Its really amazing how many new texas fans I have met since last night....bandwagoners.
The only USC fans I know are CorkyWhite is our go-to guy. Bush is our playmaker.
What a combo they are too! White is sooooo underrated, hope he flys your coop too and turns proHere's MY final rankings of the year. They do NOT match the AP/USA polls exactly, because they're my opinion.
1. Texas ("Hook 'em Horns" is still the gayest slogan I've ever heard)
2. USC (despite the loss, their performance assure them of no lower than a 2nd place finish)
3. Ohio State (strong win over ND puts them over Penn State IMO)
4. Penn State (great game vs FSU, but OSU played better)
You forgot Penn State beat Ohio State, or did you?
Well, that was by far the best game I've seen since the Buckeyes beat Miami for the National Championship. I hate when people say this play, that call, whatever.....jeez, champions are made on that field despite that. Get over it. I picked USC to win but I was glad Texas won. I'm not a fan of either, but since the Buckeyes played Texas 25-22, I did know Texas could beat them.
I don't think Vince Young will go pro. I think he wants to stay in school, maybe get another national championship, Heisman...BUT
I'm hoping the Buckeyes will quash that early in the season next year in Austin. I think that game might determine who will be going to Arizona next year. Hopefully, the Buckeyes The Buckeyes own Arizona and have won three of the last four Fiesta Bowls, including the 2002 national title there. I think going back in 2007 would be sweet. -

Did they? Damn, I guess I did. Oh well... I think at the end of the season, Ohio State could have beaten Penn State, especially given how fast Troy Smith has improved.
OSU's 2006 schedule looks brutal tho.

I wasn't aware you play Texas again. That almost guarantees they won't meet for the National Championship tho. So that's what AP meant by "and they have to play OSU." -

Some dude wore a Texas shirt to school today. What a jackass. But he also wore sandals and it's December, so he's probably gay anyway.
But uh, about that game. Holy crap. Vince Young is incredible. Better than Michael Vick. But uh two outstanding teams playing an outstanding game...a beautiful thing, especially since I was mostly unbiased (though I was rooting for Texas, not that I cared too much). Good to see. Should be interesting to see Reggie Bush next year playing for the Texans, and Matt Leinart on the Saints. -

That was a great game. Everyone I know was rootin for Texas, Big 12 pride, Texas Pride..whatever you wanna call it, we (Texas Tech) always root for Texas teams when they're not playing us.
Good game, I'm just hoping vince goes pro instead of returning to the Big 12 lol. -

Guess I was wrong. Vince Young's going to the pro's.
So much for Texas repeating, but I'll bet AP is stoked. -

Actually, it does make sense, even though at first I thought it didn't. The man's already got himself a national championship. All he really has left to get is a Heisman...an individual honor. If anything, maybe the fact that he's forgoing that award shows he's more of a team guy and not an individual guy. Well, we'll see. Steve McNair will be a good mentor for him, he's a smart QB, it's just that his body doesn't really work with him anymore. -

Yeah, it's definitely the obvious thing to do, but he'd been all "I'm staying at Texas" for weeks, even after the Rose Bowl win. So he sorta pulled a Mike Williams in a way. But I doubt Texas fans will be upset, since he led them to a title before he left, and that's usually more than enough to leave the fans satisfied. -

I know I'm a bit slow on this topic, but since I'm at UT... yay! Not much of a boaster, so I don't gloat too much. Usually.
What's your guys' standings on the Bowls '07? I'm sure it's either Penn State or Ohio, but who else? Maybe I'll vote for the Hawkeyes. -

Bing, Justice, Matua leave USC early for NFL draft
ESPN.com news services
LOS ANGELES -- Southern California lost two more juniors to the NFL draft Sunday, when All-American safety Darnell Bing and tackle Winston Justice informed the school they would skip their senior seasons.
The Trojans have had five underclassmen declare themselves eligible for April's draft since losing the Rose Bowl to Texas, starting with running backs LenDale White and Reggie Bush, the Heisman Trophy winner and possible No. 1 pick in April's draft.
Guard Fred Matua announced that he was going pro on Saturday.
"To leave a great school like USC is hard," said Matua, who turned 22 on Saturday. "Any time you do something like that, it's hard. But I prayed about it, thought about it, and the opportunity's there and I'm trying to savor that."
Matua was an All-Pac-10 second-team pick last season. He said he entered the draft to help his family financially.
During his high school years, Matua's mother battled breast cancer.
"The hard work is in my hands," he said. "There are a lot of things that need to be done in my family. There's a lot of financial struggles that I have, there's a lot of financial struggles that need to be taken care of."
Matua said he hired Steve Feldman as his agent.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft was Sunday.
Tim Tessalone, USC's director of sports information, said Bing and Justice told him they would be leaving for the NFL. The players weren't available Sunday for comment but intended to officially announce their decisions on Monday, he said.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Bing had 50 tackles and four interceptions this season.
Justice started every game after missing the 2004 season when he was suspended from school for flashing a pellet gun at a student. Both are considered possible first-round draft picks.
With Bing leaving early and senior Scott Ware out of eligibility, USC will have to replace both its starting safeties next season.
The departure of Justice means USC will have to replace three of its five starting offensive linemen, including Matua and senior guard Taitusi Lutui.
Before this season, only defensive end Kenechi Udeze, wide receiver Mike Williams and middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu had left for the NFL as underclassmen under fifth-year coach Pete Carroll. -

Well, I think this just about wraps it up for this thread. Draft talk can go into the NFL thread. We'll start another thread for the 2006 season come mid-summer or so.
