Both the same price, which should I get?
    The Gibson: http://www.gibson.co...atkins/SST.html
    The Taylor: http://www.taylorgui...px?model=312-CE

I suppose I want a guitar with an acoustic sound, which they both give. The Gibson is better looking, but the Taylor is an electro acoustic...

i'd probly take the taylor...even though the chet atkins is better looking...because i prefer a nice classic style...and plus it is electric too...and you will have much more options soundwise.

Taylor, The chet looks really ugly.

And jKay, real, good musical instruments cost quite a bit, but they're worth every penny.

its a good thing you want a guitar with an acoustic sound with those choices...cause thats all they give

get the Taylor. they are mainly acoustic guitar company so I would trust them more..and it looks traditional i like that.

You're really not all that funny are you?

Neither is very good. If you are going to play concerts, the atkins will work out pretty good, but you should really just go looking for guitar stores and such so that you can get a feel of what you really want out of a guitar.

if you are on the east coast and willing to spend a LOT for an acoustic, check out http://www.froggybottomguitars.com/ (lowest prices start at 4k)

I've got a strict budget...and to be honest, I'd prefer to get a more reputable brand, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

reputable isn't what you should look for, sound is.

Just because a guitar is good, doesn't mean it has the sound you want.

    I concur blitz.

With my drumkit, I have it all set up nice, tuned up and such, and it sounds really good. I was looking into some DW kits of the same specs online--they cost 2.5-3 times more--and when I tested their sound at a music store, sure they had a greater tonal range, but I realized how satisfied I am with my kit. You can't really cheat that way with cymblas, so I guess that'd be the same with amps and what-not for guitars, but yeah, look around for deals. Go to all your local shops and some bigger ones in bigger cities and figure out exactly what you want--price, feel, and sound-wise. That's how I got the hi-hats I liked for about 60 dollars cheaper that what they would/should be from Musician's Friend, but you can't find the pair in any catalogue.
