I am going to have to agree with you BchillerR, Xbox360.. no doubt has the best controllers ever released. Looks sexy and the most comfortable controller ever. Sony "So Innovative" have the same controller that had 10 years ago. Some innovation, hah. They need to catch back up and get the trigger buttons like GC, Xbox, Dreamcast, and Xbox360. That has been one of the greatest things on any controller. I really hate the placement of the analogs on the PS controller. The right analog is okay, but having the left analog right next to it sucks, very uncomfortable. They should have just got rid of the d-pad and put it there. Love the placement of all the buttons on the 360 controller.

Going to get my Wii on the 8th of December.
    Come on, think about it...
    - Sony announced 2 Million console units to be on-hand; There are 400.000
    - Sony announced there would be 21 launch games; There are 10
    - The console is littered with bugs. It isn't even able to play PS/PS2 games correctly...
    - NextGen games are much more fluent on the XBox360. On the PS3, they just bucking the hell outta everything
    - You have to install a firmware update ON YOUR OWN to get the PS3 working.
    -------------------------
    600$

They'll get no fucking cent out of my purse for that mechanical junk!
    --------------------------
*Oh my god, it has Blue-Ray!*
MY NEXT DVD-PLAYER WILL HAVE IT, TOO!

*Oh my god, look at the graphics!*
MY NEW PC HAS BETTER GRAPHICS AND CAN DO MUCH MORE THAN THE PS3

*Oh my god, look at the interactive controller with the tilt sensor!*
    COUGH! http://www.ecetia.co.../05/wiimote.jpg

    That's my humble opinion

I might get a Wii. The PS3 symbolizes the reason I hardly play video games anymore. Video games are getting so complicated, overblown and expensive that I'd rather just dust off a SNES and have fun and relax. The Wii is the first system in a very long time that looks very appealing to me in that respect. Plus, I won't need to take out a student loan to afford it. So, the Wii might be my first new console since I got my N64 7 years ago.

    excellent summation....I totally agree

MiFuNe@ you miss a detail: look at the price of BlueRay players and you'll see that the ps3 is a nice way to get one... I don't say I'll buy a Ps3 (I've never been a fan of ps1,ps2,ps3 games anyway). But where did you get that information about bugs by the way?

I think the Wii would be my best nextgen console 'choice'. Why?

    - I always liked the Nintendo games.

    - It is the best opportunity to play at N64 games that I haven't play.

    - It is a creative way to play at games.

i agree with Drew and Chiller mainly.

My Xbox360 is definately my favourite console of all time and I've had the best gaming experiences on it. The online mode is as near perfect as I could imagine with a beautiful, simple interface, some amazing online games and more and more capabilities coming out soon/having just come out. The game line up to me looks amazing (not sure if Nitrous' comment is true about the GTA series, I'm pretty sure it's coming out on both at the same time, but Xbox you can then download more "episodes" or something).

The Xbox 360 controllers are simply amazing. Innovative (the first controller you can turn off the console with, Sony copied), wireless, the most comfortable thing ever (better than ps3s remake of the PS1 analogue controller....oh, but without vibration and with no wire instead, which as mentioned, doesn't work as you would think).

As mentioned, the PS3 is riddled with bugs and a lot of effort on the users behalf to get the console to work to it's full potential, as well as the issue of backwards compatability.

There's the price, which is utterly ridiculous, even if sony are losing money, they will soon realise that many aren't willing to pay so much, when they can get an Xbox 360 for half the price, with the same top titles...plus more (halo3/wars, fable 2 etc. etc.). Oh, and PS3 isn't getting any football games (fifa 07, Pro evo 6) until 2008, both of which are on every single other console (apart from Wii i think)

And ps3's not coming out in europe until March/April! Nearly a year and half behind Xbox. for example, 1 of the release titles will be elder scrolls Oblivion, which came out on Xbox 360 and PC a year ago!

Anyway, that is why I believe PS3 won't do so well, and I believe that the Xbox 360 and Wii are definately better options!

I was wondering this...how will the wii play older games? I don't know if it has ports for the cartridges, but I doubt it. Will there be another way of playing old games on this, will they rerelease all of them? And what exactly will the wii games look like? A minidisc like Gamecube, or something else?

There will be a Nintendo Online Platform where the games will be released (The classic games). About 5€ per game (Don't know it in $).
The Wii has a 512 MB Flash inside for these games, but you can use SD Cards to enlarge it.
The Wii also has 4 inputs for GameCube Controllers and 2 inputs for GameCube Memory Cards.
You also can play any GameGube Game on the Wii. Just put it in the drive ;)

As far as I am aware the Blu-Ray player on the PlayStation 3 should be a moot point for the vast majority of consumers. In order to truely benefit from these new hi-def technologies one would have to upgrade his television and sound system. So why have the latest in technology when you can't utilize its full potential? At least with the DVD it worked on what everybody already had.

I live about 6 miles away form the shooting at Wal-Mart in Putnam, Connecticut. The fact that they mentioned the town on G4 because of it is both exiting and depressing, especially because this kinda damn stuff never happens up here...

Yeah, I'm gettin' a 360 most likely, then the Wii and if it EVER dips down under 300, a PS3. Of course I won't hold my breath, seeing as maybe 2010 is pretty far away :D ...

I dunno wtf you are all complaining about. I think it's great. The graphics are awesome (you can't say they aren't). It looks really sleek, besides the Foreman Grill look lol, and the games that are out now, and the ones coming out in the near future are gonna be great. Resistance, Warhawk, Army of Two, Killzone 2, and a bunch of others, all look amazing.

I do agree about the glitches and bugs, but all new consoles have bugs when they come out. It's normal. And not everyone can keep up with the technology (HD, 1080p, etc.), but if you are gonna spend $600 on a gaming console, you should be able to afford a good TV and surround sound. I'm gonna be playing mine on a 6 speaker surround sound system and a 55" HD 1080p tv, so I'm all set. I'm getting one in April.

And for all you Xbox guys, quit bitchin. If you don't like PS3 then start a 360 thread. PS3 is cool for the people who like it, and it blows for the people who don't. So get over it.
  • sfgadv02%s's Photo
I think the PS3 looks nice but I wish they had changed the controller. If you're a true PS- fan, then I am pretty sure you'll stick with PS3.

I'm still content with my PC which can outperform all the consoles. Just roll on the likes of Crysis and Unreal 3.

This topic is a discussion bout the PS3, I don't see why people who like the look of the PS3 have any more right to post their opinion than those who don't? It is natural to compare the PS3 to the other Nex-gen consoles as comparison is the only viable way to really judge how good a console is. Let people have their opinions, just because they don't match your, doesn't make them any less valid.

    Getting a wii.

Consoles are for gaming, not multimedia stations.

TP will be the best console game of all time.

I have to agree with z3r0-G mostly. The only thing people can do these days are bashing the PS3. I personally always liked the PS1 & 2 and I have to say that most of the negative talk will probably will be history within a year or 2. The game line-up may be a bit small atm, but as I said before it was the same with PSP (and lot of other consoles) a lot of proper games will follow. I can't say i'm hyped with Wii tbh. Feels to gimmicky to me just like the DS. It usually wears of in a while. Not trying to bash it btw, but I'm just not convinced yet that it's so 'revolutionary' as it's hyped to be. We'll see.

    overheard on launch day:

"What's Thirteen blocks long and has never had sex?"

    "Godzilla?"

"no, the line for a PS3."
