well, the superbowl has come and gone, it was a good season and post season but with the begining of the spring training just 7 days away i think its time to redirect our attention over to the world of baseball. so heres my atempt at a baseball thread, use it to share your opinions/predictions or talk about rumors, who you hate/love, trades, stats w/e everything baseball
i'll start, the tigers finally sealed the deal with magglio odrenez -

They've lost a few of their good pitchers. And players.
But 2004 will last your another 76 years, right? -

i think the red sox are in the same, if not better condition then they were going into last season, i think its realistic to expect them to come as far as the alcs again. as for the astros, i called that they were going to the playoffs last year, and im gonna call it again this year. the only serious difference in their roster from the begining of last season is the absence of jeff kent, but i think theyll be able to do well with out him. i realize they lost beltran as well, but he was only there for the end of the season, and the astros did fine with out him. -

I don't think the Red Sox are falling apart at all...sure, they lost quite a few players, but this time last year we expected to lose at least 2 of 3 between Nomar, Lowe and Pedro after the 2004 season was done. Now, turns out we lost all three, but not before the Nomar trade landed Cabrera and the other two stuck around long enough to play big in the playoffs...win the Series.
The key is we still have Varitek, the heart and soul of the team. Millar, Mueller and Damon are back. Schilling, Wakefield and Foulke are on the mound, nevermind the newcomers....and mostly...Manny and Papi are back to kick some more ass. That's right, that means you 'Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim'...and of course the choker Yankees.
Should be fun...I dunno if we'll win it all...last year was our best chance (and we did it!!!), but we are better off in the rotation and the field than I expected. The bats are about the same...which is scary, really.

Don't forget Renteria...even though that deal was really pretty stupid it didn't hurt. just wasted money is all. Renteria is a hell of a shortstop. also, David Wells WILL win the Cy Young this year. you heard it here first. -

That reminds me, who is the Cardinal's shortstop this year? I'm looking at the first round of the playoffs for us, seems pretty reasonable; I don't think we'll go much further though. -

As a Red Sox fan, it's kinda wrong of me to hope they make it 100 years without winning, but at the same time, that's such an astonishing landmarkish number. 100 years. Geesh.
So what, 3-4 seasons left, right?

Um. No. The Astros traded for him, hoping to get back into the Wildcard Race. They were about a million games out. Then he came. And we started winning, although a little slow at first.. And that is how it went. Seriously.i realize they lost beltran as well, but he was only there for the end of the season, and the astros did fine with out him.

Although I'll settle for 86 months if it means the Angels win again.
My pick for the NL West is the Giants, as much as I hate to admit it. They've really loaded up so that Bonds can get a ring this year. -
