motorola rzr (razor) does anyone have one of these? i'm looking at changing providers and cingular is a big attraction right now, even more so because they have this phone. just trying to see if anyone here has some first hand experience with them.

My friend is an account rep for T-Mobile and he has one. He seems to like it a lot. I can get more specifics if you like.

that would be very helpful. the silver ones are awsome, but the black ones are even better! i'm more interested in the phones because most providers off the same plans, it's just coverage that varies. as far as i know cingular and verizon are the largest networks in the U.S.

Who gives a shit about your phone. But whatever you do, do not get Cingular.

I've had problems with my service first and foremost, and also problems with the phone itself...basically it's a big mess, and in October the contract is up and I'm jumping ship (probably to Nextel).

i want a decent phone that's small, surely you can understand that. verizon has been a pretty darn good provider, but they are over-priced and don't really offer any phones i like.

not to be pesky or anything, jelly, but could elaborate just a bit on some of the problems you had? was it coverage? uptime? over-charged etc?
thanks for all the help thus far.

I know little of the charges, as I'm on a family plan with my mom and she just tells me what to pay her every month. I've never looked at the bill myself. The trouble is the service sucks. At my house I get maybe one bar. My mother gets none. Part of the trouble, I understand, is that I live way the fuck out near the ocean, so there's only civilization to one side of my home. And that civilization is mostly populated with snobby rich people who won't allow a tower to be put up within sight of their home. But my friends who have Nextel and T-Mobile and some others get reception fine at my house and other places where I get none.

The phones they give you are pretty much trash, as well. Mine keeps telling me I have a voicemail, but I don't. Unless voicemail is broken too. And my mom's phone is really fucked up. Every time I try to hold a conversation with her, it sounds all distorted and unintelligible even if she has 5 bars or whatever.

Also, I'm pretty sure that "Razrs" are quite expensive. They are so hip you see.

alright, cool thanks. i made some money this summer and i want to treat myself to a new cell phone and i think razors are pretty cool, plus my cell phone is breaking. i live in a metropolitin area so service is never really a problem unless i am in the hills near where i live but even then coverage seems to be pretty good for cingular people. i was thinking you had horrible service problems like cutting out and shit.

i have this really odd problem with verizon where at the start of a conversation everything i say is echoed backed to me, really quite freaky.

i've been going through the plans of both tmobil and cingular and tmobil has better rates for texting and stuff which i do a lot of, but they don't offer the phone i want. verizon and singular are exactly the same. i would get full insurance for this phone as it is so expensive so that's like 5 dollars and month and then 500txts a month is also like 5 bucks. things add up really fast. i should convince my dad to cancle the landline and have us only use cell phones, that would be so much better.

edit: i didn't even read over this, so don't expect it to make much sense.

talk about hidden charges. somewhere out of nowhere my mom got $57.06 dollars of usage fees on her phone and she doesn't even use it?!?!

Razr are cool but I'm holding out for the SLVR V8, but the price will probably the same as the Razr when it first came out.

    It doesn't.

Anyway. I have no extras. I use my phone to call and receive calls. The end. None of this texting shit or anything like that.

I have cingular and the Moto Razr. Haven't had issues with either.
  • JBruckner%s's Photo
that's pretty damn small. any news on when that model is coming out and which providers are going to carry it?
  • Fenix%s's Photo
Coming out soon. Everyone says Q4 of this year. I know Cingular will carry it and maybe T-mobile. Not sure of others. Search on Google, lots of info.

i found the razr for free, so i am pretty much set. thanks for all the help guys.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
Free? How did you manage that one?
  • JBruckner%s's Photo
amazon.com sir, with a $150.00 rebate and %75 savings it's free. i just have to sign up for a contract with cingular, which i am willing to risk. :)
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
    Well. Good luck with that.
Hope you don't spend too much time in the boonies.

What's the point of owning a Razr if you don't leave your room.
