Haha, yea, it'll be camouflaged by the Ford Contour exterior!!!!
I drive the least likely vehicles to put a system in, don't I?
Btw, does anyone have a drill bit that'll go through, oh say, the firewall in my car?
Oh, and Todd, if I screw everything down to one floorboard, it's unlikely that'll it'll be easily stolen, esp. if most criminals only spend 30 secs on a crime scene and then dash. Also, it helps if you live in the area NOT associated with the ghettos. And this is Texas, we're not the brightest state in the world (47th of 50, I think). -

i wish my camry had a system. that'd be kind of funny actually. but, i agree with the 10 dolla, the couple madvillain tracks, 2 dizzee rascal ones. actually, most of the songs on boy in da corner have harsh bass. also sex love and money by mos def would bang pretty well with that low brass playin. -

Yeah, personally, I like the sound of my trunk rattling. Nothing sounds better! When I hear somebody elses license plate about to fall of, I just have to think to myself, "Damn. That guy is the baddest mother fucker out here."
Me, I'm running 20 14" subs. I just line 'em up in the back of my pick-up and let that shit fly. Rediculous? Hell no. You can never have enough bass.
From a musical and physical standpoint, however, too much bass is just as bad, if not worse, than not enough. It makes all of your music sound like fucking AM radio. All bass and no treble. Have fun with that shit. The stock radio sounds better, and it doesn't make you look like a retard. -

Try again. I've never driven a Honda. I've only owned Nissans and a Ford. Nice try though. And yes, if it's waht you were going for, MA, I think the idea of "ricing" a car out is old and retarded, not to offend anyone here. -

All bullshit aside, there's a musical concept called the Pyramid of Sound. Basically, its easier to hear higher pitches than lower pitches. So to compensate for this, there must be more volume from the lower voices to be heard equally. If you want to visualize this, it looks like a pyramid.
So to put more bass than necessary just makes it sound like it did before. And even so, with 4 subs, youre not going to hear anything other than the bass anyway, so maybe you should just ditch real music altogther and get some songs written for just a bass and drums.
And yes, I know you don't drive a Honda. You could be the smartest person in the world, but there's no way in hell you're going to fit 4 subs into a fucking civic. And if you're having trouble coping with me being an asshole, I don't know what to tell you. NE isn't here to be your crying shoulder. Ask Turtleman. -

Question: Have you ever been to any car audio competition? Possibly no, but for a person who has, it's not really about the quality of a song when you want to hear it from a nice audio system in a car. The object is usually to see who's can produce a louder sound out distorting the way the song should be heard. And the reason why people love subwoofers so much is because you FEEL them, not just hear them.
Oh, and if you weren't taking in distance as a factor with the pyramid, you would be true. But, since bass is able to move through objects and travel farther, it can be heard from greater distances and clearer when an object is in the pathway.
And furthermore, you make it sound like I'm only turning on my subs and going with that. Wrong. There's a little thing called an EQ which can make songs sound the way you want them to. -

Distance? Dude, you're drawing at straws. You're in the driver's seat. Any distortion due to distance is nonexistant when you're 5 feet from the system. Going to bring up wind and temperature? That affects the sound, too. I think the Theory of Relativity might also apply. And assuming that you're completely correct, that just makes your system sound even worse. Just use your EQ to turn off the treble completely.
And yes, you're correct. I have never been to a car competition. I drive a shitty Nissan pick-up (from before they started calling them the Frontier), and the only money I've spent on it has been to repair the damage due to accidents. I used fucking spray paint on it. Low gloss, Walmart brand. Does that answer any other questions about how I feel about cars?
More or less, you're debating for a distorted sound, and I'm debating for a pure sound (pure, as in the way the composer/artist originally intended it to be heard). Either way, I fell dumber for having wasted my time on this. -

I will. And then I won't have to listen your whining asses.
You people may understand concepts of theories and equations on how a system should sound, but I honestly think you've never been to a concert or listened to anything rap-esque with hard-hitting bass. Some songs are meant to be played and beat the shit out of. I'm not gonna put on some Mozart and see how bad I can make it. There's a reason subs were invented. And stop accusing me of turning off the treble all together. You contradict yourself, MA, when you say that. Since treble is heard better then bass at the same dB level, the bass won't be all that hard to overcome.
And when I said distance, I was going more for a very open space, like 50 feet or so away. Not that I'm driving a big rig, or anything, just generalizing. -

Yeah it's great when you go to a concert and you can feel the bass, but all the time in your car? No point, really, not to mention a good way to hurt your hearing. I mean I spent $400 on my "system" when I got my Jeep (two front speakers, two 5x7 speakerboxes mounted on the rear wheelwells, and a deck), but only because the one it with was pretty much dead. Mine sounds great. I have no need for anyone outside of my vehicle to listen to my music (though they do, since my sides and roof are only made of fabric). -

Dude, if you cant understand how 4 subs will overpower a simple melody, then you're a hell of a lot dumber than you let on to be.
