Ed's lament prompted me to check what was going on with the NBA tonight. Spurs held off Nuggets. Dallas came back to beat the Suns. Kings got thrashed... by New Orleans?!?!?!
I didn't think it was statistically possible for N.O. to have the best record in the league this year. And what's up with the NOK abbreviation? It's like New Orleansklahoma or something.
Hopefully the Lakers can put the Nuggets in an 0-2 hole tomorrow night. *doesn't hold his breath* -

Well, I guess the Heat are my team this year since that's where GP's at. I've had a different favorite team the past couple years with him switching from Seattle to L.A. to Boston and now Miami. Maybe he can finally get that championship he deserves. Hope he'll be playing alot, but not counting on it with Wade and Jason Williams both able to run the point effectively. I think they moved Wade to SG so hopefully Williams and Payton can share duties pretty evenly.

wow
what a start of the season.
when i woke up this morning i was 100% sure dallas lost against the suns, by 20+ points.
without stack and with dirk just hitting less than 40% from the field. then i opened nba.com and couldn't believe what i saw.
what a game. being down by 17 and come back. dirk's three 3-pointers in the 4th bringing the mavs back. wow. what a great game and a great start for the mavs.
also didn't expect dirk to make 10-21 from the field. in the preseason it was more like 3-11 and his performace at the european championship could have been better either.
but he seems to be back. if they just had a good center . . .
this makes me want to play basketball again -

Geez, Magnus. Don't ever trust preseason stats to determine how a great player will perform throughout the season. The Spurs were 1-7 and they sure as heck aren't going to finish the season with a .125 winning percentage. -

My Celtics predictions:
They'll fight for the 8th playoff spot (and probably lose), Al Jefferson will be excellent, and Celtics fans will finally turn on Paul Pierce. -

Why Payton? Did he save your grandmother's life once or something? -

Celtics win. Nice. Delonte West was on fire, holy shit. Still can't figure out if he's black or white, though.
Also, Mark Blount's name is now pronounced Mark Blunt. And I laugh every time Heinsohn or Gorman says it. -

Clippers win! w00t! Was kinda annoying hearing Ray Allen so often by the Clip's announcers like he's some God or something. But who cares! We win!
And they're on their way back to Staples to go up against a "new, fresh and fun(?)" Atlanta Hawks. Are they really supposed to be good this year? -

Hawks just had Jason Collier die. I'm not sure they'd call themselves "fresh, new, and fun."
And no they're not supposed to be good.
Clips beat the Sonics first game of the year last year too... and then what happened.
Now I'm watching the Lakers play like crap but still manage to have it tied vs Denver. We'll see if they can pull it out.
And I take back all the riling jokes I made over the summer against SMUSH Parker before I knew who the heck he was. This guy saved us tonight (if we won; if not, he still played really well).
EDIT #1: WOW. Denver just fucked that one up by shooting w/ 10 seconds left in the game. Either Kobe w/ the game winner or Smush. (my prediction)
EDIT #2: Lakers win! Niiiiice game winner by Kobe after Kwame almost blew it by shooting with 8 seconds left. And that was after he nearly fumbled the ball away. Odom sucked too. Instead, our heroes were Devean George and Smush Parker.
Again, I take back all the bad things I said about Smush because of his silly name. Kid can play. For one night at least, LA reigns the Pacific. We didn't play too well; Denver should have beaten us. But they didn't play well either, so our win is more of a "shoulda happened" than an upset. -

I didn't surf around the games last night; I just watched the Wolves game and I didn't watch ESPNews afterwards so I didn't get to see much of any other game.
LOL @ Cork for not starting Miles. He was being guarded by Wally. That will be a trend, BTW. Start any and all SF's against the Wolves. -

Yeah. I hate you.
Wait, how did you know I didn't start Miles... in my OTHER league? -

I have no clue what's going on, but I'm winning.
And fair warning. I will probably reject most trades proposed to me until I get a better feel for the scoring system and players. (i won't be taken advantage of...) -

Go Utah! Daron Williams is incredible, about time Sloan puts the rookies in the game, we beat Dallas by 11. -

BTW, A big "Thank you!" to the kind person who dropped Deron Williams in the NE fantasy league...
