I think the NE-rooting-for teams are in a bit of a bind. Here's hoping the Angels at least repeat what happened 3 years ago.

Oh c'mon, it's not like you didn't come back from worse last year. :p

Angels come back to beat the Yanks! YAY! Altho I think Wong outpitched Lackey... but we took advantage of our chances while the Yankees didn't, kinda the reverse from last night a bit. Ah well... here's to repeating 2002! :)

I wonder if anyone has pointed out to Bud Selig that the 4 teams in the AL that are in the playoffs are in the 4 biggest markets in baseball:

    New York
    Boston
    Chicago
    Los Angeles

Furthermore, those 4 teams are 4 of the Top 5 salaried teams in the AL. Only Baltimore was in the Top 5 but didn't make the playoffs.

The story is slightly better in the NL. The 4 NL teams in the ranked 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 9th in NL team salaries. Houston was ranked 8th. San Diego was ranked 9th but they barely finished at .500. The other division winners were ranked 3rd and 6th.

It's time for a salary cap in baseball. Don Fehr and Bud Selig need to stop making excuses. I don't care about Oakland and Cleveland -- they didn't make the playoffs. Neither did any other small or mid-market teams. And it's going to stay that way until a cap is implemented. Sure, a smaller market team might make the playoffs occasionally -- and might even win a World Series -- but that's the exception rather than the rule. The disparity in baseball is ridiculous. It's embarassing and it's really hurting the game. FIX IT.

We all know white is better than red when it comes to Sox.

Never happen. Not under the current MLB administration.

BUT THEY'LL TAKE CARE OF THAT STEROID SITUATION REAL GOOD!
  • ekimmel%s's Photo
Yah...when? Don Fehr is dragging his feet on the steroid issue and making himself look like a real ass.

Not that he needed help with that...
  • Micool%s's Photo
    Well.
    That was quick.

If nothing else, this single game was a microcosm of the last 3 months, the months that led to the Red Sox's undoing. Manny and Papi doing all the work, the rest of the team eating shit. Unbelievable.

I'm glad it's over, actually. I'll admit it. I saw this coming. I'm sure most of Red Sox Nation did too. This team was great early on, but they fell apart. Was it age? Was it because they were flukes? I don't know. I do know that I couldn't watch this shit any longer. Abysmal performance, really. I mean, the bases are loaded with no outs, and you can't score? What the FUCK? If a team can't score in that situation, they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. It was pathetic.

That said, I tip my hat to the White Sox. They kicked our ass good, as well they should have.

But, I'm rooting for the Angels.

...Spring Training is only three and a half months away.

    GO BRAVES!!

    etc.

Oh well the Red Sox lost and were out of the playoffs. I can't believe the opportunity we missed in the seventh inning tonight. Bases loaded, nobody out. Then one, two, three outs; not even a sacrifice. Oh well like we New Englanders have said before many times, there's always next year. *sigh*

Uhh, go anybody besides the Yankees!
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
I was admittedly nervous when the Yanks came back to tie the game after being down 5-0. And when they took the lead, it was like "sonofa!!" But the Angels did not wilt, and that's a HUGE testatment to the heart of this team. Lets finish this tomorrow!

i guess if your team's so top heavy that you can't even think about a squeeze you don't deserve to be in the playoffs. i know it was like that last year for the sox, but they had more heart. or something.

    Well, fuck.
Oh well, at least we have this to laugh at:
