Well i was pretty bored last night and there were some decent films on TV.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
Unfortunately i missed the first quarter or so of the film, but i understood what was going on. I've seen the original and i've always held it in pretty high regard, but this seemed pretty pointless. I couldn't really find any 'horror' in this film and it wasn't particularly interesting to be honest.
Overall i was let down, i thought might be a decent film.
The Grudge
Well this is a film i've been meaning to watch for a while, and i caught it last night. Again i missed the first 45 minutes but i understood the general idea of what was going on. First thing that struck me was i never knew that the film was in Japanese with English subs. I'm happy to watch subtitled films (i'm a big fan of Crouching tiger etc..) so that didn't put me off. The general storyline seemed alright, some interesting parts (alot infact, i was never bored).
The only problem was that i really didn't understand some of the relevance of certain things. I'm guessing though that it was because i'd missed the beginning. If not, then it's just a very confusing film.
It was decent though, i'd like to catch the whole film sometime.Edited by Lloyd, 23 August 2007 - 04:32 PM.

Children of Men
An interesting story, but the doom and gloom perspective was a over the top. Very depressing. In fact, I would go as far to say that it is the most depressing movie I have ever seen. One feature on the DVD was "Possibility of Hope" which was actually more depressing than the movie.
I want to give it both a 10/10 and a 0/10.
Could it be that the world is seriously that depressing right now? I'd say so.
Way behind the times, I know, but I tend to avoid topics like this because they're more depressing than, say, watching Children of Men. Actually, I gave up hope of ever making a movie partly because of topics like this. Because I know it doesn't matter, and it will never matter. Oh and I thought Children of Men was the best movie made in the last 5 years, maybe more. And 300 offended me on so many levels, it's not even enough to give it 0/10. I think I'd have to go with -10/10. You wanna talk about depressing? That movie is infinitely more depressing than Children of Men. -

Bourne Ultimatum.
Loved it, but then again I'm a sucker for good action/spy movies. The only part I disliked was the open ending. -

August Rush - 6/10
Personally, the only good thing in this movie is Robin Williams. He gets 9/10. The movie, on the other hand, sucked. -

Sunshine. It was excellent sci-fi for the most part, but I really didn't care for the direction they went in near the end. It was like watching 2001, then having Cube show up for the final sequence. Still, I liked it, and will just pass off the ending stuff as necessary cliche. -

Just got back from seeing I am Legend. Brilliant movie. Seriously, Will Smith deserves more credit. 9/10. -

No Country For Old Men is the best movie of the year and will most likely take Best Picture at the Oscars.
