thats a home game for the sox right? the seats in centerfield arent bad. ive sat out there 2 or 3 times, i actually like them a lot. how much did you pay for them? -

yeah its a home game. seats were $23 a piece, i was one of the lucky people who got picked in the drawing on redsox.com for the "opportunity" for Sox/Yankees tickets. (on a side note, I love all the Red Sox ticket lotteries. Yankee games, select early games, Green Monster seats, right field rooftop seats...time for a new stadium already! but I digress.) none of that ticket broker arm-and-a-leg business, got them right from the team.thats a home game for the sox right? the seats in centerfield arent bad. ive sat out there 2 or 3 times, i actually like them a lot. how much did you pay for them?

Barry Bonds empties his soul... again... with entertaining results. -

Subtle admission of guilt?"You're talking about something that wasn't even illegal at the time,'' Bonds said. "All this stuff about supplements, protein shakes, whatever. Man, it's not like this is the Olympics. We don't train four years for, like, a 10-second (event). We go 162 games. You've got to come back day after day after day. We're entertainers. If I can't go out there and somebody pays $60 for a ticket, and I'm not in the lineup, who's getting cheated? Not me.
At least he's got his priorities straight. There are far worse things like cocaine, heroin and those types of things.
In other startling reveleations, water is wet.I'm my daddy's son.
JESUS CHRIST!!!"They say it makes your testicles shrink,'' he said. "I can tell you my testicles are the same size. They haven't shrunk. They're the same and work just the same as they always have."

Ummm actually that was today.....I saw that, but Sammy didnt deserve it. He struck out and was frustrated, then he went to the outfield. When he started talking to some fan about it, the umpire told him that he needs to play ball and threw him out.in other news, Sammy Sosa got ejected from a game yesterday.

3rd place in the division, of course behind the Sox and Yanks.I wonder how the Orioles will fair this season, now that they have Sosa...
Here's my prediction though for the O's. They will get Mike Piazza in a trade this year and use him as a DH. If he wants to extend his career, he needs to go to the AL. -

You know what? The only people that are happy about this whole steroids thing are the people who had grudges to begin with. It's ridiculous to go about blaming one or two players for taking steroids when clearly they were not isolated cases. If you play baseball, you take steroids. This is not earth shattering news people. We've known this for at least 10 years. At first nobody cared. Then there was all this news about how dangerous they are. And now somehow this took off as the story of the year or something just so the sports media has something to talk about other than the Yankees and the Red Sox for once. Cause guess what...life goes on outside of New England and a few of us are rather tired of everybody acting like the damn Yankees and Red Sox are all that matter. All this really does is call attention to how silly 'sports journalism' is to begin with. WHo cares how the great players of today compare to the great players of the past? I didn't see any of those people play. And statistics, by definition, are not truth. They are a version of the truth, a highly faulty one. Take any kind of Social Science class and that's the first thing they'll tell you. Statistics cannot be taken at face value. So yeah those home runs we love to see were juiced. The pitchers now also have computers to analyze and tweak their pitching mechanics. Take a Randy Johnson or a Roger Clemens and send them back 60 years and they'll destroy everybody. All these 'essays' about "can we trust them again?" or "do they deserve to go to the hall of fame?" or "should we count their records?" Come on. Does anybody really care? It's just an easy way to fill an assignment instead of writing about something that actually does matter. So they can pull out all manner of silly statistics and parade them around as if they actually say something. Just listen to Barry Bonds speak. Listen for a second. This is a man that plays a game for a living. So everyone else was juicing and he did it too. It wasn't illegal at the time. That's true. Yeah but it was steroids and steroids are bad you might say, but that's revisionist history. If the guy is a mediocre player and hits 40 home runs, he's just one of the many. But he hits over 70 and that makes him a target. Grow up. We're talking about people who do a job. They are entertainers. Barry Bonds has a skill that no other human being alive today has. I have a lot more respect for him, whether or not he took steroids - which quite obviously he did, though it was probably the same human growth hormone stuff Big Mac was taking - than any of these sports journalists who sensationalize and totally miss the point. So everybody please shut up about Barry Bonds and Jason Giambi and whoever else they want to pick on next. They make mistakes in life just like everyone else, but that's no reason to root for them to fail. -

this is not true. Do you think John Kruk took steriods? Do you think David Wells takes steroids? I think thats all I need to say about that.If you play baseball, you take steroids.
But I agree with you in that I don't care if they take steriods either. I hated Barry Bonds 15 years ago because he was a jerkass then and I'll hate him in the future cause he will still be a jerkass. My opinion has nothing to do with steriods.
When you are a die-hard fan of a sport, you like/hate certian players. Thats just the facts of life. I always liked Big Mac because of his "friendlyness", and I always will, even if they prove he took steroids. My opinion of these players is not based on steriods. Its based on my love/hate of indivual teams and players and their attitudes/personalities.
And the media have these same kinds of opinions. Some of them hate Barry cause hes a jerk. And so those media people will try harder in their writings to make him look bad because he took steriods. They dont like him so they twist their stories against him. Its that simple. -

i just watched the hearing on espn news. schilling, palmero, sosa, mcguire, and canseco had to appear before some committie or another. first of all, i love curt schilling whole heartedly. second of all, im embarassed for mcguire. third of all, conseco is gay.
mcguire was asked a series of questions about his use of steroids, his knowledge of thier illegality, and weather or not he could have broken the home run record with out the steroids. all he could respond was "i'm not here to talk about the past."
umm, theres more, but i dont have time right now. ill try to post more later, but this should be enough to talk about for now... maybe. -

this topic has gotten really quiet. but fear not the season begins really soon. im excited i cant wait. whos got playoffs predictions? i called that astros and dodgers were going to the playoffs at the begining of last season, and i think im gonna call the astros again this year. i dont know if its as a reliable a choice as it was a year ago, but im rooting for them. mostly cuz i whole heartedly love lance berkman and andy pettitte.
p.s. this does not mean i am unloyal to the red sox, theyll always be #1 for me. im just saying that i like the astros as well and expect them to perform pretty well this year. -
