Argentina lost because of Pekerman imo..
I mean, why the hell not bring in Messi, one of the world's best players!?! No, instead he brings in Cambiasso in favor of Riquelme (a more defensive midfielder for Argentina's attacking midfielder). Sure Riquelme doesn't defend, at all, but why the hell are you gonna play defensive when you're 1-0?! That's asking for trouble, even more because Germany is pretty good when they have a lot ball possession. Pekerman got a second chance by bringing Messi in for Crespo, but no, he brings in Cruz, who hasn't done anything of importance for Argentina this WC.. Messi would've slaughtered Germany's defense..
I think Pekerman noticed he was wrong, and therefore fired himself

Anyway, I don't like the way Germany is winning; With more than 90% of the crowd being German, and bassically doing everything to manipulate the game in their favor..
I think they'll be in the final, although Italy will be tough; Now they have to play against a really strong defense (and maybe the best of the tournament).. Besides, Italy can counter attack like no other team..

    SF

    BTW; Come on England!!

That's also true...but the referee influenced a lot...
Why the hell did he put Cruz...I was at the school, watching the match, and when Cruz was selected...everybody started complaining...yeah, it was a mistake, he didn't do anything at the WC.

Argentina lost because of the referee? WTF? Now I can understand why they said people from argentina are the worst looser all over the world. No offence, but the refs are doing a really good job.

There were two really obvious penalties for Germany. (Both times foul on Ballack.) Then he gave Podolski the yellow card very early in the game for a harmless foul. The next minutes there were two or three fouls comitted by Argentina which were much harder, but he didn't give them a yellow card. I could go on and on with this ... .
In the end I thought the refs was more a disadvantage for us then for Argentina.

Actually I think the refs are great in this World Cup. Ok Mr. Poll was a bit stupid with the 3 yellow cards, but it didn't have an effect on the outcome of the game, so it doesn't matter too much. The Netherlands also complained about the ref after loosing and again their calls were perfect according to the Fifa rules.

Well we won and so the party goes on :)

Well done Germany! I didn't watch all the game cos i was at a party, but i saw some highlights this morning and it looked pretty interesting. As soon as i found out it went to penalties i knew Germany would win, the Germans have always been the God's of penalties (bastards... hehe). To be honest, i think Germany now have a clear path to the final, i mean Italy always seem to crumble when it comes to big matches. I am hoping for an England vs Germany final, just like '66. :p

Magnus, I have no idea how you could possibly defend the ref from that Holland/Portugal game. He had absolutely no control over the game, gave Figo a yellow card for a head-butt (uh...either you send him off for it, or you don't give him anything) and allowed the game to descend into farce. I'm sure FIFA rules expect a certain level of discipline from the referee - he just looked like a helpless fool.

My dad said he thought Lehmann was off his line on the last penalty. I don't know because they didn't show a replay, but even if he had have been i'm not sure the referee would have done anything about it. I'm expecting Germany to go through to the final, but i'm still backing Brazil to win the Cup.

Looking forward to the England game now.

I think Klinsman, depsite all the bad press, made the best decision i have ever seen by a manager, by taking Lehman instead of the clown that is Oliver Kahn. Lehman is a world cup winning keeper, but so is Robinson. =P

I believe the refereeing this world cup has been pretty aweful. The amount of cards speaks for itself.

Maybe it's because I'm used to premiership football, debatebly the more physical side of the game, but the referees reach into their pockets for anything in this tournament. A good example I think is when the ref sent of Lucic of Sweden for the tamest bit of contact. About 75% of all fouls seem to be yellow cards. Then again, about 75% of fouls (and 50% of all tackles) players seem to go down rolling around on the floor. The beautiful game is being tainted by diving and poor refereeing in my opinion.

For the record, I didn't fine the Germany vs. Argentina ref all that bad to be honest.

Well that game was chaos yes, but it was mainly because of the players. Actually I think the ref made the most of it. If he gave Figo and all the others a red card for their hard fouls it would have been something like 5 vs. 6 players in the end (though according to the rules that isn't possible)

Still I didn't see it being a disadvantage for the Netherlands and so I think it would be wrong to say they lost because of the referee.

No, no no...I didn't mean that Argentina lost because of the referee...
Argentina and Germany played a great match, and I admit that Germany has a great team, and they did the penalties better than Argentina.
What I was saying is that the referee influenced on the match, I'm sure that he missed some faults that could favour Germany, but he also missed faults that could favour Argentina...that yellow card he gave to Maxi R. was an error; I mean, it was penaltie for Argentina...
Pekerman also influenced...sadly, he didn't have the opportunity for making 3 changes, because of Abbondanzieri...but he didn't make the most of the other 2 changes...well, Cambiasso was ok, but Cruz...damn, why did he put him?...
Anyway, yesterday I wasn't on the mood, so maybe, I said things I shouldn't...
I said that Argentina deserved the match...CORRECTION: no team deserved to loose, but that's how the sport is...sometimes you loose, sometimes you win...this time, the penalties lottery were for Germany. (I guess there weren't as nervous as argentinian players, so they carried out them well)...
Oh, BTW...what did you mean with "Now I can understand why THEY said people from argentina are the worst looser all over the world."
    I disagree...that's not true.

Unlucky England...It just had to go penalties :/. Oh well, we did our best and we showed that we can play as good as a team that got through to the semi-finals, with only ten men and two of our best players not on the pitch.

England knocked out again by another bunch of fucking retarded dick-sucking cheating bastards. That fucker Ronaldo wants his fucking head kicking in, cheating bastard, bet his fucking boyfriend is proud of the little shit. I guarentee he will get killed as soon as he gets back into Manchester, if nobody does I'll do it. And surprise, surprise.. we got a fucking retarded cheating Argentinian referee, we may aswell have not played... all he did all night was cheat to Portugal's favour. And what the fuck was Rooney sent off for? Getting fowled? Sums up all Argentian players/officials really, fucking lowlife cunts- i mean, what language do they speak again?
Proves that there is no justice, and the world cup is still as corrupt as it ever was, i can count at least thirty occasions where one of the Portugal players dived on the floor, and one of the ugly fuckers came over waving their hand at the ref. Yet the FA do nothing about it after...
I can't fault England, we were yet agan cheated out of the world cup by a bunch of cheating, ugly cunts. My only regret with our performance is that we did not stoop down to their level and cheat, of course when England do it there will be a formal investigation... FA stands for 'Fucking Arseholes'.
I just hope all the Portugese team dies in a plane crash on the way home, with the Argentian referee. Perhaps then they wont cheat again.

end of rant, dont take any of that seriously, just pissed off

Christiano Ronaldo, break a focking leg. The Portugees did it to us, and too bad also against the English. Portugal :foc:

    lol

um... someone's a little bitter. I suppose it was all the ref's fault that England couldn't score even one goal in 120 minutes of play, and that they couldn't convert the PK's. :p

England's played mediocre this whole tourney, and you know it. :D

You're American therefore you opinion means nothing on this subject.

Ronaldo is a prick. Can't really fault Ricardo though, very good goal keeper.

Portugal didn't deserve the match...They did nothing. England played much better, and with 10 players. (At first, they weren't playing as good as they played after the referee gave Roney the red card)
Even if I'm argentinian, I think that England had to pass to semifinals.
  • X250%s's Photo
Sorry, but fuck off Cork, if you knew anything about football / actually watched the match you wudnt say that. :)

I'd love to see Christiano Ronaldo's leg broken, i'll ask that for my birthday.

Also... a bit weird that we actually play better with 10 men lol.
