General Chat / Worst Hurricane Season Ever

    Devastated by flooding.  Hahaha.
I don't know if you get your info from the Weather Channel, or some shit like that, but nowhere here is really devastated by flooding.  A few random towns got walloped (Keene NH, this means you) but there wasn't widespread damage.  That dam didn't break, Taunton wasn't washed away (though a good city-destroying flood would be good for that shithole), no one's dead.  Jesus.  I hate the fucking media.  One city in Louisiana gets some water in it, and now the media claims the Apocalypse every time someone gets rain.

You know what's gonna happen with this so-called Superstorm?  It's gonna rain tonight and tomorrow, a few rivers might overflow their banks, three or four houses will get wrecked, Taunton will not be destroyed(sadly), my cross-country meet on Wednesday will be postponed, and northern New England will get a shitload of snow meaning early season openings and stellar conditions for November at most northern ski areas.  I fail to see the bad in any of this, except the fact that Taunton will be spared.

Well, for the "superstorm", that is what Accuweather called it, which is a bit of an overstatment imo. As for devastated, that was probably the wrong word. Alot of areas in the NE don't need any more rain though.

The only people who hope for shitty weather are skiers and surfers.
And insurance adjusters, as it would be.

man, I would if it was actually cold enough to snow on mt. baldy. Alas, no such luck, so I hate the rain along with the rest of the mindless masses.

and you never surf after a storm(for sanitary reasons), or during one (not unless you have a death wish).

My hopes and prayers go out to Kumba, Iris and anyone else in southeast FL. Boca Raton was literally ground zero and Miami even got hit pretty hard. Some of these losses are worse than Katrina. Its insane.

Incorrect, Jelly! Quincy alone got fucking totaled, and every street I drove around today nearly had atleast two houses with moderate flooding. Not to mention every field is now the neighborhood's personal swimming pool. And I might be wrong (and my souce could be, too), but the local newspaper - The Quincy Sun - mentioned one death, but I don't know how it happened.

And today I was walking home from school and this kid got knocked over in front of me. He fell into mud, too, since they're buildings apartments right next to the T. Things didn't seem to be in his favor, but whatever, dirt is alright.

It's all good here. Lost power shortly before I left for school this morning, but I guess it came back on right after I left. It's stopped raining already. The wind kinda sucks, a few large branches down here and there, but no big problems that I've seen. Worst thing was driving over the bridge over the harbor this afternoon, as water was getting blown up onto it. I got a Jeep though so I wasn't scared of that. I was scared of getting blown over, but uh, I made it. Also, there's a leak in my passenger side so there's a big puddle on the floor, but I don't sit on that side so I don't care.

yeah dude... we got it really really bad here too...
we just got power, but the waters still not really safe.
many of my friends in their mobile homes dont have homes anymore... its terrible...
we had tons of power lines down, and a whole lot of trees down.
the huge palm tree in my front yard fell down on top of the power line. it was cool.
i have some pictures of everything too...
but even though hurricanes are terrible and annoying, it has really brought my community together, and everybody is helping eachother. its pretty cool...
but what really sucks is that i left one of my cords from my guitar pedal at my church, and the roof blew off the church right over the stage, and i cant find it.
water got in the building, and got all of the instruments and sound equipment soaking wet, and ruined it all... ( except for the new drumset we just bought)
    but yeah... it does suck...
    pictures up soon as well
