Not going to read everything, don't wanna spoil the movie...
I think i'm going to see this movie in the theatre, it sounds awesome to see in a theatre. and the occasional once in two or three months theatre visit could definitely make its way into my life! ;P. Anyways, i don't think it's playing yet, here.

I don't know how it's possible not to notice with all of those down shirt shots.

Yes, I really appreciated those as well. Kudos to the cinematographer. :D :D

Anyway, I finally saw it today and was pleasantly surprised. I remember watching the original 1933 version and enjoying that a lot. I think I was like 9 back then, and I really empathized with the big ape. I was very sad when he died.

This version tugged at those strings as well, altho not as much since I'm older now. But it was definitely very touching. I loved Ann's interaction with the ape and the emotion.

When I heard it was three hours, I thought the movie would drag. The original was only 100 minutes... how could a film possibly be lengthened? Well, surprisingly, the pacing turned out to be just about perfect. There was a solid backstory set up, and the way they went through each scene was well timed; not too long, not too short.

Jack Black certainly impressed me as well. I've never been a fan of his other stuff... it's a lot of physical gags to me, but he impressed me by actually acting. So kudos to him.

And yeah... Naomi Watts... what a hottie. Kinda makes me want to watch Mulholland Drive again. ;)

It was very good. Not the best film of the year (I failed to be entirely convinced by the ape and didn't get entirely emotionally attached to any of the characters) but definitely worth seeing.
I saw it with my grandfather, who saw the original in the cinema. He liked it.

I saw it yesterday night, it fucking rocked! Got a bit uncomfortable after the two hour mark, because our cinema has terrible seating. However the film was fantastic, much better than the original, that Peter Jackson guy is a genius- everything he does turns to gold. I saw the making of this film on MTV this morning too, the guy who played Golom in LOTR played Kong! Amazing, he had to study gorillas all year.

Yeah I can't help wondering if Serkis is worried about being typecast - both Kong and Golem are monkey-like beasts obsessed with objects much smaller than themselves...

Just saw it, it's pretty nice. Some really cool parts, the bloodsucking creatures and the natives in the beginning being the yuckiest =P. Kong was nice, but somehow i wasn't too incredibly attached... for three hours it might have should have done that (the movie). Kinda.

Amazing movie, and the fight between the t- rex and kong absolutly rocked.

Did anybody else find it funny when you saw all the people avoid being trampled by the dinosaurs and then there was a shot of a man rolling on top of the dino pile?

I also found it funny when the T-rex droped down onto the vines with kong, and Maiomi looked to her right to find another T-rex stuck on the vines.

That fight was excellent, me and my mate were with girls aswell so they were crying at the end tut tut, women and there dam emotions.

i found the trampling big dino scene really unrealistic, how the hell do you keep from being trampled to death so long, with so many people? the raptor like dinos were cool though.

and ^, just tell 'em you pitied kong too =P. "soooo sad".

I found the 25ft gorilla pretty unrealistic, too.

this my favourite movie of the year so far, although, i admit, i haven't been keeping up, and few of the "acclaimed" movies seem very interesting. it isn't quite king kong as i remembered it, and i would have appreciated more of a bite and edge, and a bit less cuteness and sentimentality, but it was a wonderful movie anyways.
