yeah, they already have four, a hypercoaster, invert, flying, and floorless. what else is there? besides for the fact that standups arent really built anymore these days, it would be too similar to medusa. the only other type is the dive machine and those arent popular either (maybe shiekra will bring them back). kingda ka was EXACTLY what gadv needed, just without the down time. -

B&M rides are good but limited. There are no styles of B&M coaster that Gadv could of build without repeating another of their rides.. if that makes sense. B&M wont build launched rides (another company built the launch on hulk and only after universal insisted) and stand-ups are out of fashion now.
Corkscrewed has a point. Intamin should of tested it longer but its not possible. FOr a great example look at Turbulence which was supposed to open this year at Hershey Park. When The company told the park they needed more time to perfect the ride The park basiclly told them to sod off and then sued them.
KK is basiclly a prototype. its impossible to predict what will happen on a ride no ones tested before. (look at the bars on the trains of AIR that snapped). Companies cant test everything in-house and it eventually comes down to in-park testing. plenty of new idea fail with unseen problems. (The wheels on SD2k Melting, The Problems with the Chain dogs on The Vu's, The LIM problems on ST:E) this is no new thing and will continue to happen.
The rocket concept is sound in itself. Look at the 5 Rockets running perfectly at the moment. -

LOL.The loss occurred while the ride was out of service on 6/8/05 and there were
no people on the coaster at the time. SF report they have taken the
ride out of service periodically since May 19 for 'tweaking'. It's not clear
what prompted SF to take the ride out of service on June 8. During the
launch at 2:55 PM the ride operator observed warning lights on the control
panel, heard an unusual loud noise and brought the train/sled to a halt
using the emergency stop. A subsequent inspection revealed the launch sled
had become entangled in its track and had caused considerable physical
damage to an estimated 650' section of track (there are 2 tracks- one for
the sled and one for the train itself- only the sled track was damaged). The
train sitting on top of the launch sled was also damaged and the launch sled
itself is believed to be a total loss. The insured also report the cable
used to catapult the sled/train will require replacement as will various
sensors and other components of the magnetic braking system.
The ride manufacturer- Intamin- has already been on site and will be
involved in the repairs. The replacement parts are not stocked but have
already been ordered- they are built in Europe and once fabricated will be
shipped on an expedited basis. We understand the insured will approach
Intamin regarding a possible warranty claim- we are attempting to secure
more details in this regard.
It is estimated that the ride will be out of service for at least 7-8 weeks
for repairs. This period could increase depending a how long it takes to
test and start-up the ride to the satisfaction of SF and state regulators. -

What baffles me is how the sled can get "tangled" in the track. Gah.. that sounded pretty bad, tho good thing the ride op knew what to do (even if it was the obvious thing... some SF ride ops are just plain idiots. And by some I mean most. But GAdv ops are supposed to be good from what I here.
