is Paradox Inc.'s way of saying Exotic Sports - This resort mainly focuses on more unusual sports, such as paintball and skiing (which is just unusual enough for them). The area I will show you does not have much architecture, as it is a paintball field. Please go easy on me, as this is my first actual park! :)

This is a screen of most of the queue for the area's coaster, Sharpshooter. The custom gun marks the entrance on the right as the coaster dives right over the guests head. Guests can stall a little and take photos at the KODAK Photo Deck near the top of the screen.

This screen is of the bunker where the coaster is based. Near the exit, guests can buy on-ride photos or place any questions or comments about the coaster they may have.

Finally, this screen shows the hill on the other side of the area from Sharpshooter. The coaster dives through and flies around the bunkers scattered throughout the hill.

The quarter-size Egyptian Walls are supposed to be sandbags, for anyone who asks. I'm not sure whether the original supports or new custom supports would look better. Remember, this is my first park, so go easy on me. Enjoy! :D

I really like that custom gun ;)

I always wanted to see a good sports theme. What you have not is not that impressive, not that bad tho. Good idea for paintball, I have worked that into two past parks of mine.

Good luck with this, it's not an easy theme.

Why havent you used normal water for the river?
  • egg_head%s's Photo
Because it's supposed to be not as deep as the normal water alows.
I like it - not much though... to unrefined.
But good attempt on the gun

Ok then, use normal water, but just put lanblocks at the bottom of it to make it as shallow as possible. Would look better in my opinion.

defientely expand the widths of paths and spruce up some details on the bunkers. im not really a fan of the path color either. but that coaster looks really really cool.

The only thing I like about any of those screens is the paintball gun. The coaster layout seems fairly random and the coaster doesn't have any custom supports.

    Thanx for the replies.

    Tom_Dj - Thanx.

    Kumba - Thanx.

    egg_head - Thanx.

Metro - Thanx, but I think I'll keep it as it is.

newk - I'm going to keep the path width the same because I wanted to have as little path on the field as possible. I will work on the bunkers.

Ge-Ride - I was debating about whether or not to use custom supports. I will probably change it as I get more done in this park.

Once again, thanx for all the replies. I will be updating soon with the rest of the painball area.

I like the third screen. Its a creative idea and if that was in a park, it would be class.

Took so long, I know, but I finally got around to posting the new screens. They aren't the greatest, I know, but I am focusing on making my architecture better. This is another part of the paintball area. How can I make my architecture better?

Please excuse the unfinished parts. Enjoy! :D

EDIT: The monorail in the first screen doesn't have track right now, sorry. It will lead back to the hotel.

I think the first screen should be a bit more open, maybe it is just the view. Also, maybe try to make less pyramid-like roofs, more half pyramid- half flat. I hope that makes sense.

Or simply put, have flat rooves in the centers of your buildings with slanted rooves leading up to them.

Easiest tip I can give you for architecture: look at real buildings. Not skyscrapers, not houses, but the sort of buildings you see on a typical 'main street' - be it American, European, whatever. Then emulate that. Or, simpler, just look at architecture in real life parks.

Learn what you can do with the quarter tiles, with stacking walls, even layering quarter tile trims on walls. Find your limits, then pull back and find a cohesive style you can work with.

The problems I find in the pics are, as follows:
-No cohesion. They're related by general color scheme and proximity only. Use similar materials, forms, and colors in an area. Give yourself a restricted range building materials. For example: will you make windows with quarter tile glass or overlays? You can mix them, but use one dominantly, and the other only in some circumstances.
-Blocky form. Break up the rooflines - that will improve the architecture a lot. Also, one thing I've learned is that rising 2-3 stories off the path should only be done in a few circumstances. Give it a porch, a bumpout, whatever, just get your verticals off the path. The only exception is when you want a grander feel.

Hope this helps... it's 1 am, so who the hell knows if I'm coherent.

Oh, and PLEASE work on your foliage.

    -ACE
