I was looking at this the other day, and although it looks like a fairly good layout, I hate the positioning of it. I love the compactness and look of the Geogria Scorcher, and placing the coaster here would ruin not only looks, but may possibly alter the ride's popularity because of the looming structure above it. They coulda placed this new coaster in a better place... or better yet, built something that would've fitted into the park's boundaries better... -

Can you understand how quick Oblivion got boring.. especially after a 3hour queue line -

Just out of interest, why don't people like Goliath at SFMM? I went on it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definately in my top 10 coasters, probably my top five. But then again, we don't really have anything like that in England and I've never really been on anything like it.

I've not been on Goliath, but have been on Titan at SFOT, which is just a clone with an extra helix, so theoretically, it should be better than Goliath. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. It's fun, but in my opinion, it is one camel back and a turnaround away from being a top 10 coaster. That's really all it needs...just one more floating hill. Other than that, I find it to be incredibly smooth and quite enjoyable. But I love the drops more than the high G forces of helices, so SFOG's Goliath looks more like my taste.Just out of interest, why don't people like Goliath at SFMM? It's kinda like how Nitro looms over Batman, I guess.I was looking at this the other day, and although it looks like a fairly good layout, I hate the positioning of it. But at least it's not sitting in a freaking parking lot. -

Goliath is just so..boring. I mean, whoa I'm turning and stuff, no, that's not fun. Fun is a lot of airtime, hills hidden in the terrain, and an open car. -

The two major complaints I hear about Goliath are that it's first drop is a ramp, and that the midcourse brakes are too strong. The ramp thing basically means that it's at the same angle most of the time, unlike MF, where it's constantly changing. I enjoy Goliath, it's probably in my top 15, but I agreee it could use another camel-back or two. 'Cause the one camel-back is easily my favorite part of the ride. I think the helixes (What's the plural of helix? Helices?) are fun, but it could use a few more hills to round it out. If it had them, it'd be top ten.
I've heard some people say that Goliath is better than Titan, but I don't see how that'd be possible. -

Yes, I'd have to agree that Titan/Goliath's float hill is te best part and that they need more to them, but then again, they weren't designed by B&M. It was Giovanola who built 'em and Ingenieur Büro Stengel GmbH designed 'em. Just to be pointed out. -

I wouldn't say that I dislike Goliath. I just don't like it all that much either. The first drop is fun mostly because of the tunnel. It definately does suffer from that ramp problem. The little bunny hop after the turnaround is fantastic, but that's the only airtime on the ride. It plows into the brakes and practically stops and then there's that hideous helix (which I don't find fun at all) and it's over. Add to that the total lack of theming (okay so the queue line is themed anyway) and the total lack of surprises, and it just isn't a very fun or memorable ride. Which is how I feel about most of the rides at SFMM actually. Except Ninja, which is pretty much the exact opposite and symbolizes everything I like about coasters.
On a related note, I just rode Manhatten Express recently and that's a fun ride for the first 20 seconds until the twisted part starts. Then it gets jerky and lame. Which got me thinking. I've never been on a real hyper coaster. Goliath is more twister than hyper coaster and far too short. And I could tell from the first 20 seconds of Manhatten Express that it would be really fun. Maybe I'll have to make a trip out to ride Desperado sometime soon. -

Well, I went on Silver Star a few weeks back and I really enjoyed that thing. It's first on my list of favorite coasters. The airtime is great in it's subtlety. You get raised from your seat very gently (front row atleast, because backrow is a killer). It's fantastic and it actually the first coaster I rode that was comfortable concerning leg space.... minus the Vekoma SLCs I rode though
Silver Star is however 10 meter higher and 400 meter longer then this new Goliath though. I hear a lot of people complain about these 'trim-brakes'.... I really don't mind them since they hardly make any difference in feeling. I didn't haver the feeling of being slowed down (partly because you're climbing ofcourse) Besides I think you want them because I though that backrow was quite intense on the air hills, but also that I couldn't get any breath properly on the first drop (misjudged it... had to wait for the bottom to take a good breath again and I'm not kiddin' here). -

goliath is horrible. it is the only ride i blacked out on, and you can thank that fucking helix for that.
it is basically one huge drop and thats it.
