The Love Guru- 8/10. Seemed a little short, but it was full of that classic Mike Myers comedy. Would love to go see it again. -

Watched three movies today, actually. I couldn't find anything better to do.
First: Herald and Kumar Go To White Castle
Saw this on Comedy Central. It was censored, but this was my first time watching the movie and I must say, it was still really funny. Now I'd like to go see Herald and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay. Overall though, the movie gets 8/10.
Second: Dude, Where's My Car?
Watching Herald and Kumar made me want to pull out this movie. I consider it one of the greatest two-dudes-smoke-pot-and-then-go-on-a-crazy-adventure movies. It's also got some of the most memorable scenes of any of these kinds of movies. "An' den?" I always give this movie a 9/10.
Third: Cheech and Chong: Up in Smoke
No marijuana movie fest is complete without watching Cheech and Chong. The first two movies I watched wouldn't exist without Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. These two defined what weed in the movies is. Their antics are undesputable classics. And my favorite two lines from the movies:
CHEECH: Dude, how fast are we going?
CHONG: I think we're stopped, man...
This movie deserves a 10/10.Edited by Xin, 30 June 2008 - 08:13 PM.

I noticed that if you watch the movie and then read the book, it's a lot better. I saw Jurassic Park and I loved it. Then I read the book and it was even better. I read Eragon and I loved it. Then I saw the movie, and it sucked.
I watched Billy Madison this afternoon. It was on TV, so I watched it. Classic Adam Sandler movie, BTW. -

The last thing I saw was a collection of animated shorts on DVD, but since I watched them all at once, I'd say that counts in a way. I saw the entire disc of John Canemaker: Marching to a Different Toon. I thought that WALL-E was a good movie, but had too many references and the robots looked so realistic that the cartoony effects felt uncanny. If you want to see a really interesting bizarre space cartoon with an akward romance, watch the first episode of the short Latvian cartoon series Fatnadrom: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=VtL6FrJtni0
The female mouse with a crush on a bionic shape shifting cat is far more interesting than a stupid romance between two childish hunks of metal. Plus the synthesizer score is in a whole different world, unlike the one from WALL-E. -

I saw The Dark Knight last night at the midnight showing.
While Nolan is my favorite director of all time, I have to urge you all to see this. Batman Begins was phenomenal, but The Dark Knight is better. There were a few too many little clichéd Blockbuster one-liners here and there (I thought Nolan was better than that!) but overall, it is an astounding movie experience. Yeah, Heath Ledger is getting a lot of posthumous hype for his role of the Joker, but it is definitely deserved. He successfully walks the bizarre line of making the audience cheer for him and despise him at the same time, while being completely and utterly disturbing. But this is the brilliance of all of Nolan's movies; there is no black and white. Every hero is a villain in a way, every villain is a hero, too. Morality is questionable, this movie wrestles with this so well. Batman Begins was a vengeance driven story, much like The Prestige, and Memento, but Dark Knight focuses less on the revenge, more on personal choices, more on nihillism, more on so many levels. It also succeeds as a summer blockbuster with ridiculous visuals, (which I care less about). Well, all I can say is that I hope Nolan gives a middle finger to the industry and makes the third one I think he agreed to do 3+ hours. haha
Fucking Christ. 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Just go see it.Edited by postit, 18 July 2008 - 12:39 PM.

Batman & Robin was better.
:' />
NO WAY! Are you serious!? B & R is hands-down one of the WORST comic to film adaptations! This series of Batman is way more "real-world," and waaaaaaaay closer to the actual source material. Heath Ledger is BRILLIANT as the Joker; makes Nicholson's portrayal look like Bozo the Clown.
Batman & Robin was garbage. ew.
I saw TDK on midnight thurs night and will be seeing it again in IMAX and maybe even more!
The Dark Knight was amaaaaaaaaaaazing!Edited by Soulcist, 19 July 2008 - 04:54 PM.

I heard something like that on TV. If you put them sise-by-side, Nicholson sucks. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm going to kill myself soon if I don't.
I saw this afternoon, for the tenth time. My favorite line from the movie: "Town is where everyone hates you." NE must be my town... -

Saw Dark Knight yesterday morning, and ever since, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it/analyzing it in my head. It's really that good.
Recently this hit #1 on the IMDB's top 250 list, and of course, you get all the defenders of the Godfather (and part two) and Shawshank who want to shoot it down. Some people just can't stand to see a "comic book movie" be rated higher than the more "intellectual" films--and this is a shame because people who think like this are missing out on one hell of a movie.
