But the Golden Globes is put on by the foreign press that covers the film industry. No one in the film industry is involved in voting for the Golden Globes.

Nope, it qualifies for the upcoming Oscars because it was released during the timeframe for this year's [2006] Oscars. I think the timeframe is generally the calendar year, but may be adjusted some depending on certain timing issues. I don't think that it goes much more than a week into January for the most part.
