Well the scapegoat is now Ramon Hernandez 'round here and as Phil Nevin has agreed to step up and catch for the Padres I love Phil Nevin again. He's just not worth the money at times, though, and this isn't the first time he's rejected a trade. Then again, last time we were going after Junior Griffey, and this time probably wouldn't have been any better. -

Wait, Nevin is going to catch? In ML games? Has he done that before? And what did Ramon do to get in the dog house? I'm somewhat curious considering he was with the A's a few seasons ago so I have some familiarity with him.
PS - We love Kots in Oakland. -

Great... the one time the A's lose, the Angels get killed too.
But it beats one alternative of the A's winning while the Angels lose.
And ouch for Matt Clement. Hit in the face by a line drive. And I have him on a fantasy team too.. -

Correction: Side of the head. Thankfully it wasn't the face.
I cringed so much when I saw that.
I had terrible flashbacks to Bryce Florie five years ago--but he did get hit in the face. There was blood everywhere. That was even worse. Poor kid never really got back.
Clement looks like he'll be alright, though. Later in the game Eric Frede, the NESN sideline reporter, got the info from the Red Sox team doctor. His cat-scan was negative, they just kept in the hospital overnight as a precaution. They also said he was conscious throughout and was coherant and knew what happened. That's a very good thing (though personally, if a baseball was shot at my head like that, I think I'd want to lose consciousness).
Man. Last night was by far the craziest, weirdest Sox game of the year. For whatever reason, Sox/D-Rays games are always interesting. -

Side of the head is sometimes worse than the face. That's the temple area, and a blow like that can kill you if it his the right spot with the right force. But good to hear he'll be okay. At least now he knows how that bird felt during that Randy Johnson game.... -

No no no dude, that bird felt what Clement would have felt had he had an 5 foot anvil coming at him at 95 mph. As in, dead.
Oh, and yeah, Nevin came into the majors as a catcher, and he caught a game last year. Ramon Hernandez doesn't like the Padres' staff's opinion on his injury so he's missing in action getting a second opinion from a doctor in LA, and he'll probably end up having surgery. We really can't deal with all these injuries during this sort of slump.
Oh, and you're welcome for Kotsayalthough it was all fine until Roberts and Hernandez got injured.

ARGH... we get blown out in game 1, lose on a wild pitch in game 2 then go EIGHTEEN INNINGS in game 3 before losing by one run again.
Meanwhile, those damned A's continue to creep up on us.
This has got to be the most frustrating three game set of the season for Angels fans. -

Dude, that ball that Clement had off his head, think about this:No no no dude, that bird felt what Clement would have felt had he had an 5 foot anvil coming at him at 95 mph. As in, dead.

He threw it 92 on the radar gun... around there.
The Batter swung probably around 75-90 mph... around there.
I dont know physics, but that ball off that bat HAD to be going up around 120 mph...
That bird Randy hit got hit by a 98 mph fastball.
120~ > 98
I rest my case.
Oh and btw, Yankees Suck. -

Okay, but think about this:
Matt Clement is listed at 6'3...that is, 75 inches tall, or long. A major league baseball is approximately 3 inches across. The bird that was hit by that 3 inch ball going about 100 mph was probably about 5 inches long. a ratio of 3/5, or 45/75.
So tell me seriously, would you rather be hit by a 3 inch wide baseball going 125, or a 45 inch wide object travelling 100.
That is....
basically...
a Hummer.

I've enjoyed watching the Braves this year. I laughed when all the analyst kept hyping the Nationals, as I knew they would remember, sooner or later, that they are just the Expos in a different uniform.
Also, the Cubs are looking a little better as of late. I hope to see them play the Braves here in Atlanta. -

More likely an H2 since an H3 is about the size of a regular car, which would ruin the whole point of me saying "Hummer" instead of "car".An H2 or H3?

From what I've seen (though I haven't seen one in real life yet), an H3 is about the size of a Ford Explorer or similar mid-size average SUV. Still big, really. Can't imagine parallel parking with one of those.
I <3 my Jeep Wrangler (and its small turning radius).
But, we are terribly off topic here. -

Wow. Sucks to be Phil Nevin right now.
Also. This is the worst feeling about the Red Sox I've ever had (Game 7 in 2003 notwithstanding). The Red Sox w/o Manny Ramirez = a 3rd or 4th place team -
GigaForce Offline
Corkscrewed, your team cannot fucking close the deal. HOW DO YOU BLOW THAT FUCKING GAME.
ALAN EMBREE AND TOM GORDON FUCKING SET THAT UP FOR THE ANGELS
WHAT THE FUCK -
Micool Offline
Yeah, he does. And yeah, sucks to be Nevin.
But you know what really sucks.
This division sucks so bad, NO ONE'S IN FIRST PLACE! -

I apologize to everyone for the sorry display that the Twins put on against the Red Sox yesterday. I am terribly sorry.
They'll do better, I swear..
