Haha, thanks for the compliments, Magnus! You've got a really good eye, and I'd say you're the one who's been improving by leaps and bounds, especially with your enthusiasm and vigor into this.
The distortion toward the wide end of my 18-200 is definitely something I notice a lot now, although I'm generally content to have it in my snapshots and just make sure the overall horizon feels straight.
The Point Dume pic people climbed to the top, although you can also walk to that point from another location. But in that shot, the guy on top climbed.
Last shot was taken from a car toward the side of the road. lol
Thanks for the comments! -

I'm *finally* getting around to posting galleries from my Study Abroad in France... 1.5 years ago. All of these pictures were taken with my old Canon Powershot G3.
More from Paris:

(25 new pics to go with the 37 already there...I hope... my Firefox only shows the old 37, but Safari shows 62, so I'm hoping it's just a glitch with my temp internet files in Firefox)
La Rochelle, France:

The town's harbor is awesome. And I hear there's a nice aquarium there too. Would definitely like to visit for a full day sometime in the future.
City of Arts and Sciences:

Located in Valencia, Spain, about three or four hours down the coast from Barcelona, this complex built on an old riverbed features a ton of work from Santiago Calatrava, one of my favorite architects. And if you don't know who he is... he's the guy who makes concrete look and feel like it's light, floating, flying, and soaring. And has a bunch of those sleek looking cable-stayed concrete bridges too.
Valencia, Spain:

Just some photos showing how the city is. Nothing meant to be stunning, but it's a small virtual tour.
Birmingham, Britain:

Well, mostly around the Bullring city center complex and the groovy Selfridges Department Store.
London, Britain:

We spent one night and three hours in the morning there and managed to go clubbing all night long and also see like ten tourist sights. Even if 'see' literally meant having them visible in our field of vision as we walked around. I'll come back when the dollar isn't being raped by the pound as hard. -

Gaudi's Barcelona:

For fans of Antoni Gaudi (Natelox? Still wander around here much?), this would be the one for you. It's pretty incredible work.
Three other updates from Barcelona are on the front page. Click the sig.

So I went out to the State Fairgrounds with the intention of seeing fireworks but a nasty thunderstorm rolled in and the show was canceled. I did try in vain to photograph some lightning but it wasn't working out at all. On the ride back I was just playing around with my camera and I had a good time despite sitting in some horrendous traffic.

Cool reflections

Crossing the beltline
For being a complete novice and taking these in a moving car at night in the rain I thought they turned out okay. -

Those are very nice for being taken from something moving. I really like the second one! -

Taking photos of lightning isn't that hard.
Mount camera on a tripod, use a slow f-stop (i.e. f/22) which results in a long exposure. Keep on taking pictures and you will get the picture you want
Waiting for a single lightning and trying "to catch" it does not work at all.
In other words, it will not work out any good out of a moving car. -

^^ Magnus... you meant lightning, right? Cuz it's sort of the opposite for just lights. -

800*600px!
Out of the cam, apart from deleting a roof in the lower image part. (Could have been using a ladder instead, but was too lazy to carry it. ) -

Nice picture, Al.
I was unlucky with finding these in my bird book though. What is the latin name of these and where do I have to go to take pictures of them? Thanks in advance.
@zodiac: Of course there is a bigger version of this. I am not using my mobile photo to take these shoots.
However, I am not going to publically release a bigger version of this at the moment. Sorry.
Thanks for the comments. -

Cannon a610, beaten an bruised but still amazes me with the focus like this

The DOF is nice, but the focus is off, or at least not sharp enough where it counts. Framing is good though, and the contrast of the yellow works really well. -

If you've ever wanted to see Italy, but you can't afford the airfare or you're afraid the Euro will sodomize you, check out my pics.
Trying to get up to date on my photos and am almost done with Italy:
* Rome * The Colosseum * The Pantheon * Trevi Fountain * Roman Forum * Vatican City * Siena * Venice * Pisa * Florence *
You might have to refresh the gallery once to get it to load properly.
Along the way, you might want to check out some random pics of my hometown library in Cerritos as well as my friend's concert that he and his casual band put on at their Downtown LA loft. -

I have thousands of pictures from my trip to Europe in June/July, but I will just post this one for now as it stood out while I was going through them.
