General Chat / Last Movie You Saw?

Captain America - Nothing groundbreaking, but fun and entertaining and well worth the watch, and a fun twist at the end. The most notable parts of the movie are how Marvel is tying together all their recent movies with clever things like having Tony Stark's dad in this film, the best thing about doing this across multiple movies is that it insures some sort of quality, otherwise they'll have to live with the shittyness later. (Also, there's a sneak peek at the end of the film, watch ALL the credits, takes forever but it's worth it.)
    7/10

Terminator - Wanted to re-watch this having not seen it in a while, and it's still just as awesome. A huge landmark for sci-fi and effects (even if some of the effects are hard to watch they're so awful :p), but really, it's crazy how good of a story this movie actually has, very very well written. It has a very high spot for best trilogy, maybe only with LOTR and Bourne proposing a real challenge.

Harry Potter pt.2 - liked it more than most of the films. I didn't like how everything solved itself and Harry really didn't solve any problems. Though it had some strong moments and I thought the final battle was pretty good compared to some movies.

Blue Car - Terrible, terrible movie. I only watched it because I kinda know one of the actresses in it (the girl that kills herself, if you've seen this piece of crap).

Last night I watched Inception. Fucking brilliant! I got lost at the start but by about half way through I had caught up with it. The Inception itself was ridiculously confusing! I mean, you go into the first dream (city). Then you go into another dream (hotel). Then you go into another dream (snowy mountains). Then you must go into another dream (his own world) :???: What were the writers thinking when they wrote this? Well, it won four Ocars and the visuals are stunning!

^I advise you to rewatch it. Inception is a fantastic film, even better the second time around as you pick up on little things now you know the story. Easily best film of 2010 for me.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (IMAX) - For having the face value of a moneygrabbing piece of shit like Transformers 2, this was probably my favorite action movie of this year. It was nothing groundbreaking or new, but it was everything you could ever want from a new Mission Impossible movie, and more. I had a ridiculously good time watching this, and it was either because my expectations were low and I got a warm surprise, or because it was in IMAX. I don't know what did it, but go see it.

    8/10

Almost Famous - Great stuff. Very charming, and it draws you into the age where music was king incredibly well. For all you oldies, you'll probably find this very sweetly nostalgic. After it, you'll want to grab a record player and blast up some Led Zeppelin, great stuff.

    9.5/10

Inception the smart film for people who don't watch smart films.

I haven't seen anything in a while. The last I saw was probably Scotland, PA, which is a sort of interesting take on Macbeth but has way too few jokes for a comedy.

    Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Saw it today at the Paramount Theatre. It wasn't in IMAX (Paramount can't/doesn't want to afford that kind of tech).
..It was good; the music was catchy and fast paced, with the obligatory MI theme mixed in about three times, of course. I would even go so far as to say that the Indian music is an ear worm.
Onto the plot; it wasn't anything spectacular, though the part where

But let's not get technical-it's an action flick, it doesn't (and probably won't) always make perfect sense. Of course,

Look at me, tearing this film apart.
Anyway, it's just about what you'd expect from a sequel [of a sequel (of a sequel)] of MI. And of course the end of the movie has an obligatory sequel hook...
That's about all I've got to say, really. An average film, with what I expect to be mediocre reviews and box office earnings. Well almost definitely not that last thing, but you get the idea.

Haha, exactly what I thought when I watched it. I was rather let down by the film, because everyone had told me it would be like "the best film evar", but it wasnt. It was just a nice film. And maybe I completely missed something out, but I didnt find it hard to follow the story?

Oh and speaking about films that are easy to follow: I recently watched that Disney Atlantis film.

Inception is one of those that gets better every time you see it.

And RCTmasta, the point of going to movies is so that you can enjoy them. So if you're going to critique the fuck out of a movie like Mission Impossible, you'll never have any fun.

    ^^ Loved The Inbetweeners Movie!

Just watched Mission Impossible last night at the IMAX theatre, and damn, I was impressed. I didn't have high expectations going into it and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Unlike Inception, this one was worth it to see in IMAX, as they actually filmed some scenes with IMAX camaeras.

^Indeed. Sticking to the spoiler free attitude, the scenes in Dubai with the Burj Khalifa building are insanely beautiful in IMAX, totally worth it.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Ever since I saw the first trailer, I was very hyped for this movie, and I was thoroughly disappointed. It was a relatively graphic R for what seemed like very little reason, and the story wasn't all that great. I have to take into account that it was from a book which I've never read, so I don't know how much of the story was just bad on their interpretation or just bad from the beginning. After all that, everything else was great. The actress who plays the girl with the dragon tattoo is Erica Albright from the Social Network, it's an unbelievable transformation, I hope to see her in more things because she clearly has a lot of range for her acting. The filming, shots and editing were also very well done.

All in all, I'm confused, so I'll just give it 2 ratings. 6/10 for story, 9/10 for acting and production.

Zodiac - Thrilling and suspenseful, a great recreation of the era, and a shocking true story, this was a very good movie. (Wow, lame review... go see it anyway.) 9/10
