ipark, i use a phone for talking and texting, not for taking pictures (that's what a camera is for!), nor for listening to music (that's what an iPod is for!).  i've tried out the keypad on the razr and while i didn't get it right at first i am sure it will come with practise.

thanks for the comments on the phones and service guys.

Well, have it your way. I was just pointing out some of its faults, but it seems you're pretty set on it. I would still never buy one because of the clumsy and painfully slow menu system they have. I really think the keypad would be annoying if you were using it all the time too..

And I just like to have everything (camera, mp3..) in one thing I carry about with me anyway, instead of having 3 seperate things you'd have to trawl about.

btw.. why is america so slow at getting new phone models? You're like the last place in the world to get all the new models, and you usually don't even get a lot of them.. What's that about?

actually, I hate that we don't get the awesome phones. Japan is like, 10 years ahead or something. It makes me sad =(

It's really some kind of technological "limiting" of sorts, so to speak. It's extremely annoying. I think our policies are pompous, but I THINK they are that way to prevent too much dependance on technology that we aren't the top developers of. There's a lot of things (and information) that just doesn't reach US soil. Just one more way they try to control us.

    ooh, conspiracy theories.. ;)

also, something new to add about the razr. I was playing around with my mom's phone yesterday, and pressed the side button to get the front screen to come on to see them time. The stupid thing's *so* slow, that the front doesn't all come on at once, it kind of scrolls on to the screen, loading the picture.
I don't know if it's supposed to do that or not, but I can't see any reason why they'd make it that way. And if it isn't intended, that's pretty pathetic, especially given the pic on the front is only taken with it's VGA camera.

I would have an extra $40 a month.

I do fine without one. Besides all my friends I hang out with have them, so I can save my money.

    Great fun!

I've got a question. How do you adjust the earpiece volume on the Razr? I've searched and searched and have not been able to find it.

Isn't it those two silver buttons on the side? It's actually one button, but split into two, I think.

I know it's a little off topic. But you guys seem to believe that the Razr is so great...

But then again the Razr is free on contract and you have to pay something for mine.( only on Vodafone, on O2, T-Mobile and Orange its free :) )

    OMG also the fact that

Motorola Razr (no sim) = £163.99
    Samsung D600 (no sim) = £285.99

Razr's still the hottest phone in the US. :p
  • iPark%s's Photo
The razr is getting on a bit now.. As I've said before, I've always hated the stupid things, but now they're what.. about 2 years old? Their price is down to about £120 PayG here, and they did an update of it here too (the razr v3.1 or something, with extremely useless "improvements.") I dunno why people still insist on shelling out for them when there are much better phones around.. Maybe they just won't pay the price to get them.

blah108 : Your phone is indeed the *far* superior one. I'm not a big fan of sliders (I always get the screen scratched), but it's a nice phone.. I have the Z500, which is more or less the clamshell equivalent of the D600 (except from the 2MP camera.. mine is 1.2MP; and mine is 3G.. don't think yours is. Anyway, they're pretty similar).
