Xbox360 comes in at one teraflop...

I'm, surprised there wasn't already a PS3 thread made considering this came out on Friday and 99% of the people here are it's target audience.....I've always been more of a Nintendo person myself (I love Mario and Zelda), but I'd be willing to try something new. How is this thing? The graphics look stunning....certainly better than the Wii, but the price is also stunning in a bad way.

BTW, was anyone hhere one of the crazy people that camped outside Best Buy or WalMart to get theirs? Just curious...

PS3 sucks. Every time I say that at my school, everyone keeps going on and on about how awesome Blue-Ray is and how the price is worth it because of that. I personally see a George Foreman grill with something that belongs on Batman's utility belt, with no great games, and some fancy video player. Woop-de-do.

Uhm, it's with every console that way in terms of games, but really don't worry, there are enough games coming for it. I had the same with the PSP and now there are some great games out. I personally can't wait for the new Ratchet & Clank for both systems (at least the name for the PSP game 'Size Matters' is a cool title ) Won't be anytime soon that I'll buy a PS3 though. If my sister's boyfriend(for more than a decade though) didn't have a PS2 I would have bought it for the prices they are charging now. The PS3 is bound to have a price drop in 2-3 years and after that time it will have a good game line-up, which means I'm likely to buy one, although I'm a PC gamer mostly. Too bad platformers are so scarce on a PC...

I don't think I'll be buying a PS3 anytime soon. And when I mean soon, I mean with the next 3-4 years. The PS3 just has nothing of interest to me, and all I really see is a bunch of ideas they got from Microsoft and Nintendo. The only up-side I see to the PS3 is that on-line is free, but the on-line for PS2 is free (or so I'm told) and all I ever hear about is how bad it is because it's not a uniformed service a la XBOX Live.

And games wise... I don't see any that catches my eye or that the 360 won't be receiving as well. I played a PS3 demo kiosk the other day, and I played Motorstorm. I had so much more fun playing Excite Truck on the Wii than playing Motorstorm on the PS3.

So I'll be happy with my Wii60 and I'm sure they'll last me until the next-generation of consoles...

^ I dunno about that price drop. Sony is actualy losing money on every console they sell ATM. They will probably make some $ off accessories and games, though.

If it weren't so damn expensive it'd be the only thing on my Christmas list this year.

I might get a Wii. The PS3 symbolizes the reason I hardly play video games anymore. Video games are getting so complicated, overblown and expensive that I'd rather just dust off a SNES and have fun and relax. The Wii is the first system in a very long time that looks very appealing to me in that respect. Plus, I won't need to take out a student loan to afford it. So, the Wii might be my first new console since I got my N64 7 years ago.

If it ever gets down to $200 I'll get one. Until then I'll be perfectly happy with my PS2 and PC.

While Gran Turismo HD looks very, very tempting, so has pretty much ever other console for a particular game. I'll survive without one, I barely have enough time to play RCT as it is.

The thing owns this shit out of my computer.

Hmm...that's weird, because I read an article where it said that PS3 wasn't going to be compatible with PS and PS2 games.

ah...gran turismo hd (5) will be the best ever. Already love gt4. im to poor to nuy this now. aiming for the wii first.

PS3 and Xbox 360 will be exactly like Xbox and PS2. PS3 may have more space on the cd and a bit better specs, but it will not be enough to tell a difference. It is just what kind of games you are into, to me.. playstation has always been into like RPGs. I have always been more of an Xbox fan due to games like (Xbox Only) Halo (Multiplayer Only), DOOMIII, Fuzion Frenzy, GTA (upgrades from PS2 versions). And you can argue with the best mod chip around Xecuter 3.

I do love Guitar Hero for PS2 though. That is the only game I own for my PS2, well till I get my chip in the mail

As for Playstation 3, why spend $600 for a console, when the only games are out for it are out for Xbox 360. 360 just has a huge advantage over PS3 right now... Gears of War, Halo 3, GTA Series will be an 360 exclusive, I am sure it will be how xbox got gta months later. But I know that the first 2 gtas will be 360 exclusive. The only PS3 game that looks promising as of now is Resistance: Fall of Man.. but I haven't seen too much of it. Screens look sweet though, not better than GoW though.

When I picked up my new PC from best buy on the third I saw about 6 guys camped out waiting for a PS3... 4 days before the release date... crazy, then you have people getting shot and robbed for them, this is like TY beanie babies all over again, oh the horror... *shutters*

Tho the amount they are going for in re-sales like on E-bay might just be worth camping out and getting robbed or shot

The New York Times today had an article about how the PS3 is an overly-priced and unfinished console, stuffed beyond compacity with computer cells, ultimately reaching a level of graphics that are only marginally better than what the 360 can produce. And while the ad contained some postive remarks, the over-all tone of the article was prodominantly negative. Who ever wrote it added that its online capabilities are terrible, and that the controllers aren't truely wireless (syncing a controller with a PS3 must be done via a cable).

I've had an Xbox 360 since last Christmas, and it's easily my favorite console of all time. I know graphics aren't everything, but when you have them it's something that's easy to appreciate. That's not to say there don't exist any great games for it, I just currently purchased Gears of War and Double Agent, both of which are solid games. In addition, the console launched a year earlier than the PS3, and surpasses it in functionality greatly. Its online service is easy to use, with a beautiful and seemless interface to boot. Not to mention the controllers are sexy as hell.

Also, I camped out with my friend over Saturday night to pick up a Wii. Seriously, this console is fucking awesome. Who would have thought Wii Sports would ever be so addicting. Not to mention Twilight Princess is like sex. The controller is just the coolest thing in the world.
