I just became a member to this AWESOME website! I have been playin RCT2 for a long time, but I am not very good at it yet. If any1 has tips for me about building parks or theming rides, don't hesitate to help me.

decide what kind of project you want to do.
the categories for this site are two.

    design
one coaster, themed. chance to win "ne design"

    solo
one park at least 125x125 squares in size or else no chance to win. can get "runner up", "super runner up", "spotlight"

once decided, get ideas for your project. don't just try yourself at it to see what you're going to come up with just because you feel like it. that'll get you ~10mins of fun where you create something that looks cool, and then out of nowhere it doesn't anymore and the project has died for you and you feel like you've just wasted your time, which suddenly has become 30-45 mins.

get ideas that you want to create.
don't get ideas for ways of designing things. (blueish buildings with white rooves, this kind of shrub and tree, etc)
get ideas as in "a coaster from company xyz, in a park that has this certain amount of money to spend, theme is supposed to be xyz, i can implement these certain objects to make it look like that and get the idea across ... etc.

    ^for realism

    for fantasy style parkmaking:
"i want to create an alien land where creatures travel in nifty cars through the most abstract cities. the water is pink and the surroundings all white!!!"

really, i hate fantasy style ...

Thanks, this will be useful to me!

^Except for the Fantasy parkmaking. It seems that all realism is these days is a couple cliche beemers and lots of path or trees with dull colors and mundane architecture.

No, I concur. Last time I checked, HAG, you still suck, and while it's possible that you can still possess good opinions on RCT, given what you've made, pretty much no one is willing to take you seriously.

^Well, actually, there is my solo park which was supposed to be for parkwars. It's got about 146 game years in it, but you probably wouldn't like it. It was my first completed park.

I'm not sure if someone has already said the answer to this in another forum, but I have a small problem with a glitch. When I build one of the half arches and try to put something on it, either the supports for the smaller object still show, or parts of the object will dissapear at certain angles. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it even fixable? :<img src=:' />
  • Hydro%s's Photo
Pathetically, I have two more questions, and if they are answered somewhere else in the forums, please direct me to it...
First. How do you get rid of the original supports on roller coasters? (so you can make custom ones)
Last. It seems like many of your parks have no ACTUAL entrance. Is this true? If so, how do you do that?

I know I am pathetic, but I don't know ANYTHING about hacking, only a few of the types and two trainers (both from Kumba's Hack Tips), so please help me! :(

    For the first question...

You get rid of supports by lowering the land by one space below where the support is, then place a full-tile flower gardens piece in the hole. Then carefully cover all the hole with land by raising it!

For the question about entrances, I think there are invisible entrances that you can download. In the scenario editor you can select the invisible entrance.

X250 - Thanks, I will try that soon, when I build the first coaster of my park ;)
OLE - Thanks to you too, I will look for the invisi-entrance :)

*mumbles* - now I just need to find out about the glitch...
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo
most of your glitches are just with the graphics. usually people just pretend they're not there. and to get rid of the small object's support, there's an invisible support blocker, i believe. i don't know if that's the best way to do it, but it's one way.
  • Hydro%s's Photo
ok, thanks for letting me know, even if i cant fix the problem... :)
and, sadly  , i have one more pathetic ?. Is trackitecture mixing architecture and theming to rollercoasters? if not, what is it?
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo
using coaster track to create buildings/deco on buildings, if you catch my drift. look at baiht oashyr veg thalloo, twisted's (semi-)recent spotlight, if you want some prime examples of trackitecture. it is ll, though, so i don't know if you'd be able to.
  • Hydro%s's Photo
    ok i understand now, thanks!
