As some of you may know, the TGV is one of the fastest trains in the world. With a top speed of 186 MPH, this train is no slouch. This particular coaster is themed to it. It is a DH Morgan coaster with the trains being one of the 3 trains used on the TGV lines. The Atlantique-Réseau; a train that runs to the east of France, the Thalys- a bright red train that runs to Holland and Belgium, and the classic PSE; the original TGV that was painted bright orange. Nowadays, it is the standard blue/silver livery. Anyway, here is what is to come: The Station (still not completed), and the logo; a picture of the TGV Duplex running at normal speeds.

Looks nice, actually...
Two things though:
1. What's with the path out in front of the station?
2. That purple/red building looks like shit. Ditch it or at least recolor it.

Work on your archy. Lots. And your foliage.
On your archy, try to make it more detailed and unblocky. Foliage, do it in stages, flowers at the front, then bushes/1/4 tile trees, then small full tile trees, then larger full tile trees . -

do not try to order nature. trees shouldn't flow, nature is random, go with that. be creative with it though, that's all i got to say about that.
bout the archy, it bothers me to see floating doors and obvious texture transitions. you also get the feeling you didnt try so hard on making the buildings unique (i am not refering to detail). it looks like they were placed as filler. work on that. -

Ace: Thanks; the red building will be changed. About the path, the actual coaster has one station, but I tried to make it look like 2. As most train stations have more than one quay, I tried to make this look like this one has 2 also.
Trav: The buildings will change, although the actual station won't. And the buildings are blocky for a reason. They are supposed to look realistic. I mean, I love a lot of the fantasy parks and designs around here, but fantasy won't apply here. I am going strictly for realism.
Junya: I will work on the foliage, but the buildings will stay. I will try to incorporate them into the design though.
Newk: I tried hacking the railroad track to it and it glitched. So don't expect that.
Keep them coming, but again, it's far from done.

The TGV's crusing speed, if you will, is 300kmh, or 186mph. It's top speed is 513kmh, or 320mph. I rode it a few years ago and it broke down while I was on it. Trains (well everything actually) in Europe are always on time. After twenty mintues of downtime we were just flying down the tracks. It was going much faster than 300kmh. Very fun. -

I know it's 186 MPH. I said that at the top.
I also found the TGV very fun. Just out of curiosity, did you go on the double-decker version?
Back to the coaster, the buildings have changed colours, and I will try to get a pic soon.

I believe this is what Nate was pointing out. It's top speed is 513kmh, or 320mph.
Looking at the screens again...
1. Avoid placing two trees of the same kind right next to each other.
2. That station building is extremely unrealistic... You'd never see thatch, wood, tile, and shingle roofing on the same building. None of the slopes really seem to work, and the building is completely rectangular. Also, the main station is built to a smaller scale than the two buildings to the side.
Uhm... yea, that's it for now.

^Gotcha on the speed of the train.
About the station, I like to keep them rectangular for a reason- they are easier to work with, and I hate to have them going over 3 stories. The thatch roof will go, and I will try to make the roofs more uniform. And besides, you haven't seen it...yet.

I love that train. I only got to ride on a single level blue/silver while I was there and not a double level (which are faster). Goodtimes. -

I rode the TGV for three round trips. I think I rode double deckers twice. I also rode the Eurostar on the London/Paris route. Eurostar can't compare. -

God Damn! Why don't we have these things in that states connecting major cities!? Then again it would kill the airline industry as a train trip from Chicago to New York would be nearly as fast (and definently much cheaper) than a plane... Supposedly if oil really does crash on us here in the next 50 years trains will become the main mode of long distance transport. Seriously think about it... We (humans) can run trains on just about anything. If a motor of some kind can run on it and train probably can...
Anyway on the screen: Please kill the thatch roofs, they don't work and nor do they fit with the theme of the ride. Try to ease the transitions between textures as well, particularly on that station building which I actually sorta like. The way the glass rooves are set in there between the steep ones is rather pretty I think... Another thing I don't get though is those paths leading up to the brake run from the main path... Confusing...
Could be worse, and the coaster itself looks like it could be quite good... Then again nearly everyone (even Jkay (!)) can build good coasters these days.

===NEW SCREEN===
Okay, the thatch rooves are gone. I added a few more trees around the coaster, although they might chage. The annex thing attached to the station will be changed, and I dunno what to do about those houses to the side (they might be cropped; if one can see them, can you tell me what to do with them?).
Here's the screen:

EDIT: Unfortunately, Chicago is not electrified, which the Acela needs to run on. Plus, the Acela's (the American version of the TGV) cruising speed is only 130 MPH. Also, the TGV uses its own track (it isn't a different type; it just has a dedicated line) so it can run full speed.Edited by Dan, 02 January 2006 - 07:08 AM.

Sorry to say this, but the project is on hold indefinetly. There is something wrong with my F drive because of, presumably, a virus found on THIS site. If you want to know, I was just browsing the NE forums and checking my project. This is the only time I went online TODAY and everything is working fine before then. So, to the webmasters, check this site for viruses.

Do you live in France? Anyways, SNCF was always on time and I rode it about two-three times a day when I lived there. -

I've been to France on many occasions, but no, I don't live there, unfortunately. I have family there.
