News / RCT Olympics Results!

The results of the RCT Olympics have been announced, and we did... okay, I guess, but I'm sure purists at the site won't be completely satisfied, since we didn't sweep everything...

In the area of Mini-Park building, NE swept everything, with Cedarpoint6, Junya Boy, and JKay capturing Gold, Silver, and Bronze respectively.

Structures building was another strong point, with Magnus making a surprise Gold medal entry with his Palace Hotel Athena, while JKay came in just second with his gorgeous Broadmoor Hotel.

Artist got a silver medal in the coaster (non-themed) area with his coaster, Virus, while Titan got bronze with Ridge Runner. First place was an RCT 3 coaster....

rctfan1556 claimed bronze in the parkmaking contest with Land of the Dead.

Finally, Magnus got an Honorable mention, being the only guy to submit some custom scenery apparently.

There were actually four events that only got one entry, ultimately. The only thing I can say is that I wish we had gotten a bit more stuff, but given the confusion of the contest and how badly it was run and the disorganization, I understand. Plus, people have lives.

In any case, feel free to add comments and flame other sites and what not. Congratulations to our athletes for their wins, but perhaps this is an indication that we still have more to prove, since RCT2.com actually got more gold medals than we did.... Although i think we showed that in the rounds that we entered, we're pretty damn good.

    * Team New Element swept the Mini-Park Building Event
    * Team RCT2.com swept the Coaster Buiding (Themed) Event
    * Magnus (Team New Element) and postit (Team RCT2.com) tied with the most awards.
      They had 2 each - Magnus had Gold in Structure Building and an Honorable Mention for Custom Scenery Building; postit had Gold in Coaster Building (Themed) and an Honorable Mention for Article Writing.

Talk about dominating the competition! Team New Element and Team RCT2.com all but shut out all the others, and paralleled each other in almost every way possible. Kudos to RCT Town for two strong silver placements to break up the dynasties.

Also, they have talks for another one next year (not to mention Fall and Winter versions; bad idea IMO). Opinions on avenging our non-100%-domination?

If they do it too often, they won't get very many quality entries.

It doesn't seem that popular to me really - I mean, it wasn't advertised all THAT much, and it the website itself doesn't seem at all that interesting... having more than one a year kinda defeats the purpose of them BEING Olympics really. Also, there should be qualifying rounds, so that maybe new-comers may get the chance to enter...

How the hell did titan's entry get only a bronze??

I don't know, I'm pretty skeptical already. I saw ride6's park entry which I guess was disqualified for some reason apparently. That's pretty lame. And I glanced at the themed coaster winners and it's pretty stupid. Two of them are RCT3 and barely themed. I haven't looked at anything else yet.

Why doesn't the staff from NE take hold of the reigns and manage the RCT Olympics properly? U'd do a much better job.

Hmm, didn't medal but wasn't expecting that either... Only managed to send 1 thing in because of various reasons and it was rushed >_>

Plus I had a bad experience with the NE Invitational.

Must have not been many good entries for me to get bronze... cuz it took me under twenty minutes...

anyways. i really wonder about my gold medal and the honorable mention. i mean jkay's structures entry was at least as good as mine and i expected him to win thr gold medal. in fact the whole team was of that opinion. so this was really a huge surprise to me this morning.

i also wonder that there was just one objects entry. i mean it was pretty obvious that there would be only one ride designed by AE, but there were at least two other people discussing about the rules of the objects round. i expected them to finish at least some objects.


and i personally think NE shouldn't take part next time. it was a versy stange contest with stupid rules, nobody understood. maybe one day there will be a good organized contest like this and that would really be interessting.

I have a feeling that RCT Resource's closure affected it's team as none of RCT Resource's entries were submitted. I know that my mini park was not included and that we had an entry for the scenery making as well I believe and neither were included. So, fuck them. I'm quite pissed now.

well finally whe get to see what you guys were up to some nice entries..

THe contest itself is a brilliant idea so i wouldnt recommend pulling out of it.
The way it was run this year was awful though. And we deffinetly didnt field our best team by any standards (and we still got more medals.) But every comp has its teething problems. Look at Park Wars (one of the biggest mistakes in NE history IMO was Canning that) a great idea that went down the pan. If the next board put a little more thought into it this could be an exceptional contest.

+ iris how can u give up a chance to destroy the only other competitor to NE's crown next time round

I was really miffed with the mini-park contest, I mean yeah it was all NE. But how did the gold park beat Junya and Jkay? No offence Cedarpoint.

And I'm lovin' AE's woodie trains. They look a bit cartoony, but peeps with their hands in the air are awsome! Shame no parks are peep-friendly.
