Kill Bill Vol. 1/2
I found these gems as I was searching through the TV schedule for Encore (aka the only movie channel we get with basic digital cable), so I set up my DVR to record it. Kickass movies all the way. -

Closer.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I can't believe it even got made. This piece of shit was dead-on-arrival. -

I was gonna watch Requiem For A Dream the other day, when it was on More4, but I watched Family Guy instead cos I didn't feel like it. My friend tells me Pi is also worth a look. Maybe i'll ebay them.
I saw the X-Men 3 trailer on apple.com/trailers, though, and it looks great. -

Pi is better than Requiem for a Dream, but then...
Well, let me tell you a story, right?
See, I was wanking to some degrading Japanese porn one time, right? And the problem was, it just wasn't enough to get my dick hard. I mean, these whores were cuzzling cum like your mother - they had to, because every time they stopped or spat out, they'd get hit up the ass with a baseball bat. That's not the point, the point is, it wasn't enough to get me off. Feeling adventerous, I decided to look for something to perk Little Git up. First I tried to find some rape videos, and they were good, don't get me wrong, but they were always fake, which didn't do it to me.
Then I found it.
A two hour video of a woman taking a shit.
I'm telling you right now - no lie - that two hour video was better than Requiem for a Dream in every conceivable way. -

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Great movie... still not as good as the books, though.

Oh yeah, I guess I saw Pi pretty recently too. Forgot about that. Probably because when it was over I was wishing I had been doing something else. I wasn't too impressed. I didn't think it sucked, but maybe the whole thing was just too far over my head for me to like it, and there wasn't much else that I felt was really redeeming about it besides it's "deepness." I wasn't sure if I got the point, but it was just that there wasn't much of one, or if the point was just so above my head that I completely missed it. Oh well, unlike 2001, where I felt like I might have some idea what it was about after the first time I saw it and I was thus compelled to watch it again later, with Pi I don't think I'll be watching it again later. I just didn't really care. 4.5/10
Anyways, I just watched V for Vendetta. Pretty good. I got just a little confused near the end, and I have a feeling I would've liked the graphic novel better, and I probably would've appreciated the film better if I'd read the novel first, but it was still pretty good. 8/10 -

I think the plot for Pi is really good. Darren Aranofsky is just a crappy director who relies too much on cheap gimmicks, which is the worst thing about it.
I think you're right, though, there isn't much to Pi besides its various concepts about God and the universe. But then, I don't think it needs much else.
Yes, I know, these ideas have been around long before Pi existed, but for most uncultured assholes like me, Pi is going to be our introduction.
Just think of it as a better version of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Replace the Nazis with Jews.
...
Anyway, I saw Pi way before Requiem was even released, and after hearing all the hype for that movie, I was massively disappointed. The cheap MTV-style filmaking came to the forefront, the plot is nonexistent (like in Pi, in a way), and the entire thing is melodramatic, unrealistic, and ridiculous. It is unintentionally hilarious, though, I'll give it that.
(the last movie I've watched is still Closer. Sorry.)Edited by catachresistant, 28 March 2006 - 10:51 PM.
