WHAT!?There's no doubt that the Mavs are a better team.
Obviously you didn't watch this game because saying the Mavs got killed doesn't begin to describe it. Slaughtered? Dessimated? The Mavs are a fun team to watch and I wish them the best but until they make a stand in the playoffs they have nothing. No one in their right mind would rank the Mavs over the Kings after tonights game. Dream on.
regarding below: fair enough. -

I saw the game. The Mavs got dessimated. But teams have bad days. *GASP* Even the KINGS! Give the Mavs another shot in Dallas. If they lose, the Kings are the best team in the NBA.

Unfortunately, there's no way I'd be able to get a ticket to that game on the 31st. I'll have to watch the Lakers be excecuted from home. I don't mind. It was fun watching the Shaq get beaten by Queens from home on Christmas. I'm looking forward to it again. (a 5-game streak isn't going to change that) -

The Mavs just got OUCH'ED. Kings will have the experience in the playoffs and will decimate the Mavs if the meet in May/June.
As for the Lakers, they'd lose unless they were playing their top game. Then, a Kings-Lakers rematch would be really fun to watch, though I'd still believe the Lakers would beat the Kings.
Five in a row!!!! -

The debate is over, the Kings made thier statement. The Kings have beaten all the top teams in the league so far, and it was done without the full roster. The game vs the Mavs was just what it looked like, an embaressing blowout. As Jim Rome just said," Mark Cuban just looked like someone shot his dog". Don't think because the venue changes to Dallas that all of a sudden the Mavs will have an answer for Chris Webber, because it was obvious they don't. And ehat happened to that "improved" Dallas defense, did they forget to bring it.

Debate is over?
No sir. The playoffs aren't a one-and-out situation. The Mavericks showed their flaws as a team, when off-nights by both Finley and Nash equals failure. But do you think that everybody will be off for an entire series?
I don't. But for now, the Kings made their statement, and right now, are the best team in the NBA. But that does not mean the debate is over. The Mavs are still better record-wise, and are still the most explosive team in the league. The Kings are on a huge roll right now also. They beat the Nets by 30, does that mean that they would kill the Nets in the Finals if played? Definitely...not.
Anyways, Peja and Webber were on fire last night, Bibby was Bibby, and Vlade dominated Bradley/LaFrentz. Every Mav sucked except for Van Exel.
Anyways, just for fun.

Iris, Amare is a wonderful player with, in my opinion, quite a bit more intangables and skill than Yao, but you know it's going to Yao.
My Clippers got smashed, and scored something like THE LEAST POINTS IN THEIR HISTORY!!!1!!
Oh well, I just have to face reality. They suck. -

sorry, but the debate IS over. So many flaws were evident last night that i have seen all i need to see, and most beat writers agree, hell even Don Nelson agreed (see ESPN). The Mavs may have a better record, but that doesn't mean anything. The Kings had the best record last year, and look what happened. The Kings are a better team, with more experiance (they also play defense) which means if they meet the Mavs in the playoffs, the Kings will win just like last year. Yao will win Rookie of the Year honors, he has changed the way an offense has to be to play the Rockets, Amare is good, but when does "the wall" come into play.
P.S- Van Excel did good last night because Bobby Jackson was out. Damon Jones can't gaurd Nick, but Bobby can!

Wait. So you're going to base the entire rest of the season and the playoffs on 48 minutes of basketball?
Watch the game on Tuesday, Feb 4 in Dallas. We'll see if the Kings really have the Mavs' number or if it was just a horrendous off day.
Besides. It doesn't matter. The Lakers will beat either team in the divisional/western conference finals anyway. Yes. ...

Just to let you all know, your MVP just got shown up by his airness himself... they were both good, just MJ got his team opportunities to win. -

who's our MVP? we said Rookie of the Year. I agree the Lakers are always dangerous, but they really need to get out of thier funk and fast. Yes, i am baseing the rest of the season and the playoffs by what i saw the other night. Until the Mavs can prove to me that they have what it takes to beat the Kings consistently, and play defense, then i might change my mind. I have watched the Kings for the last 15 years through all the downs and sometimes ups. I have noticed that the Mavs are following the same plan, and it doesn't happen in 2 years. The Mavs will be a great team for a while, but the Kings are at the top of thier game now. I am not telling you all to drop your opinions, i just know what i saw the other night.

I do agree with that. The Mavs look like the Kings of two years ago to me. They've got a lot of great young players who can shoot and make a lot of points fast. They'll win a lot of games but they're still a couple years away from a strong championship run I think. I predict they'll have a strong run in the first rounds but won't get into the finals this year. Maybe history will prove me wrong... -

So aero, if the Golden State Warriors happened to beat the shit out of the Kings, would that mean that G.S would be the NBA's best team, and that the debate whether SAC is the best team in the NBA is over?
Your anologies on the situation suggest what I said above. -

DAMN! The Lakers looked like they had it until Kobe missed that free throw that allowed Francais to nail that game tying 3. Then that bad flagrant foul call against Shaq and Jackson exploding for the technical was the breaking point for the Lakers. Great game anyway (even though the hyped center matchup was stolen by the perimeter shooters).
Ah, Mavs lost again, and the Lakers coulda really used a Suns loss. Stupid Mavs. And watch the Clippers shock the Kings tomorrow. ... I'd go but my dad won't be home.

well fatha, if the Warriors could get over 500 for the season then beat the crap out of the kings, and all the top teams in the NBA then yes i would say they are a favorite, especially if they made it to the western conference finals. i never said that they are the best team ever, but this year if they stay healthy, they will win the championship. i am not baseing my opinion one just one game, it's based on a lot of information that is very evident this season.
-Mavs- best record in the league. Thier downfall, lack of experiance and a lack of an inside force (no, shawn bradley is not the answer). History has shown that teams that can't play defense when it counts don't win championships, the Kings learned that lesson last year.
If you look at the league there are only two teams that could possibly challenge for the title. Lakers and Kings.
Again, if the Warriors had the team, experiance, and coaching that the Kings have, they also would be favorites. I really don't want to get into any petty fights about who loves thier team more, and i don't need to prove my point that the Kings are going to win the title. If you look at the league and all the competitors you have to admit that the Kings are best suited to win it all, if you can't see that, then you aren't really looking. If i end up being wrong i will eat crow, but i don't think i am.

You havnt proved shit thats evident this season. Just admit, you are basing your opinion off one game, you even mentioned it in your first post. All teams have bad games, accept it and move on. Just because the Kings blew Dallas out doesn't mean shit.
And your theory on the Mavs not being the best, then tell me this. WHY is their record 31-6? Are they lucky?
Explain why the Kings dont have the best record if they are the best team.
