Just finished watching Terminator Salvation. Considering it's the fourth Terminator movie, it was not at all bad for a sequel. Though I still enjoyed the roller coaster more. -

Eagle Eye-
Acting was decent and cinematography and score were pretty solid, but the plot had so many holes in it that it couldn't be taken seriously. Not to mention that the whole thing was like a bad mix of 2001: a Space Odyssey and Live Free or Die Hard. Wouldn't recommend it, that's for sure.
Taken-
Didn't expect much, but I was presently surprised. The plot is rather predictable, but still enjoyable. The brutality of Liam Neeson's character is just unreal. In ever fight scene, he's not trying to disable his opponents, he's trying to inflict as much pain and damage as possible, and has no qualms with taking excessive measures, like shooting his boss' wife to get answers. The plot was wrapped up a bit too conveniently, and the music was pretty crappy, but I'd watch it again. -

Get Smart.
It's actually pretty damn funny with a lot of good one liners and such. I didn't expect much but it was actually a solid film. I think that the previews gave it too much of a kiddish look however it had some decent action scenes which were pretty enjoyable. I felt the director did good with the transitioning between the comedy and action.

Kinda makes you wanna eat organic food. Oh well, can't afford it, and that's the sad truth about the system I guess. -

New Moon:
I went in with pretty low expectations, but it wasn't all that horrible. I suppose you can't drop that much money on a movie and not come out with something decent. Sure, it's typical teen drama bullshit. The music was excellent, the cinematography was pretty good, and the pacing of the plot was excellent for a two and a half hour movie. But as I'm saying this, let me point out that these compliments are meant for the production value you alone. Acting was laughable, and the dialogue... just, wow. And really, at some point even the Twilight cult has to ask themselves: What the fuck? There's a group 4-5 dudes that just run around with no shirts for what purpose? Sparkling vampires, werewolves are suddenly pack animals?
The only real lasting effect of this movie is making me feel pretty inadequate about my body. Now I know why all girls think they're fat.
Sweet November:
Typical chick flick with a twist ending that doesn't really end. Which is okay, because Keanu Reeves would have ruined that ending with his horrible acting. I really remembered this movie being a lot better when I watched it a couple years ago. -

fantastic mr. fox
fantastic movie. its such a classic wes anderson, its just amazing. the animation is so interesting (12 fps!) and the plot is so amazingly ridiculous you have to love it.
if you didn't know wes anderson, that's the royal tenenbaums, the life aquatic, darjeeling limited, etc. -

Just watched Surf School on YouTube. Harland Williams is alright as a surfer god. Typical teen movie, though I was surprised to see some life lessons (one which got thrown out the window later in the movie) thrown into the plot.

Saw Invictus last night. I really enjoyed it. Great acting by Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, especially. I can only imagine that this must have been an incredible story for South Africa in real life, and I think the movie captured that well.
But in terms of recent Clint Eastwood movies, I liked Gran Torino more. -

I saw Invictus Friday and loved it. I was enthralled with the rugby scenes...had never seen a rugby match before so that part was just really fun to watch. I liked this movie much better than Gran Torino though...because it was more uplifting.
MA...you MUST have went to those movies with your girlfriend and so kudos to you for being so sweet to her.
I cannot wait to see AVATAR.
