FYI I checked some RCT files and its not in them so I wolud not worry if you got any files from me lately. -

I hope you also have enough anti-spyware programs. Anyway you can download a free antivirus trial from here: http://www.download....tml?tag=lst-0-1
You can also can download Hitmanpro from here: hmp which downloads and steers all kinds of antispyware programs giving good coverage. That antivirus stuff also downloads with hitmanpro so if you want hitmanpro then don't download the other link. I'm not certain if it's also english instead of dutch (I think it also has english), but either way you'll be clicking a start button only. Works very well and I recommend it.Edited by tyandor, 06 March 2006 - 04:03 PM.

Ive never trusted stopsign anyway...it always seemed scetchy...
From the looks of it, you got something installed by stop sign in order to get you to buy their antivirus software...any company that does that is scetch...
Best advice...uninstall the one from stop sign, and then download avg antivirus..

Ive used it as a backup to my regular macafee...
It should cover you on that. -

yeah, AVG is good for a free antivirus. Also, consider AntiVir XP - Sorry I don't have a link, but it was a good program on my old computer until I reformatted.
Here's some info on your virus: http://www.viruslist...a?virusid=87293
And you may also want to check each of your system processes:

Good luck. -

Don't fuck around the internet (no pig porn) and you should be fine. Is it really that hard? -

I don't, the only thing I ever DL is RCT stuff, I think stopsign give me the virus itself. My mom's got a norton program she can install, im thinking that will fix it. -

actually it probably wont...norton's virus definitions currently dont recognize it.. -

What he said. My friend had the same thing once and Norton didn't do shit. I don't know what he did about it though. -

Just did some googling. It seems it pretty harmless and not much of a virus, but more something like adware.

btw Norton Antivirus always worked for me and saved my pc many times. Norton probably doesn't recognize because it ain't a real virus. -

I'm just curious. How do you guys get your viruses? I've been using a computer for quite awhile and I've only once gotten a virus, and it was from an infected Norton install. That was bad times, that was the worst virus I've ever had. I lost 1200 songs from an amazing music collection. -

I found this forum by looking up that virus name. I am currently infected. I know how I got infected. a site installed it as a required flash update.
Stop sign could not have installed it. I have used that in the past to remove a Virus that nothing else would cure. So despite rumors, it is Legit. They also provide a service to remove a Virus if they don't have the definitions so you get your money's worth. However, I hate how expensive it is and mine is expired.
AVG does recognize it, and does say "heal" etc. But it can't remove it. Reason being is simple. They don't have a feature that will let it run in batch, so it cannot possibly remove a virus that is in use. Although it will try to disable the active process, this virus keeps putting itself back in.
A few times Ad-Aware was actually able to detect it, then would say it needs to run during next reboot, but when it does it is as if the Virus doesn't exist then appears back a few moments later. Not sure how.
I still have it as I write this, but from what I see, it is a complete and total annoyance Program. It basically advertises a few different kinds of Spyware removal Programs, and tries to get you to buy them. The Programs themselves are advertised in such similar ways, I have to assume that they are all just made by the same shady company. None of which, of course, would actually remove it, since if it did, then it can't advertise anymore, to in turn make the jerks more money.
It goes a bit further than that though. I had it on my computer for over a week now, and noticed that it force installed via a fake windows update, a second program that does the same. Looks like a wheel-chair blinking between a red circle with a line through. And then it started to do this annoying thing where it would, when viewing from internet explorer, block out most pages that have Legit programs to remove it. To download a program suggested in this Forum, I needed to use Firefox.
It also occasionally bring a popup that says:
"Critical System Error!"
"Your PC is infected by Spyware. Spyware and other unwanted software refers to programs that perform certain tasks on your computer, typically without your consent. This can include installing pop-p advertising or collecting your personal information. Anti-spyware tools can only help rid your computer of spyware."
"Click OK to get software and special offers on antivirus software"
I really HATE how it pretends to be some kind of informative remover.

but.. hmm.. it looks like it works. I'll just have to wait and see.Edited by Elliandr, 14 May 2006 - 03:05 PM.

If there's something in your startup that you need to remove then download HijackThis and learn how to use it.
And, for those who don't know, you can download and use Grisoft AVG virus scanner for FREE. Google it for a download. It will help you avoid some of the nasties.
Also, always use Firefox unless a web page doesn't support it well (which is pretty darn rare).Edited by ekimmel, 14 May 2006 - 03:29 PM.

Well, it seems that NOTHING works on this ANNOYING virus. The little baloon window appearing on my taskbar, literally, every other minute. The big red box appearing over the taskbar, forcing me to pause, which stops my typing speed. And... *sigh* I see yet another "automatic download" comming up, and I *know* microsoft isn't the type to be this active in updates.
Everything can see and delete it, from many places, temp files, etc, but it keeps reinstalling itself. somehow. Isn't there anything I can use to get rid of this?
(that includes AVG. AVG is a decent program for some infections, but it has absolute no effect on any Virus I have been infected with in the last few years.)
*sigh*
Well, stopsign worked on the last Virus I got, but I can't afford it until next month... and I don't think I can last that long looking at all these insane popups.
*pulls hair out*
Isn't there anything else that works? -

Does the symantec online not have a fix? I dunno. Aside from a full reformat i'm not sure what to suggest - it sounds pretty persistent.
