Not sure how/why Jeff Kent got voted starting 2B. He's having a great year, but he doesn't strike me as a guy who'd get an honor like that. That would mean Dodger fans cared!!
Good to see Eckstein getting starting SS. He's had a great year, and it's awesome to see him finding success after the Angels let him go. -

A lot of people got snubbed. Like Mark Kotsay and Eric Chavez for instance who are the best fielding third baseman and center fielder in the AL and yet they couldn't even make it onto the reserves list. Even more ridiculous, not one player from the AL central is in the starting lineup and that division just happens to host the best team in baseball right now. It's just a silly (east coast) popularity contest. -

Kotsay? I think I'd rather have Podsednik in there even though I don't think he plays CF.
But, yeah, it's a ridiculous popularity contest. It's not as bad now, but in the past a lot of players got in by reputation long after they were past their prime. I think Ozzie Smith made the team when he was 52 and did Cal Ripken. Jeff Kent got in much that way this year but at least he's still All-Star quality. -

That's because defense is so undervalued.Kotsay? I think I'd rather have Podsednik in there even though I don't think he plays CF.

Damon only made it because he's a C-list celebrity. Diehard Red Sox fans are all sick of him, or at least were, because he's gotten insanely hot the past 3 weeks. Here's praying that neither Jeter nor Matsui make it in on the final vote. -

So the first 10 minutes of the 6 PM Sportscenter was about how the Red Sox are in turmoil and shit. Because 1) Johnny Damon thinks putting Schill in the bullpen is a bad idea, and 2) Kevin Millar wants more playing time. This has put the team in distress. Never mind the fact that Manny and Papi are still smiling ALL the time and goofing off, and while Trey Wingo asked Terry Francona the dumbest question I've heard in a long time, "Does this team run off of team friction?" they showed a clip of the Red Sox giving each other their trademark man-hugs (thank you Tim McCarver). Yes, great deal of friction there. Besides, Johnny Damon is a moron and no one takes him seriously (I actually don't want my JD jersey anymore now that he's become an egocentric blabbering idiot), and Kevin Millar just irritates everyone--oh yeah, and he sucks. He'll be gone by July 31.
Man, I hate ESPN sometimes. -

Who cares about the derby, the A's swept the Chi Sox - in Chicago. Any doubters now? -

So, the Mariners swept the Angels in four games in Anaheim. Doesn't mean the Angels are gonna fall out of the west.Who cares about the derby, the A's swept the Chi Sox - in Chicago. Any doubters now?

Can't believe they've fought back to get into first place. But they beat the Rangers, so that helps us.
Hey Ed... nice game. Angels 5 - A's 2.

Yeah well that was our worst starter. And your guys really only had the one good inning. NCan't believe they've fought back to get into first place. But they beat the Rangers, so that helps us.
Hey Ed... nice game. Angels 5 - A's 2.
Now you're getting Harden & Zito so we'll see who ends up taking the series.
