Actually, let's hope not. That's not what Disney is about. Disney is about telling their guests a story and putting them in that story.
Indeed, Disney sets a story and that's why I like the BTM (Paris) so much while it even isn't a real thrill coaster. I really want to see if they can make a more higher thrill coaster and telling a story. This could be a good idea for a POD-racer coaster to replace Star Tours. A duelling coaster with inversions in a well designed theme: that's what I'd like to see.
btw I must say that I'm not impressed by those ride videos at all, but then again it is something relative: the one POV I have from Nemesis doesn't look special too while the off-ride shows it off much better what that monster is doing. -

I told myself I wasn't going to see any videos before to keep all the surprises...but I gave in. Like others have mentioned, not the best quality, but still great nontheless. A lot of my predictions or guesses, I guess, of what it was going to be like were very similar to how it looks like it's turned out. Very cool.
I cannot wait for this, especially the whole experience (queue, area, etc.)Edited by CoasterForce, 18 January 2006 - 08:51 PM.

Hmmm I thought Disney was in financial ruin hence why they needed to build this attraction. But even so, if $100 Million is pocket money, I still think you could have got alot more. Just an oppinion.
Edit: Holy shit, I didnt realise Indiana Jones cost so much. Maybe $100 million just doesnt get you that far after all. :' />Edited by Adonis, 19 January 2006 - 02:13 AM.

I think he meant Indy at Disneyland in California, not the coaster in Paris (in case you were referring to that).
And tracidEdge... the camera's pretty shitty. Granted, it's not like you see the yeti for a full half minute, but I'm pretty sure it's more than 2 seconds. -

Oh yeah, sorry about that. For some reason I thought I made it clear that it wasn't the Paris one (which probably did still cost quite a lot), but I guess I forgot just saying "Disneyland" isn't quite specific enough now. Usually I add on a "CA." Anyways, if you're interested, here's the lengthy explanation I got from Lance Hart on why the Indiana Jones Adventure cost $100 million. It might help explain a little why Everest cost so much too (though 100 million still is pretty surprising):
"While I don't have any real figures, I do know what some other stuff costs so I can believe Indy did cost $100 million.
Now first off lets throw in $5-10 million to MOVE the Monorail beam to fit the building in, so that cost a few million for that small project right there. These are custom beams and this is California so everything is reinforced for Earthquakes...
Next lets throw in another $10-15 million for the whole queue, temple, etc... They had to build the whole temple, very long queue and everything to go under the train tracks without you ever knowing. Plus all the effects, scenery, lighting, lighting control ,sound systems, plumping for the water fountains, emergency exits, fire systems, hidden security cameras... etc,etc,etc...
Then we're probably talking about $10-15 million for the empty shell of the ride building itself. A 3 story solid structure designed to withstand the massive weight of several heavy vechials running around. Again... this is also California, so this building is going to be solid and extra reinforced.
Depending on my figures... that is $25-40 million spent already and all we have is an empty 3 story warehouse and a themed queue.
There are several animatronic figures in the ride... at half a million each for the top of the line Indy figures (2). There must be at least 12-15 of those jeeps (EMVs) and I'm near certain that these custom prototype vehicals ran at about $1 million apiece minimum. A simple coaster train will run at park at least half a million or more... so believe it.
Toss in all the scenery (EXPENSIVE!), special effects (EXPENSIVE!), sound systems (EXPENSIVE!!), lighting & lighting control (EXPENSIVE!!), ride control software and hardware, saftey systems, security cameras, blah blah blah and it's it's easier to see where it all went.
For another example... the official pricetag (I've seen it) for Disney's ROCK 'n ROLLER COASTER at DisneyWorld was between $47-52 million. All that money spent on a standard coaster system that is now available off-the-shelf to anyone outside of the USA who wants to buy it from Vekoma for about $8-10 million." -

Interesting read, some of it seems specific to CA though. It just seems really over budgeted though, the only thing I can place it on would be the mountain - which would make sense as it is f*in huge. But still, all that money spent and all you get is a phoney mountain (to be fair, a large yet convincing one) with a semi-decent looking coaster in it, a short animatronic (looks more like a Silhouette) and a forwards to backwards motion switch. From the previews I read, I expected the ride to be immense, I thought the Yeti featured alot more.... wait, when writing this post I have came to the conclusion that my expectations were too high to start with. Basicly what Crocky said applies to me. -

I was dissapointed with the video too. The coaster looks fun, but the yeti encounter was pretty piss..
I liked the first bit, with the shadow of it jumping around and wrecking tracks (although it looks a little bit cheap, but it looks like it works well - I'm sure with the sound in there it's amazing); but the second part with, with the animatronic is just crap.
I thought I read that they had to specially design the structure and the layout of the coaster around the supports for the yeti animatronic (it's actually a completely different structure - the two do not touch, so that no vibration is transmitted through to the mountain), so I was expecting to see something a little more spectacular than that cartoony looking bit of fluff swinging about.. It looks very poor..
Also, why does the yeti look like it was modelled after the yeti from "Monsters, Inc?" It's far too cartoony. -
