Hey.
The job is certainly part of it. I do a lot of oceanographic surveying around the world. However I also tend to spend a lot of time travelling on my own or with a friend. I figure I might as well travel while I'm young. For example in the last 2 years I've travelled to the following with work and on holiday.
Work:
Libya,
Nigeria,
Gabon,
Greece,
Bulgaria,
Portugal,
Spain,
Malta
Leisure:
Fiji
USA
Iceland
Germany
Holland,
Italy,
San Marino,

Casimir those are awesome
did you make it yourself?
I took about 200 pictures and got 15 hits. I set my camera up on a little magnetic gorilla pod and then set the exposure length to somewhere between 1 and 5 seconds. Then using the timer option I set it to take 10 photos and let it run for a minute or two. I could then check the results and decide how best to change exposure, etc. The chances of getting a strike in a photo were pretty good since there was probably a hit every 3 seconds and the only things around were the oil rigs and supply ships.jw roomie, how many times did you miss the lightning ?

chorkiel: ebay is your friend ;P
Roomie: I wish I did ^^ This is a doll called "Danbo", short for "Danboard". It originated in a manga and became popular among photographers. You can only buy it from amazon.co.jp or from Hong Kong via ebay, they only have a limited quantity available each 3 - 4 months. -

IIRC, most oil rigs have a fire burning off LNG that gets sucked up with the oil. (LNG is incredibly dangerous to store, and so it's not considered worth the effort.)what are they firing at the first pic ?
(Roomie, correct me if I'm wrong here.)
