Johnny Borrell maybe extremely talented. But if he's so talented then why blatantly rip Television and The Strokes? Seems kinda silly. Particuarly if he's a "better lyricist that Bob Dylan" (his words).

Haze, I know alot of talented musicans can make a good band and you showed some fine examples. However, having good musicians does not necessary mean the music is good. Thats just my point.

Killing Moon, it was more the fact that I didn't want to banter on because you just kept re-enforcing my points with your replys. However I admit that I didn't know that Keane were around before Coldplay + Starsailor, so thanks for that.

Some of the best musicians are arrogant. Doesn't make his music any better or worse. Razorlight is completely different from the strokes, never heard any television though. I wasn't re-enforcing your points, as I was arguing against you. TBH, I can't be arsed with anymore of your bullshit especially as I just contracted mumps and have more important things to do right now.

    On a more serious note.

Have you actually got this UK thing of mumps? Man you must feel like Napoleon at Waterloo or something. Where do you live 'cos I do not want to be under threat this week.

Razorlight may not sound anything like the Strokes but stylistically they take steal alot of licks and styles. For instance, Borrell's Casablacan style "hmm's" and "urgh's" sound really bad on "Up All Night", while The Strokes pull them off convincingly. Or the guitar opening on "Stumble and Fall" sounds alot like "Automatic Stop". Even the song names are very Strokesy; "Leave Me Alone", "Up All Night" etc.

    Have fun with mumps.

Surprisingly... I don't like anything by Maroon 5... or RHCP... or any of these teenage punk bands. Oh, I ALWAYS hated Hanson. And Cher. And Bette Midler.

Yes. If you step into Stoke Bishop, Bristol, where all the halls of resi are, and you're not immunized you will get mumps - fact. I was told I'd had an MMR but apparently not according to the massive lump on my face. And I miss an exam today and because I can't see a doctor before it I get marked zero for it! Yahoo!

But, cos I have fuck all to do for the next week, if someone in the UK would be kind enough to send me a copy of rct2 I promise a mini park by the end of the week :D

    Hawthorne Heights and Alan Jackson.

I'd rather drive a Honda than hear either. There are a lot more bands/singers I hate but those two stick out.

I've never been immunized. And I don't get sick more than anyone else.

I've never been immunized. And I don't get sick more than anyone else.

I was immunised against this, and I know another girl who had the specific jab against mumps last term but still got it this weekend. I'm off uni for two weeks as well now - and I can't even go home so this should be fun.

i actually like Creed and Green Day still,
some songs never get old with me. some songs i mean.

As for Chemical Romance, i've actually met these guys and their pretty cool guys not bad people.

the only types of bands i don't like, not necessarily hate because everyonce in a while they're will be a good song from like
    Country
Rap/R&B/Hip-Hop (all the same to me).

i like a mix of songs, like say i love "Come Clean" by Hilary Duff, yet i seriously don't like the rest of of her songs. and then i got Green Day and Creed where i still like around 90% of all their songs. i can listen to "Around the World" by Daft Punk all day, or "Woo Hoo" by the 5,6,7,8's hours at a time. just depending on my mood.
the only rap singer i've ever gotten into is Eminem, that is NOT because he's white, its because i can actually fucking understand him when he's singing.

Hell i still like Michael Jackson songs, that dosent mean i like Michael Jackson as a person, i personally think he's freaky. "Thriller" is still good to listen to everyonce in a while.

PLEASE don't tell me you didn't like Hanson, ok, please don't do that "I never liked that band" back when you were in Middle School, i liked it, hell everyone had "OOmbpop" in their head. its only until now you find it incredibly stupid song, (that's pop for you).

I like how bands, songs, and artists who were once popular amongst the majority here are now bashed later on. its like a vicious cycle where now you think your local bands (well i think their lame most of the time) kick ass, i wanna see what you guys will act next year, or say next year.

P.S. i agree with Coaster Ed, this is little stuff, but it kind of shows how you act or think when it comes to bigger issues.

I've never been immunized. And I don't get sick more than anyone else.

Immunisation isn't just for self-protection. It's a group-effort, reducing the impact of disease. By not getting immunised you not only open yourself to more risk (although you're arguing against that) but you increase the chance of other people becoming ill if you did, indeed, contract something.

    Oh c'mon....

and no... Guardian... I NEVER liked Hanson...

infact, I rarely like commercial music that hits the Top 40... I get sick of hearing the same bullshite over and over again on the radio.

One coming your way in the post...you can have my original, I don't need it anymore. Actually, neither do you. You'll get addicted to it again! But I suppose if you really want one I'll post one to you (you probably know who I am...well...it's the only other person you know who sometimes goes on these forums)

Well, the reason why I don't understand hate towards Keane is because they don't prescribe to any sort of image at all - they're quite literally well brought up lads who are just playing music. Sure, as JB pointed out, you can dislike the music - but hate? Why?

I don't really hate any music, apart from 50 Cent who makes money out of being shot and drawling on about some nightclub. I mean, I don't really identify with a few genres - including R&B and a lot of rap, but it's stupid to turn that into hate or dislike. I mean, only last night I was in Bristol's most popular R&B night at the academy. The majority of the hate here comes from a lack of understanding - I mean, out of the bands listed in everyone's hate columns, how many have you guys actually listened to full albums of? Or seen in concert? So how can you possibly make a judgement to such an extreme? So perhaps Ed does have a point after all.

And yes I have listened to Arthur's music, one of my mates had a tape when we were roadtripping around unis, and I made a balanced judgement. For the record.

    ED, lovely post.

Though I am guilty of "sippin' teh hatorade" as they say B)
