To be fair, cg?, what I said was that you lacked either skill or imagination.
So I'm completely open to the possibility that you are exceptionally talented with no good ideas. -

Just ask WME...
About this discussion though, i can see where cg? is coming from. Though i'd like to say there were more entries that were atleast fun to look at other than nates, such as, well, wme's for instance, i too thought cbass' didn't have too much substance. It looked like fun, fun to build, and a great idea, but that's sorta where it ends. Not a lot of thought (even though... yes.) and no amazing coasters. But really, stop picking on cg?. If we were all like cg? NE would be quite the lot more interesting. I don't have a clue what he's on about with the asking wme part though. Whatever, i hope cg? actually is able to create something. Because i know for a fact whatever he does make will atleast to me look better than any shit the more shallow parkmakers cook up. (and i'll refrain using examples as i'd be pinpointing the 'better' shallow parkmakers because they're the ones i've looked at work closely enough for me to discover their shallowness, in fact, if looked upon closely most of the preliminary rounds will probably be quite shallow) (Damn, i hope i get some crazy ass inspiration for this contest.) -

but cg? if u never show a screen, how are we able to say if u got skill. nobody should say u got no skill cos we really dont know... but we want to.
But, I have shown a screen... -

Remember H2H2? When I tried to build a minipark with you? And I couldn't do it? So you had to do it all by yourself? That's what I meant. I'm no good with "small". I work on an EPIC scale. And, WME, I did like your entry, but I didn't think it was up to your full potential. So, I was "underwhelmed".

Obviously I'm overrated.
cg?, I'm just giving you shit because it's fun. Please prove me wrong and enter this contest. Seriously. -

And I thought I built large hotelsThat's all? Ick. I might not even bother entering this at all, then. I'm working on a 256 x 256 for the hotel
I for one would love to see how you can pull off a hotel on a 256er where the focus is on the hotel only, but whatever -
cg? Offline
Well, first of all, the hotel would be rather large. Each room was 2 x 2 squares, and I'm estimating over 400 of them, so that's a lot, I think. Then, there would also have been private cabins away from the main hotel, which will be 4 x 8 squares each. I'm not sure how many of those I'll build in the end. The hotel would also grow, and process, all of it's own food, wine, and tobacco. So, there'd be a farm, vineyard, and a few cellars for wine, cheese, and cigars. Then the rest of it would be a golf course, tennis court, swimming pool, highway, parking lot, river, lake, hills, and trees. But, really, that's all just filler. The emphasis would be on the Hotel. The very big Hotel.
This is all past tense because I hate it. I hate the hotel, and I hate building it. It will not be released, either, because none of it is in a releaseable state. I will, however, begin work on a much smaller version, identical except that each room will now be 1 square big, and the map will end right about when the building does. It will be a lot of work, that I'll hate every moment of, and it will not be my "grand vision". But it will be done, and it will be enough to say, "See, I built a hotel, which is a peice of shit, and didn't win, but hopefully I'll be back with a really great watercoaster for the next round". And that's better than saying "See, I tried to build a hotel, which would have been a peice of shit, and not win, but hopefully I'll be back with a really great watercoaster next round".
Edit: I meant 2 x 2 squares, not 4 x 4, which would be a lot. Really a lot. Especially considering the actual layout of the hotel, which I will not discuss, but which make the hotel a lot bigger than a hotel with 400 2x2 square rooms would be if, say, they were all just boxed together in a massive cube. -

I know you didn't mean it like this, but if I were to very roughly summarize it in a misinterperative way, you'd be saying "cBass made a brain. He didn't think about it much." Which struck me as funny.i too thought cbass' didn't have too much substance. It looked like fun, fun to build, and a great idea, but that's sorta where it ends. Not a lot of thought (even though... yes.) and no amazing coasters.
Anyway, cg?... fuck the scale issue and just build. I want to play Simon Cowell on your work for once. -

Dear Gardner:
I know you have autism and Tourette's and whatever other things but that does not give you the right to bitch and moan. Shut up and play the video game. -
cg? Offline
Was I bitching and moaning? Maybe, but I didn't mean to. Sorry. What are you talking about, specifically? I'm guessing the whole 85 x 85 deal, but, whatever. Just saying what I felt.Dear Gardner:

I am building. I just had to explain a couple things, one was in response to a question by RCTNW, and the other was so that when you get a considerably smaller map than I promised, you'd know why.
Although, it does look awfully funny! Both because it looks all streched out, and because it doesn't really "work" all by itself on a map. Oh, well. -

For some reason I just read this. And your right, which is why I didn't try and argue with that point. Although, I do feel my style is distinct, it is not very imaginative. But I don't give a crap about imagination. I want people to have distinct styles, yes, but care a lot more about them doing something worthwhile with them, at this point. To be fair, cg?, what I said was that you lacked either skill or imagination.
So I'm completely open to the possibility that you are exceptionally talented with no good ideas.
But, at the same time, I doubt my hotel will look like anyone else's. So, maybe I am imaginative after all? Maybe.
Oh, and just for fun I tried to make a REALLY small version of my hotel! 8 x 8 x 8! Maybe I should try 6 x 6 x 6? Or would that be too naughty? Probably... -

well how about if you did a villa? don't they count as "hotels" too in a way? could still have the vineyard and a pool and a tennis court and rocks and trees. and, even on a 85x85 scale, a villa that say offers space for 2-3 families should be quite huge. too huge, possibly. but it seems you want it like that.
and yes, i have not looked at cbass' pro tour entry more than once. and that was for about 30 seconds, i think.
also, this skill discussion is stupid. i don't think it's about skill, about being better than the other. that's childish. it's for your own enjoyment. if you hate playing rct and still do it, there's something seriously wrong with you. think about it and change. -

I know this has been asked befored but I couldn't find the answer - are we allowed to build dueling rides for any of the categories? Have a good idea for one week but I'd kind of need it to be dueling for it to work. -

if this is not allowed i have to kill u all...
cos then i have to do everything again. -

Well, technically, seeing as it is a self-sustaining property, providing short-term lodging, in the Mediterranian style (loosely defined, anyway), it is a villa. Just a big one. Maybe a smaller one would be better though...[font="tahoma"]well how about if you did a villa? don't they count as "hotels" too in a way? could still have the vineyard and a pool and a tennis court and rocks and trees. and, even on a 85x85 scale, a villa that say offers space for 2-3 families should be quite huge. too huge, possibly. but it seems you want it like that.

And I agree with you about the whole "skill" thing, I'm just saying how I judge parks. As for building in RCT because I enjoy it, I usually do, just not this particular challenge. But I didn't know that when I started, and, as I said, want to finish what I started. That's all... -

Dunno what Iris thinks but I reckon duelers would be ok for the coaster rounds...just that they HAVE to be duelers for the duelers round.
