What mystery is there left in King Kong? Hooray he fights a TRex. Hooray he goes wild in the city. We already know what happens so why the hell show all the lovely effects in the trailer so they aren't a surprise in the film?

    View Post

Because it's quite obviously going to be about more than the visual effects. The first scene in the new trailer, the quotes from the cast and crew, and the 3 hour running time guarantees it.

Universal was hesitant over the length until PJ showed them an unfinished cut a few weeks ago. Now they're wildly enthusiastic.

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to all three.

    You're both wrong.

Tolkien was a devoted catholic, Lewis was originally an atheist. It was Tolkien that turned Lewis on to religion.

I hope we get 3 Extremes here in Tampa. We probably won't, but it looks like an awesome movie.

    Hello.

    It's actually a masterpiece.
I caught it up here in NYC last weekend even though I have owned the DVD for about a year now. It's great to see amazingly-directed horror on the big screen.

    CG...
If you can try to check out the full cut of "Dumplings" from "3..Extremes". It's very very well-done.

This man's got it...my Bible as Literature teacher just discussed that very fact today. Lewis went atheist->theist->Christian.

I will definitely watch most of the upcoming fantasy movies this year, since it's my favourite genre.

I'd have liked Narnia more if it wasn't for the whole annoying Christian propaganda thing. Movie looks OK.
But, other than that, Harry Potter and maybe King Kong, there seems to be no fun movies...

Are you serious? That movies looks like crap; it looks like a rip off of various other stereotypical sci-fi movies. I'm personally looking forward to "Walk The Line", dunno why, just looks like a good movie.

So I saw Harry Potter at midnight, that was pretty fun. I'll let you decide what you think about that on your own. But...

Fucking, on the "Twenty", they previewed King Kong (fantastic by the way), and Peter Jackson is TINY!!! What the..?!

just saw Harry Potter and I was surprised, cos i had expected much worse.
Well, it was VERY compressed and the beginning was quite hectic, but in the end i found it quite good.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
I see from the ads that Ron Weasley's turned into a skater.
Even Hogwarts has its cliques, I suppose.

don't ever give that blasphemous advertising a name.

Call it "stupid shit before the movie"

But where are all the good independant movies? It's sort of become a new outlet for Oscar-bait, hasn't it? Nothing more than a bunch of boring cliches. It's been going that way for a while, but I've been in denial, unfortunitely, I can't deny it any longer. There's always been movies which rose above the boredom, but I can't think of a single one this year. Was Brown Bunny this year? No, last year, right? Along with 'Saddest music in the world', and a few others. There isn't a 'Brown Bunny' or 'Saddest music in the world' this year, is there?

I just looked in the IMDB 'Indie' section, and there's nothing. Just the same stupid horror films and comedies coming out of the major studios, and the same stupid cliche "I really want an Oscar! Please, please, please, please, please? I'll do anything! Anything! Please?" movies coming out the major studios' smaller divisions.

Go see Paradise Now. I don't know if it's playing everywhere, but it's in theaters right now in Los Angeles. It's neither Oscar bait nor cliche. The Constant Gardner wasn't great, but it was at least an interesting movie that didn't fall under the category of "soul-less cash-in" or "shameless oscar plug". Out of other movies I've seen recently,A History of Violence was just kindof "meh". Hard to recommend that one. Serenity was a good time. Good Night, and Good Luck I wouldn't recommend to everyone, but I enjoyed it. I also enjoy watching the History Channel though. I'm looking forward to Syriana as I enjoy most of the movies George Clooney is involved with lately and that one looks particularly good. But for the most part you're right, it has been a down year. Narnia and King Kong and Geisha all look like they're going to disappoint. Oh but definately go see Paradise Now. Film of the year I'd say.

    About what?

I dunno. I guess you are really affected by the intention of movies. I don't think PJ makes movies just for the money. But, that might not be what you are saying?
