Yeah, where's my park. OJ sent me an e-mail confirming that he got it and now it's GONE. WTF!?I don't know, I'm pretty skeptical already. I saw ride6's park entry which I guess was disqualified for some reason apparently. That's pretty lame. And I glanced at the themed coaster winners and it's pretty stupid. Two of them are RCT3 and barely themed. I haven't looked at anything else yet.
So much for "giving them more time to get organized". Damn and I was forgiving of the whole mess and I put 50 hours into a park for nothing. Well unless NE hosts I'm never entering again, what a horrible waste.

I had exactly the same problem. I spent quite a while on my mini-park and submitted it. I'd made sure that I had all the things asked for and then I send it and OJ sends me a confirmation. And then it vanishes. I'm actually quite appalled by the quality of the organisation behind this. If my entry had been disaqaulified for some reason, I would like to have known that beforehand.
To make my situation even worse, I was one the host site's team. If the host site's teams entries suddenly vanish, I think that just shows how poorly organised this was. -

Wow, didn't expect the win to come in the mini park...
I thought my themed coaster would have them. I did a better job with that then with my mini park. Maybe they lost it or something... oh well I'll post it here I guess. -

Wow, I get praised without even doing anything - 2003 awards, anyone?yay Mantis!
Those riders raising their arms etc is pretty cool. -

A bronze and silver....wooop!
Magnus beat me to the Gold by .001 of a point.. ..congrats on that man...thats one wicked hotel you built. Congrats on the two other medals too.
I actually feel bad for ride6. Why did your park get d/q'd? I still look forward to looking at your entry eitherway.
I had fun with the contest despite all the problems....and i sure as hell won't enter again....corky made it worth the while -

That's a big difference if you ask me
But it take the 'wicked' as compliment. Thanks for that and in fact it was pretty close. I bet if this was an NE contest you would have made first.
Anyways I beat a future parkmaker. After my logic that means I have to be parkmaker before you, JKay.
[Don't take this too serious, but i will try every now and then to get parkmaker.]

Alright! My park got Bronze!
I think if I had more ideas and time I could have had a very good chance at gold. Unfortunetly, I somehow ran out of ideas and time so I had to rush it. I'm still suprised it got bronze, that is somthing I wasn't expecting.
Congrats to everyone else who got medals and congrats to NE for dominating the compition. Next year, lets go for 100%.
My thoughts on the Olympics: This was a pretty fun contest. Even though it was a bit unorginized at the start, it did get better in that area. Hopefully next year I can be on NE's team again. Overall, it was a fun contest that I recommend to anyone.
Edit: Why was Ride6's park DQed? -

Firstly, I'm not upset about what I'm about to post so if anyone says anything nasty to Magnus you'll have to answer to me
Those spiral steps are actually something I made, but with a different wall texture. They were going to be for something in H2H3, but being forced to retire from H2H left the pieces in Magnus's hands which he then altered for this event. The only issue I have is that I have in the meantime (unknowingly) done the the exact same set in the texture Magnus chose. Magnus did a good job, but there are some problems with how the pieces match up to the existing castle wall texture, so I thought I should release the set I made as well and then let you guys choose which set to use if anyone ever wants to use them. No doors with my set tho.

I knew you would make them and I'm sorry I didn't ask you if i can use the objects.
The problem was I tried to stay in contact with you, but didn't get answers as to my pms. That's the reason why I didn't even try to contact you about this.
And something else. I didn't go for the castle texture, but for something else. I know i have had a baseblock to which my objects fit almost perfectly.
But nice to see you objects have the same problem my objects have. When you put the curved pieces together there seems to be a mistake with the colours. I really can't explain this correctly, but I hope I can tell you soon
Anyways. I just downloaded your objects and then I will decide which I will use.
We really have to dicuss about making objects. And I have to remind you of one sentence you said. I bet you know what I mean, daddy. (I owe ... [if you still have the chatlogs it was 05/03/05 4.50 pm german time] )
That's another point. It's nice that you hold your saving hand over me, but I really hope I can stand on my own feet now. I should at least learn it. (Don't want to start a discussion education here )
Anways Toon. We have to talk as soon as possible. You know the problems with the time difference, but I think we will manage. Sometimes a strong cup of coffee for you works fine. Means one of us has to stand up early or has to go late to bed. though coffee at night ...) -

Magnus, I'm not trying to belittle your work in anyway. I actually think you can stand on your own. If it's not the same texture I made then they are perfect otherwise. I know exactly what you mean about the shading not working for the curves, but I thought it better to keep the existing 1/4 curved piece and work from there than introduce even more custom scenery to fix one small mistake I made at the beginning, so I choose to overlook it . We'll talk soon, tho not today, cuz I'm off to work. -

I think they got an error trapper when they tried to open my park the first time and so they gave up on it...
Anyway here are a few ramdom screens of the park and unless I get a reply from one of the organizers by noon tomarrow I'll post the whole thing.
Enjoy.

Might as well do what ride6 is doing...
Here's a screen from the themed coaster comp... don't know if I got d/qd or something, but I thought this was better then the mini park...

Agreed the park looks pretty nifty from the screens. Looks to me like the best overall entry of the entire Olympics and it didnt even get a medal. I repeat, never re-enter this stupid Olympics thing. -

My coaster sucked, i tired to make it as n00bish as i could and i got silver.
Never enter this again. -
Toon Offline
I wouldn't call it 'stupid', but neither inter-site nor inter-club competitions hold any interest for me whatsoever. If I were site owner, I wouldn't want to enter again unless the absolute best talent at the site were all involved and I don't see that happening here. I know it always rubs people the wrong way when it's said, but 90% of the truly great parkmakers for RCT2/LL gravitate to NE, and I don't think we have anything to prove. -

Hey guys... can you tell me what error you're getting with the downloads? I just tried them and they all worked for me. If you tell me what error you get I can look into it.
Ride6, I replied to you at the Olympic forums.
Look, guys, I think everyone agrees that OJ messed up big time. In fact, he messed up so much that once he realized he was in over his head he just dropped the ball. I'm not a fan of the events, the rules, any of it. But Hawk and I felt the Olympic concept was worth salvaging, so we stepped in.
We did the best we could and then, in the 11th hour, the forums where we'd been doing the judging disappeared. All our notes, all our comments on entries, all the info on which ones were received, etc... lost.
The only way we were even able to announce the 3 winners in each category was because I'd already made their sigs and graphics. That's ALL we had to go on.
I understand your frustration. Trust me... it was frustrating for us, too. It was a MESS trying to get this stuff organized for the judges. Hawk had access to the emails and downloaded your entries from there. They were then put into .zip files by event and given to the judges. Then they had to come up with a common naming/reference for judging since athletes didn't always name their entries or tracks or parks.
If you guys KNOW someone else submitted objects and received a confirmation email, then let us know. (We didn't send confirmations, by the way, OJ did all that before it was dumped in our laps.) Don't go around to the sites badmouthing us and telling people not to participate. Help us out. If it's something that was overlooked it can be corrected. But damn, instead you guys just like to rip on people. Help us out... after all we were just trying to help you guys out!! Getting kicked in the teeth for helping isn't a whole lot of fun, ya know.
I'm still trying to find OJ so we can see why the forums are down. If we can get the forums back up then we can get you more information on your entries.
If the Olympics happen again next year it will only happen with full involvement from other sites to help organize it (and in my opinion it needs to start from scratch from the ground up). -

well probs for saving the olympics, oj's action was weak, but it reads from you post that the winners were already choosen before you lost everything, so peeps will stay unsatisfied with the results, some results i really dont get are the themed and unthemed coaster outcomes.Hey guys... can you tell me what error you're getting with the downloads? 2 barely themed rct3 coasters have silver and bronze and the only unthemed coaster that looks good has third place and got beaten by rct3 coasters?!
at least you guys tryd, but something made as big as this should be done properly.
and ride 6, that park looks amazing. -

i agree. i think the idea is worth salvaging.
But it needs to be restarted from the ground up.
THe comp this year was such a mess its laughable but fill credit for salvaging what was left after OJ's mess up.
A little input from all the sites on a btter judging process and some people who can actually handle the responsibility and we have a decent yearly event.
