Brazil will win the world cup. Theres no one even close to them at the minute.
I will be putting an each way bet on Mexico and Holland.
England to get to the Quarters or Semi's. We always disappoint. -

BumP!
Only 6 days!!
I still think either the Netherlands or Brazil will win it...
I hope though, that Germany will beat Sweden in the 1/8 finals, so we can beat the Germans out of the tournament in the quarters

I hope he does, i actually ROFL'd when he did it against Hungary, i want him to do it tonight aswell lol. It was funny, cos when he came on everyone thought "ah, its the lanky, useless piece of shit"... But then he turns out to be one of our best players and score a great goal! Now everyone loves Crouchy, hes kinda like England's new mascot.
Talking about useless pieces of shit... Michael Owen.

Anyway X250, what's your opinion on selecting Walcott for the English side? He made more minutes for the England team then for the Gooners. -

Firstly, lmao at your pic! :-p
Hmm, im not sure what to think really. I think that Walcott is a good player (he is one of the fastest players in the world apparantly, doesn't neccessarily mean he is any good though lol). But the past two friendlies he has shown promise, he is a very 'direct' player, which i like. I think he could offer a surprise element for England, cos nobody really knows who he is and what he can do. Either way for Sven, i think it was a smart move. Even if he does not play it will still be very good experience for the kid- i reckon he will be a first teamer in the future.
However out of the two young players for England, (Walcott and Lennon), i think Lennon is the better player. I've seen him for Tottenham a few times, and he is pure quality. Problem is, he is a right winger, which is where Beckham plays lol. But if Sven could bring him on as a substitute after about 60mins, he would rip any defence apart.
There is some good competition for the world cup this year, i reckon it will be between Brazil, Holland, England, Portugal, Czech Republic or France. All of these teams have looked good in friendlies too, so its hard to say lol.
...But looking back at the groups, I am so glad England were not put in group F. Brazil, Croatia, Australia & Japan? That has to be the hardest world cup group ever!

mmm... i still say both group c and e are much stronger. australia could surprise, i'm looking forward to the friendly tommorrow..
i don't think portugal is that good, anyways, in terms of quality brazil is milestones ahead of most teams as scarface pointed out. holland has one of the broadest selections like, ever, and are doing very well up to the world cup (only more reason to dissapoint, though).
there's no way to predict a world cup though, look at the last four last year if you want my point proven. -

Wir sind die Hollander!
We are going to own everybody, seriously. I mean, look at our matches. NL - Cameroon 1-0, NL - Mexico 2-1.. Under the lead of Marco van Basten we've never lost a match.. Says enough. And ofcourse Cameroon and Mexico aren't tiny football states, so that says enough of out qualities.
I mean, look at the Germans. They're sure they'll become worldchampion because they won with 7-0 from Luxembourg. OMG? Luxembourg at home, always hard?! -

I love Peter Crouch. (aka: Rodney)
He does a great robot dance too, very infectious. *dances*

So my mom ordered HD espn and espn2 for this month. Starting the ninth, I'll be watching the cup. I'm so excited. -

Judging by the US's play in friendlies, I hold out little hope. We'll make the elimination bracket sure, but I don't see us going much further. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Anyone know which games will be shown here on ESPN? Only the US games or some other good ones as well? -

Eh, I think USA has a lot more potential to win then Netherlands and Italy both. I've watched almost all of their friendlies, and while the scores don't say much, the way they've been dominating possession and moving the ball around on the attack has impressed me. However, the Brazil team is insanely good IMO and very underrated. I think if USA is able to get past CR (which admittedly is not likeley), they'll have a good shot at finishing in the top 3 or so, and perhaps they will even win it all. My guess for the champion would be Brazil though due to their strong attack with both Robinho and Ronaldinho, along with strong goalkeeping in Dida. -

ROBOCROUCH FTW.
Also.
Brazil have a serious weakness in Dida. He has been on really poor form all season, well, ever since he got hit by a flare, and anyone who can smack long shots on target and then have strikers following up are going to score against Brazil. Although it's more of a question of stopping Kaka' and Ronaldinho, who are easily the best two playmaking midfielders in the world.
Adriano has also been really shit this season, only scored 3 or 4 goals in competitive Italian matches since Christmas and got into uneeded spats with Veron and the whole of his club squad.
I think Brazil will still win though if Kaka' and Ronaldinho are playing at 70% each. -

brazil underrated? wow. everyone i know seems to think brazil is the best team around, where do you live? Naming Dida as a strong force is ridiculous as well, definitely not the strongest keeper around. (preferring van der Sar and Cech for example) As mentioned, Brazils strengths lie in the tons and tons of great attacking players. From old, experienced wing backs Roberto Carlos and Cafu, to Kaka, Ronaldinho, players such as Juninho Pernambucano that won't even play, Ronaldo/Adriano possibly. The fact is, people like Fenerbahce's Alex don't get selected here, damn! Lyon's defender Cris should help keep the defence together a bit, too.. I'm looking forward to seeing Brazil play :).
